"Opie Sympathizers." Love that term. They're all evading justice in Argentina since the fall of the O&A regime.

Here's a topic - why do so many of the virulent anti-Opie folks get their panties in such a bunch at even the most innocuous criticism of Anthony (the suggestion that maybe his show should have had a free trial, etc.)?

I've seen a few different threads where people bitch at anyone who criticizes Ant's show, about how he's new and should be given some time, then talk about what a disaster the (brand new) O&J show is?

It's funny seeing how one of the former show hosts (who's almost certainly the more like able one on a personal level) gets criticized for every move he makes, and the other gets deified.

Most of Ant's criticism comes from political disagreements, whereas hypocritical douchiness like The Opester's crosses party lines.

I found the show through clips of Anthony. I lean slightly towards his politics but I firmly believe he is playing a character and in the real world there is no black and white (pun intended). But he has proven to be 1 hell of a funny ass guy and quick. Its like having a beer with your best friends from high school where anything goes.

He is not without criticism. There is a lot of things I would like to see improve. But he gets the respect for doing what he did in 1 month, not being a bitch and complaining, and rolling with the punches. This is whats buying him time.

I got a month sub, if I dont like it after a month, finito la musica, canceled.

That's fair. To be clear, I'm not big on his politics, and haven't subscribed to his show based on the expectation that his politics would be a focal point of the show (from what I've read it lookalike that's the case). He's absolutely a funnier guy than Opie, and I loved listening to him for a long time.

I do think there's a major subset of the anti-Opie crowd who get into massive down vote mode the second Anthony is referenced negatively.

I came to this subreddit as part of jocktober. The user had some really funny comments and links. I don't always think that the show is great or even good, if that's the case I change the channel and do something else with my 3 hours. I don't understand people that hate Opie's guts but still listen to the show. Like it or not he's now 50% of the show now, so move on. The show took a turn at the start of the year and this sub turned with it. I haven't had a good laugh here this year.

10 years ago listened to Bob and Tom, Tom became so horrible that I completely stopped listening, even though I liked everyone else on the show. If I completely hated Opie but loved Jimmy I would absolutely stop listening.

I don't want to talk about it - I just think the people who can't drop it are losers. Opie is kind of irritating, but I don't let it ruin my day. Just move on to something else and accept that the show is basically over.

The people that bitch are the "it's still real to me dammit" guys of this show. Face it, it's over.

I actually enjoy the best-of clips an I'm not the only one who feels that way. Sometimes they make good listening on a long weekend.And do we really need 50 threads dissecting someone's tweet or three words someone said on the show today? It's just spam.

I think the point is that...it's not the same show as it was 10 years ago, 5 years ago, or even one year ago. Sorry. The constant complaining about the same stuff over and over doesn't do anything but add clutter. What's the point? I know, YOU are a special flower and YOUR point is different and NEEDS to be heard! But the reality is, nobody cares, if you don't like the show, listen to something that you actually enjoy (much like the mass exodus from Howard 5 years ago).

I kinda liked when this sub was kind of neutral on The Opie Show featuring Jim Norton, because then the douchebags who talked about it being a "Cool, laidback comedian hang podcast" kinda show were really fucking visible.
