Listening today, Opie said at least three times "I thought it was funny" to Jimmy...without laughing.
It's so hard to listen to when it's just the two of them and Sam. There is no one for Jimmy to bounce anything off of - even if he bombs (Like the Master Po) line, someone would either laugh or tell him it was horrible.
Yeah all he can really do is have serious conversations with Opie, I mean I know we're all DYING to hear that break about the documentary they watched, happy they teased it for today.
Anthony talked about Ellis on his show today. Basically said the guy is an untalented opportunist. He said he feels sorry for him and thinks he has mental problems lol
it really does take a emotional terminator comic genius to not just say that but to be able to deliver it a split second after hearing it. james gandolfini was a far bigger hit anyway.
That's not the point, as I stated in my previous comment Anthony would've had that within seconds of it being mentioned. Sure if you sit on it for awhile you could've come up with it, but to have it as a reflex is what defines him.
I think other people could have too. Not everybody instantaneously, but some. We've heard those sort of lines a lot, we've been trained in it in a way. Agree to disagree here, I guess.
I really think it's an obvious line. I mean, what just happened with Robin Williams that's on everyone's mind? So what would make Jason Ellis similar? And we hate Jason Ellis right? (quick computation) Use It!

I hope he doesn't get fired.

Come on, a radio guy wouldn't get fired for something that was said on Twitter.

I've said this before but he's seriously like an autistic. More often than laughing, he'll just acknowledge humor by going, "Very good. Very good."

Yeah, Ellis was the kind of douche the show usually made fun of. I never understood how he got on the channel....Oh that's right. Opie.

It's not some genius line anyways. It's funny if you like O&A humor, but most anybody here could and would come up with that line.

Sure, maybe but I doubt it, it takes a special kind of closed off since the early 1970's to pull these out within a second of it being presented.

I wish you would do what Williams did.

Why, exactly? All I've got so far is that you really don't like what I said, but no reason why.

Its weird that you're getting so much disagreement on this, now we're supposed to treat throwaway lines like they are genius.
