When did Howard Stern ban O&A from talking about him?

It was in 2000, but I don't know when.

I was just listening to a clip of Howard threatening O&A on September 13th, 2000, because they were apparently fucking with him the day before or sometime that week. There's a news article about Howard from Sept. 11th, 2000 that says that Howard had complained to their bosses earlier in the year.

So, something must have happened before Sept 11, 2000. Does anyone know what the date or incident was?

Yeah the gag started early/mid 2000 and they would still sometimes talk in code but if anything got to discriptive or a caller said his name they would get dumped out of etc.

As for an actual big incident I don't think there was one, The closest to one maybe was Rick had done a production peice befor he worked with O&A and had sent it to different shows then when O&A played it Howard claimed they stole it or something along those lines? Other than that I only heard stuff similar to what they say now with guest blocking and a Hoo Hoo every once in awhile.

Thanks. I did read a really old message board post that claimed that the Howard Stern Show had been keeping tabs on O&A since they were at WAAF in Boston. O&A did "Minority Jeopardy", which was basically a rehash of Howard's "Black Jeopardy" and there were some other bits that were copied as well.

On the flipside, it's very obvious that the HSS listened to and followed their competition closely, because even when Ant tried out for that Jackie contest, Gary Dell'abate somehow already knew about the Opie Show before Ant said anything.

As for them rehashing some of his stuff at WAAF I am sure they did because I think almost everyone did around that time.

When they hit their stride at WNEW (around the same time as the gag) I think both shows were monitoring each other because a couple times O&A made a few comments about something on Howards show that they had on their show a day or two befor, Never like bit stealing but soundboard stuff/obscure weird porn video etc type of things.

I wish management let O&A get away with more on that side of things because it would have been great radio but they got shit for even non Howard related things like having to stop playing a clip of a baseball announcer saying something dumb because he was also part of the company.

The gag order happened before then. I believe it was because of a surprise Stone Temple Pilots show that K-Rock had planned. Stern was supposed to announce it that morning and they announced it on their show the night before and gloated about how pissed Stern and K-Rock were gonna be. Stern started his show the next morning complaining about them without saying their name and said something about giving the company an ultimatum, which resulted in the gag order.

Fuck, you're right. I got that confused with them fucking with his song parody contest which was the Sept. 2000 thing.

April 4th 2000

That's it I think. I'll have to check out Howard's response, since I have all of his 2000 shows. Apparently Howard's response is part 2 of that video.

So when did the real bashing go on? When they got to xm?

I think so - it is when they had complete freedom to talk about him, a lot of dirty laundry got aired then.

There's a video of them discussing it the day after, I'll see if I can find it.
