Wayans brothers interview
0 2014-08-01 by [deleted]
Did anybody give a fuck about that interview? I haven't finished listening to it yet but I really fucking hate these guys. I hate when the show has dumb guests. It's like when they have those annoying reality tv Italians on.

Anyone who thinks them unfunny are too young for In Living Color.
The shit you call edgy was done 20 years ago by these guys.
Go back to Call of Duty subreddit kiddies.

"Double snap in a Z formation"

Antwon the bum, with his shit in a jar, the 2 over the top gay movie reviewers, Homie the Clown, Jim Carrey as fire marshall Bill. Try any of those bits on TV today, you would get sued for a: some kid starting a fire....b: some kid turning out gay.....c: your kid showing up at home with his shit in a pickle jar, and using it at the dinner table.
Keenan and Damon were the brains behind those bits.

Homie don't play that.

I too enjoyed that show. I was a kid 20 years ago, but we'd do anything to find a way to see it.

I think the point is that they are no longer that funny.
Just because you did something 20 years ago that was funny and edgy doesn't mean you're funny now.
If you listened to the interview you would realize that they aren't funny anymore. They were awful.

I thought the JJ Walker stuff was funny

all of his impersonations (George Wallace, DC Curry, Chris Rock) were pretty fucking spot on.... I figured it would go unappreciated with the typical O&A crowd :/
1 LizardKingRumsfeld 2014-08-01
I appreciated the DC Curry but he lost me with the George Wallace. I couldn't see it.

They're alright. Just a different style of comedy, more west coasty. The interview was so so, the aftermath was pretty funny though.

I just don't like black comics. I like comics. Those guys all have the same material and it's so unoriginal. Patrice wasn't a black comic, he was just a comic.
2 rottengymshorts 2014-08-01
Louis talked about that after Patrice died that black comics fall into the black category (which Patrice didn't). Its unfortunate too because most people expect that and the ones who try to break away end up being unknown. Patrice was an odd duck because he did things his own way and he was able to get as famous as he was.
That's what really sucks about his death. He was just starting to break through under his own terms.
-2 LizardKingRumsfeld 2014-08-01
Yeah I agree, Patrice was just a year or two away from the kind of fame Louis has now.

It would be unoriginal if like a newer comic came in and started doing it, but the Waynes' brothers came up with a lot of the jokes and premises hack urban comics work off of today.
2 rottengymshorts 2014-08-01
Just say black comics.
-1 LizardKingRumsfeld 2014-08-01
Thank you.
'Urban.' Awful.

I think it's obvious that the reason many of you didn't like the Wayans brothers' appearance was because it was the first time that guests like them haven't had the barely concealed hostility of one of the hosts running through their appearance. They were actually made to feel welcome by everyone in studio.
I were you I'd get used to that, because it's going to happen again and again and again. It's a new show now.

Love em. Mafakas like me wanna see em come back.

J-Roc?
1 He11razor 2014-08-01
Did they ever talk about Trailer Park Boys on the show? It would be fun to have them pay a visit.

Damon Wayans in Bamboozled was hilarious.
3 BumbiBestie 2014-08-01
I thought I was the only one who saw that movie. Check out Putney Swope if you liked Bamboozled.
1 [deleted] 2014-08-01
The rare Robert Downey SR reference on reddit - don't see that everyday!
1 RandyCool 2014-08-01
YES. Bamboozled rules. I need to revisit that one for sure.
-1 LizardKingRumsfeld 2014-08-01
Damon Wayans was a beast on In Living Color. For a while, everything he touched was hilarious.
1 Phantas_Magorical 2014-08-01
I thought the interview was shite, but I like some Wayans bros work.
0 LizardKingRumsfeld 2014-08-01
Agreed. Too many Wayanses for radio. But I like some of their stuff.
1 BumbiBestie 2014-08-01
I wonder why Keenen didn't show up ...
2 TexansAndMavericks 2014-08-01
they mentioned it, it was his son's birthday.
1 angryfetis 2014-08-01
I liked it. It wasn't comedy gold, but it was like listening in on a conversation. Which is really why I listen.
1 account9211 2014-08-01
present-day JJ walker impression was great. wayans bros made good guests. maybe OP needs to move on to the anthony cumia show where black guests will immediately be called niggers and berated.
1 LizardKingRumsfeld 2014-08-01
The JJ was so perfect and cranky.
1 [deleted] 2014-08-01
I like Sherrod, DL, Keith, Patrice, all of those guys are comics first and black second. They don't rely on being black to be funny. The Wayans brothers to me are the same as every other black comedian that does the same hacky material. It's the same thing when there are women comics that only do jokes about shopping which is awful and then there are great comics like Amy or Joan Rivers. There comedy stands up regardless of their race/gender. But if you want to take the typical like of "op is racist" then you can do that too.
0 kgt5003 2014-08-01
I didn't listen today after I read on the live feed thread that they were going to be in studio. Something told me those guys weren't in studio so Opie and Jim could fuck with them...
0 LizardKingRumsfeld 2014-08-01
Fair point.
-6 [deleted] 2014-08-01
Typical "loud black comics," no jokes, just being loud and saying "ka-razy shit." They fucking stink. I said in another post, I used to do open mics and Marlon Wayans would show up and just bomb for 5 mins straight. And the guy wasn't new to comedy, either. Couldn't even get 5 minutes together.
11 Drunken_Wizard23 2014-08-01
I can see why you used to do them. The guy was doing five minutes at an open mic, not taping an HBO special. Maybe he was just working shit out and bombing like every other comedian does.
1 Touch_Of_Red 2014-08-01
ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
0 SalsBrain 2014-08-01
Ya kidding! You mean that the hour specials we see aren't the comedians just riffing new material? So you mean to tell me that pro comics go onstage and try new material and they...... gasp tell bad jokes sometimes? I call tom-foolery on you sir!
Edit: Just wanted to say I am not a fan of any of them, so I'm not standing up for them. Although I did like the first few Scary Movies
-2 [deleted] 2014-08-01
No, he was not. I was a regular there, knew a lot of the other guys there and every single person said he stunk. That's why they don't get on any regular booked shows out here. It was back when (an unbeknownst to any of us) Dice's son was the open mic host. Who was actually pretty funny.
1 mikelp1973 2014-08-01
I bombed in the checkout line at the grocery store today. She didn't give a shit. It was a long walk out of the store.
1 LizardKingRumsfeld 2014-08-01
I thought I bombed telling a joke to a really hot woman checking out at PetSmart, but just as the feeling of dread and death washed over me, she and the cashier both started laughing, so I escaped.
1 mikelp1973 2014-08-01
I can tell you this much it was horrifying. Buying beer elsewhere today. Too ashamed to go back in there this soon.
