He wasn't hated like Roland. He was endlessly mocked, mostly for things he'd say or do, but nobody would say "Black Earl on the show - radio OFF" like they do with Roland.

Earl brought some of the best bits to both shows, just being himself. The whole Lily saga was always funny - especially when he finally got her to do a topless photos shoot, and he produced the most unsexy pictures possible, after years of bragging about his skills. Lily was sexy as fuck, only Earl could screw that up.

It would be nice, because I think they would probably feed off each other well in terms of being silly and funny. That's if it were the "old" ESD.

However, Dave has so many other issues that it would be impossible for Anthony to even have that anywhere near his show (or house).

Dave has become pretty much over the top though...he's gone beyond the humorous side and now is just drunk and most of the time unfunny and hacky.

I've listened to old Black Earl bits and it seems like he was just incredibly awkward, and I believe he got hired as a favor to Opie, so he probably wasn't really qualified to be head producer for a show, especially R&F.

Pretty much. I think he had an avoidant personality which can cause people to wonder "wtf's up with that guy?", which just invites being picked on. Also I always thought he probably subconsciously thought up things to do just to get away from people at times, maybe when the anxiety was peaking, the picture hanging being the perfect example.

I only listened when Earl was working with Ron and Fez. But I also think that he worked with O&A at one point.

There was something really funny about Earl - he is such a retarded idiot but still somehow was fun to listen to most of the time because he was able to get shit on a lot and keep it going...

He was kind of like the E-Rock of the RnF show. When he and Eastside Dave would get into it and Ron egged it on it was really funny radio.

But he did do a lot of stupid shit and it was usually really funny when they let him have it.

Fucker knows his music though. Listening to him talk about music was usually pretty enjoyable.

I don't think he was genuinely 'hated' by anyone but possibly Ant.

If I saw Black Earl somewhere, I'd say hello and shoot the shit. If I saw Roland somewhere, I'd be hard-pressed not to break an icicle off a stoop and stab that fat fucker's eyes out. That's the difference between dislike and hate.
