The Soder Show with Big Jay Oakerson coming next week on Rawdog

Just heard an ad, I think it starts Tuesday at 2 PM.

Oh and then I heard about this as well

Comedy Cellar also on Rawdog.

Not that it really matters but it would've been cool to at least have the Soder show with Big Jay on siriusxm.... talk (grody)

I dig how they are adding the side shows (florentine, rich & bonnie) and that one might have been a good fit. It blows that it takes a catastrophe to get the channel to mold into what they wanted for a long time.

Soder and Big Jay? Fuck yeah

Tuesday at 2pm on Raw Dog.... so what happens to Ron and Fez? They end an hour early or what?

Shit, I sent this in like a rookie news reporter. I could be wrong on the 2 pm part. I'll try to look up more info and update. I can't find anything on it right now, but I know I heard Soder doing the ad for it.

Ron & Fez are on vacation this week and next. They said they would be running a new hour hosted by Intern Molly, so Dan & Jay could fit into their schedule.

They're out next week week too?! Aw fuck!

No, they'll be back on Monday. I heard it on today's Best of...

I'm not positive, but I thought they said it was going to be 2 weeks.

Ron and who?

Its not on Raw Dog. Some other comedy channel 95.

I've listened to the Comedy Cellar show (or whatever variant that they run on that channel currently).. and there was some whiny bitch ass comedian (with an awful voice..cant recall his name) badmouthing Anthony and doing so while entirely missing the point.

The show sounds awful (audio quality), and has no flow to it. What I heard was question and answer stuff, no real chemistry.. nothing worth listening to.

That's a bummer. It seems like it could be cool.

Yeah, if you were hoping for ball busting and actual insight in the comedians minds, that's not what I heard. I think.. I say.. think, Dan Natturman is the comedian I heard running the shows I tuned in to. He is not the right personality to run the gig that way.

I mean, I'll give it a shot again, but from what I heard, it was not anything any of us would like.

I heard that guy Natturman also. Brutal. Whiny annoying voice.

It's going to be on Comedy Central radio, not Rawdog. I believe it is channel 95.

I feel like they should add another guy because Soder would make a great third mic.

Hope this means that he'll be doing O&J even more regularly now if he's gonna be in the building. Good for Dan, he's one of the most talented younger comedians out there right now.

Probably be only weekly right?

I looked on the rawdog site and there's no mention of it yet but seeing as it's starting on a Tuesday instead of a Monday I'm guessing that unfortunately it'll only be a weekend thing.

Also I haven't heard the commercial if anyone has heard did it say how long the show will be?

EDIT: Now that i know its on Comedy Central Radio the soder show is on their website and its 6-7pm weekly show on tuesdays with replays throughout the week.

So basically a podcast, better then nothing. Thanks for your research.

in for deetz

Misread title and thought I don't remember asking dan and big jay to be on me.

Oakerson is also on the cumia show next week

I'll listen. It'll be nice to have a good radio show to listen to with hosts that are under 40.

Big Jay is 37. Voice of the next generation maaaaaan.

Under 40 without screaming about dragons. This should be a great show.

...but with high-pitch impressions of randomly placed go-to characters.

tss Soder? What is he thirsty or sumtin?

I've never actually heard Oakerson until now, and I have to ask:

Is he giving Attell a piece of the action? The dude is completely ripping him off here; the delivery is completely Attell. It's Attell-by-numbers. It's completely fucking shameless.

I can't be the first person to notice this. Has he been called out on/copped to doing this?

And more importantly, has he stopped doing this?

His WTF interview with Maron goes into this extensively. When everyone was saying he was ripping off Attell, he asked Attell to watch him and let him know what he thought. Dave instantly asked him to go on the road with him, and they became fast friends. If Dave thought he was being ripped off, he clearly took it as a compliment.

Jay just sounds like him, and I don't think it's intentional or a "rip-off." If their voices weren't so similar I don't think anyone would compare him to Attell.

Thanks.

Their voices are actually a bit different; it's the delivery/inflection/cadence/rhythm that's exactly the same.

Attell has very, very distinct vocal "stylings"; that's part of what makes him the cream of the crop, tip of the top, A #1. There's just no way Oakerson could hit on so many of them accidentally. Oakerson had to have watched hours upon hours of Attell's stand-up, and practiced Dave's delivery over and over again, to get so much of it down that pat.

If Dave's fine with it and they're friends, that's cool, but Oakerson's definitely ripping off his delivery, and it's definitely intentional.

You should checkout some of his other material rather than just that stand up special from 7 or 8 years ago. He is just a really funny guy... his podcasts, interviews, everything he is hilarious. His standup now is also mostly crowdwork and he just kills it.

I don't think that constitutes being a rip-off. There are so many comics in the world, that you're almost always going to be able to find someone who has a similar style to another big-name comic. As long as you're funny and not stealing bits, it shouldn't matter if your delivery is similar to someone elses. I doubt it's even intentional, that's just how he is.

So, having his own show, does that mean no 3rd mic for Soder?

Enough a bout the Soder!

Soder even said he couldn't/wouldn't do it at this point in where his career was going. I believe it was the day Ant got fired that he said It. He knew he was about to get his own gig.

Good for him - he's earned it. I just didn't want him trying to fill the shoes of a legend.
