In defense of Kurt, a lot of times when your writing a lot and searching for ideas in your head you wind up on something that you've seen before. I doubt he just lifted it, he's a very respected writer among comics. Personally when I write I try to google the premise/scenario/situation to death and see if it's been done but even that doesn't always work.
I'm sure he didn't lift it. Yes, they're both about a person saying 'cunt' while playing a game so the comparison is obvious, but Larry does it because he expects his friends to be okay with it and can't believe they aren't, very much in keeping with the tone of the world the show exists in. On the other hand Norton just blurts out a wildly inappropriate word around a bunch of old people which no sane human being would do ever. The curb sketch is a relatively grounded take on misreading a social setting and the awkwardness that can lead to, the Norton sketch is a lazy excuse to say cunt in front of old people.
Go figure a sketch starring Larry David, Julia Louis Dreyfuss and Cheryl Hines is better than one starring Jimmy Norton and a bunch of anonymous day players.
I thought of that scene when I saw it, but Jim has said before that he doesn't watch Curb Your Enthusiasm. Just a case of someone coming up with something that's already been done.
Much better monologue than the 1st episode, I think because there wasn't as much self-deprecation and more actual material and the One Step too far bit was great again.
The interview itself though was odd. It was interesting but anybody else could've been interviewing Rick and got the same stuff out of him. Jim's segway into the Snoop video was hilarious though.

That "cunt" skit is directly lifted from Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Except instead of playing Poker they're playing Parcheesi. Way to hide your plagiarism, Jim!

Jim should probably watch other comedians.

I couldnt believe what I was seeing. I know Metzger is a big Larry David fan, but jeebus. Gotta be a little more original...

So it's the same premise, but it makes less sense and wasn't done as well.

I noticed another one. The "N word while watching a Knicks game" joke from last week is something Artie Lange always references.

when keeping it real goes wrong meets the cunt joke from curb your enthusiasm

Someone stop this Scorch PFG TV ripoff!
2 FaroutIGE 2014-07-30
Somebody needs to tell Jim to stop shifting his weight back and forth between his feet during his monologue.
2 buttriot 2014-07-30
This was a lot better than last week's episode. Jimmy was much more comfortable and a very interesting guest.
2 aftershave 2014-07-30
This feels like a public access show from the 80's

Hope jim doesn't end up with a bunch of leftover guests that are simply doing the rogan/west coast podcast tour.

Rick Roff

Much better show this week. Jim was more comfortable and his guest was super interesting. But man he needs to do something about that blinking tick.

Yeah, I enjoyed it.

-2 highflyin 2014-07-30
Seemed to flow better then the first episode, but who gives a fuck about Rick Ross?
-3 [deleted] 2014-07-30
Rick Ross has an interesting story, but he's a boring guy...terrible on Rogans podcast.
2 [deleted] 2014-07-30
I wish there had been another guest on as well like last week.
10 KennethFresno 2014-07-30
Don't worry, Whitney Cummings is coming up. Boooo
3 [deleted] 2014-07-30
Well that's good, I'm sure there's a massive crossover between her fans and Jim's.
1 PresidentJonStewart 2014-07-30
If you're out to get as many views as possible, having a massive crossover of fans isn't what you need.
-9 MartyVanB 2014-07-30
The only time I laughed during the monologue was when he did the Carson thing. Punching out before I lose all respect
