I'd love it if Ronnie B took the Ant spot and the two shows merged in October. I've criticized Ronnie for mailing it in on his show lately, but quite frankly he also has an awful supporting cast. He needs someone else to talk to besides a couple of hipster ex-interns who add nothing of value to the world.
there is no room for Opie if you have Ronnie B. Ronnie B can run a show AND be the talent. Sirius needs to pair Ronnie B up with a Big Jay or Florentine and they could have a fucking juggernaut.
But you hear Ronnie talk...he doesn't like to run the ship. He never used to and he doesn't always react in the best way when presented with an issue or problem. That was never his job, and to present that to a man who is used to chewing on a cigar and telling jokes but be a huge burden. That was never his gig until Fezzie bailed on him. He just wants to come in every day and do radio. No meetings, no prep, no yelling, no bullshit. For a long time (seemingly over a decade) everything was where it was supposed to be and things were, for the most part, off without a hitch. Fez was at the helm, and everything was copacetic.
The past 8(?) or so years have seen Ron Bennington, the comedy legend, revered by all his peers, no equal in his field assume the top dog position of the radio side of things. As knowledgeable and seasoned as Ron is at radio, (and i dont blame him one bit) hes not willing to put in the effort and time the EP, Fez should be putting in. Ron should be briefed 5 minutes before the show goes on air and then the show should start and finish in 3 hours uninterrupted by rookie mistakes or i forgot, sorry excuses.
Things should not be run by Ron, issues should never be presented to the desk of Ron Bennington. This was Fez's job, and he was the unspoken reason the show was so successful for so long. Fez ran shop and they both excelled for years. I really think Ron would be happy to hand the reigns over to (as much as their knocked) a competent staff like Sam and E rock and Opie. The last thing Ron wants to do is run a show.
Exactly!! He's been great with Pepper Hicks (Aka Chris Stanley aka The centaur) I feel sorry for Fez but he brings nothing to the show anymore. The last thing I can remember where Fez was involved was the Cakehorn incident and that was in March. Classic Shelby is one of the funniest people I've heard with his little sly digs he whispers. At the minute the show revolves around is Fez ok? Is Fez happy today? Will Fez be ok the rest of the day? GO TO JAPAN FEZ
Fuck that shit dude, I don't want to listen to Opie not getting and ruining Ron's jokes. Opie's a fucking moron. Opie is dumber than everyone on the supporting cast of Ron and Fez.
At least the replays will mean I get to listen to the show again. I can't catch it live and more or less have stopped listening to Ron + Zero Fez since the move.
I listened to it during a very long drive once, and a few times after that, and the guy was the douchiest fucking person in the world.
I've heard some people shit on Jim Jefferies for supposedly aping Doug Stanhope's material, but I will always love the guy, if for nothing else, for shitting on him before and after the shock collar shit.
i understand that Ron and Fez on RawDog 99 ... with all its "flaws" and what its turned into since the summer started/Gurian bought his way in/agreed to work for plugs can be perceived as different and lacking from its once great status but if anyone could explain the move from the Opie and Anthony channel i would LOVE to hear it. i dont understand why Sirius would push and reintroduce the Comedy Hits 99 channel when at the same time they sign and promote the other comedy channel, a station based around a TV network called COMEDY CENTRAL. It makes no sense.
During that huge Fez meltdown in November Ron said, flat out, that "he doesn't like doing radio anymore". if that means just with Fez, or with his staff of the absurd, or radio in general is up to you to decide, but he said it was more like a job than what he always wanted, had and enjoyed; people bullshitting. He said it again in the Jason Nash interview, he just doesn't have fun doing radio anymore. His environment is toxic. Why would you take a man who feels this way, whos partner is the nonexistent Fez Whatley and make him the centerpiece of a channel? God bless him, as much as Ron has tried he just cant get the new show to click. i cant blame a man as burnt out as he is, i really dont think hes 100% into it or behind it. Moving them from Opie and Anthony after such a fucked up and important year was a huge mistake.
There has never been a single funny moment on that stupid show. The only time it has been interesting is seeing Fez gradually melt down, and even that is more aggravating than interesting.
Edit: I challenge each of you downvoting me to each post a different funny highlight from the show. They've been on forever so I'm sure there must be at least ten.
I honestly listened to hundreds of hours of it back in the WNEW/WJFK days because I was too apathetic to change the station. Those were supposed to be the glory days and it was just fucking awful. It's even worse now.
Well, even if you didn't like ESD, or the Black earl stuff, the slow breakdown of Fez has been one of the most interesting and bizarre "entertainment" I've ever come across. There's no other show like it, and there never will be.
I hate to say it, but I think that the future of the O&A show looks a lot like Ron and Fez. Basically a show that used to be funny, with a non-existent second mic, followed by a bunch of fans nostalgic for the glory days.

Just move Ron & Fez home. The Rawdog move has been a complete bust.

Fuck that. Anthony needs to cut Ronnie B a check and steal him away from Sirius.

Remember when Jason Ellis's show was on the channel? I think that was the first time I was ever mad at the radio.
-5 jakdak 2014-08-08
Was I the only one who didn't mind Ellis?
I wouldn't go seek out the show- but having selected bits of his show break up the monotony of the endless weekend replays wasn't horrible.
There's other podcasts that I'd rather hear- but anything is better than listening to the week's "Worst Of" for the 5th time.

Hey look, it's 'dumb cunt who doesn't get the bit' guy
8 NoremacMartin 2014-08-08
You're an unfunny cunt.
Ron and Fez is an amazing show. A true hang.
Fans of O&A always talk about how they just hang out and shoot the shit, but when Ron & Fez have no guests they do exactly that.
Great casual and meaningless conversation.
-8 callmesnake13 2014-08-08
I'm not even trying to be funny, so it's not surprising that you, as an Ron & Fez fan, would not understand where humor is supposed to be.
-7 Barbara_Booey 2014-08-08
I agree with you 100%. They are never funny, never clever and almost never interesting.
It was somewhat interesting when Fez came out of the closet but that was it.
