So, are they just going to do one day a week of recycling the week's broadcasts, and then throw the same thing up for the podcast? Because, if so, why pay for a subscription?

Why pay anyway? The whole show is uploaded each day on Youtube and the Torrent sites.

i have a sub and honestly have not even listened on there in weeks.. youtube works way better then the app cutting out all the time and draining my phone battery

Don't pay. There are plenty of ways to listen, even live.

Could you aim me in that direction of listening live for free?

Thanks buddy!

Could I get some info too? Does it work on iPhone?

Not very well, but it does. DM'd you.

Still annoys me they call it a "podcast." Re-hashing what you already broadcast in a week and distilling it into an hour is not a "podcast," and is kind of insulting to people that make genuine ones.

To be fair, the people doing podcasts act like it's difficult, sort of insulting all the people that actually do radio for a living.

They have a real show on a real platform, the podcast is just there as a free advertisement for their real job.

Who insults people that do radio? I've never heard anyone demonstate that opinion. Joe Rogan does a 2-3 hour podcast a few times a week, Adam Carolla does about that too. That's not easy. All these guys built their shows from scratch, and from the ground up, cultivating listeners over years with all original content. That's not what O&A did.

They didn't have to, they could get real jobs doing the same thing. The difference between podcasters and broadcasters is the difference between editors for The Post and bloggers on gawker summarizing tweets.

I didn't say anyone insulted them, I said podcasters acting like their shows out of the garage for 2 hours a week is hard work is insulting to people that actually do radio, that's all.

And you're right, most of them don't, but some do and it's irritating, that's my only point.

In this week's MMP, Bill Burr basically inverts this logic and says podcasts are just new radio.

Holy shit how profound of him

Agreed. The older podcasts (when they had a theme) were at least entertaining.

Not listened to the Podcast in ages. Do they still have a 'nugget'?

I stopped subbing to the podcast after it essentially became a worst of, what was on this weeks?

You know if that blow hard is talking, it will fill an entire long drive, so you should download it. God that guy is a boring fuck.

It sure would be awesome if all the replays were just racial rants by Anthony.

No that's not the point of the podcast especially after Anthony left. The show lost a lot of listeners so putting new free content out there will hopefully help them retain some base. If you want old clips there is a million YouTube videos dedicated to that.

It must be banned. If Ant is fired, they should have to pay him to play his content.

Why? Sirius owns the content.

I don't think Sirius owns the content. I believe they licensed the content exclusively, from the O&A corporate entity.

The fact that O&A have used their WNEW/BAB audio on SXM makes me believe they own all old and current content.

This is purely conjecture but here's my take: When Anthony got fired, it triggered a clause in the O&A contract where the deal was no longer with the O&A corporate entity. It was now with Opie and Jim, separately. SXM's dealings with the O&A entity were terminated - along with SXM exclusivity of the content.

That being said - if O&A clips were used after the termination, Anthony could sue for improper commercial use of his content.

More proof that highlights this: all use of the name Opie and Anthony has ceased. It's not the name of the show nor the channel. Moreover, all the "radio gems" are gone.

Lastly, Opie also mentioned this week that he has to consider "changing the name (of the show), for future purposes."

Over a year of coming to this subreddit, and this is the most intelligent thing I've read.

Uhm no, that's not how it works. That's not how it works at all...

I wouldn't be surprised if Ant's still getting paid for the remainder of his contract.

Definitely, it would be cheaper and easier to just pay for a few more months than go to court over it.

This was my first thought too.

Cheap fucks.

It's not banned. They just don't want anything that associates with Anthony anymore. Opie has made that perfectly clear.

ehhah! you dont work in radio you dont know how things work so stahp hattin you douchebeg! - opie

Just subscribe, to help their numberssssss.

I look at paying as a way to help establish the future O&A show as an independent entity.

Opie and Anthony all know that ONLY together will either of their shows work, and with Anthony spending the next several months laying the groundwork it would take very little for them all to synch back up on this new platform by the end of this year.

Next week will be the Awkward silence, and scared Opie show podcast.

Where one waits for the other and nothing happens. It will be 6 hours long, and feature an hour of Lady Di calls.

Because that is what true fans want.

They can't run anything with Ant until SiriusXM settles any claim Ant might have on the use of his voice in prior broadcasts.

They don't want to have to pay him another dime at this point.

You sound way too informed

Guess he'll never been on Burr's podcast.
