those dont mean anything not unique everytime someone pauses or the video craps out they refresh not to mention there are prob several ant fans drastically inflating those numbers. why is no one posting what the live numbers are? where they lower than yesterdays or something ?
So the YouTube videos with 600m views means nothing just because they're not unique? People seem to obsess way too much with how much Anthony's taking in on day 2 of his new show.
YouTube's view count algorithms are very complex, and include the removal of "fake" hits and redundant hits. Nobody but Google knows exactly how it works, but it's known that refreshing a video and/or watching the video a bunch of times in a row will not count, while watching a video more than once "legitimately" does. That's why popular videos stay at "301+" for a day or two; the algorithm is busy sorting "real" and "fake" hits during the view influx before it updates the number. The first few days of a YouTube video's popularity is the most important, especially when it comes to selling ads.
The streaming service Ant uses counts every last hit, refresh or not. Fans could probably artificially inflate the view count into the millions quite easily if they really wanted to. Not that it matters, though, as there is a big difference between selling an ad on a YouTube video and selling an ad on a streaming service. Ant's business model is all about subscriptions and retention rates, so I wouldn't put any stock into any view-numbers; it's not the goal at all.
So give the average user 3-4 refreshes, which is probably INSANELY generous since a majority probably listen all the way through without refreshing once and he is still doing some insane numbers.
Yea, but I think most are just clicking play once and letting it roll. Maybe I am way off, but I think 3-4 hits per subscriber sounds about right as an average.
He averages 1 million Youtube views a month? I'd like to see the breakdown for that.
Still, you could take Ant's 130,000, say only one hit out of 4 is genuine, it still matches the hits of
just about individual video the guy has uploaded in about a year.
Norton does do theaters. After he films a special he works on new/untested material at clubs because a) he wants an honest reaction and b) it wouldn't be fair to charge 50 bucks to see him perform unpolished material. This is isn't particularly unique, and it's not a promotional tactic.
I was excited about all of the views Anthony's show was getting. The title of this post wasn't meant to run down Opie, he's the Captain of the ship. I think I was going for an inside joke type thing. I probably should have posted as Chip instead, that always works. Great big peckahs.
and why would opie be jealous of these numbers? on the extremely conservative side they easily have 500 k listeners still if not closer to a million at sxm. Dont get me wrong ants doing fantastic so far but the mere fact that ants doing so well just goes to prove how many listeners they actually have on sirius xm.

if only they were unique hits! Every time I close out and go back in it counts as another view.

So it's exactly like youtube, then.

Many of us are at work and constantly in and out of the feed. I probably accounted for 13 clicks today.

I've totally turned a corner on Opie.
I know his viral videos were pathetic, but at least he was trying to promote the show.
2 Moh7 2014-08-05
It's how I discovered the show like 3 years ago so obviously it works.
The opsters not funny but he's not stupid.
2 majestik6 2014-08-05
Totally. The trick is to get new listeners. It's the reason that Jim Norton doesn't do theaters, he's not getting anyone new in his audience

I think he probably prefers getting paid a few million dollars a year to talk to a bigger audience
i think anthony would prefer the same thing
0 Lasagna_Hat 2014-08-05
More views than his viral videos...
I think it might sting a bit

Who Cares.

Really? Instead of him feeling happy for his former partner, he needs to be jealous. Ugh, stop being such a girl and wanting to create drama.

He's jealous-ish. Did you see that Tweet he snapped at Ant & whoever was fucking with Ope yesterday in Ant's feed?
-4 eestijama 2014-08-05
You are such a chick.
-5 gsbird1065 2014-08-05
Why would he care? They're not in competition with one another, after all.
