Yep which is partially why I h haven't subscribed to Ants podcast yet. And I'm seriously considering reupping my Sirius.
I love Anthony and think he's a funny fuck. But I've noticed a difference these past few shows. I find myself listening to the ENTIRE show a lot now versus skipping around like I used to. Whenever I saw "race" or any other title on the ondemand app that I knew would just be Ants political rants I'd just skip it and lose a good hour or so of the show. Anthony has his moments and I miss the movie references / impressions but if I wanted a racial tirade I'd just go talk to my dad.
I listen on my break at work, driving home , while at the gym , doing housework etc. and I listen to be entertained not annoyed - which was usually the case when they went an hour long on shitty PC topics.
If Anthony can keep his show to comedy and phoners I'm all in, but until I get a taste of his show I'm sticking with OJ
If we've learned nothing from the past 20 years is Ant doesn't do phone calls. He'll deal with them for a little at the start cause he needs to "connect" with his fans but as soon as the callers disagree with his opinion its over.
Anthony is appealing to a very small audience, which people tend to forget. Anthony is great when he is around equally talented people in terms of wit and humor, but on his own, what does he have to offer? Race discussions? Political discussions? Gun discussions? I'm speculating here of course, but if I'm correct, you can find these topics being discussed on AM radio, 5 days a week, for free. I never unsubscribed to SXM, and am happy I didn't. The shows these past two weeks have been better than they have been in a long time.
I'm the same way. I have nothing against Anthony's politics but if he makes this a politics show I am dropping him. Once again I am a true fan and have nothing against his politics what so ever but if he discusses them I am leaving.
I thought he had to pay NYC taxes, state and LI taxes. Now wouldn't he just have to pay state and Long Island taxes? Then again he has his NYC apartment.
You only pay state and federal taxes. Not city income taxes. One city may have higher sales tax or an additional tax on cigarettes or gas. Chicago has a bottled water tax. But the location of where he works within the same state has no effect on his income taxes.
Dude, I have no idea about taxes in NY. Just going along with the old myth that Gene Simmons was perpetuating this week and got called out on, that millionaire pay 80% of the taxes.
I'm so sad that he's has to give back to society instead of blowing it all on blackjack and overpriced trinkets to put around his 90 degree pool. That's a burden nobody should carry. :(
He has been working at Sirius XM for ten years telling jokes for a living and should have at least earned 10 million a piece since 2004. Did a recent article say he made 3 Million a year?
"They might've stretched the numbers a bit. Little stretching of the numbers. Oh yeah. They stretched the numbers. ... Stretched it out a little bit. They may of stretched the numbers..."
She doesn't have a valid point. SiriusXM shouldn't have fired him. At this point Opie seems to be doing fine. He has his solo show he seemed to want backed up by Jim and a good assortment of comedians.
Some people say freedom of speech, some people say freedom from consequences. The only thing I care about is a free cup of coffee down at the job site.
Sure, but even Jim and pretty much everybody else agrees, he shouldn't have said that shit on twitter and saved it for the show. There is no denying Anthony put an end to the Opie and Anthony Show. SiriusXM did what any other publicly traded company would have done in this situation, which was to protect their brand and remove any threat attached to their name that would potentially lower their stock value.
That's ridiculous. How would it be any different had he said it on the show? Isn't that a representative speaking on SXM air? Their stock value didn't start going down until after they fired him.
JCP said "pretty much everyone agrees". I don't agree.
My argument with JCP's post is that Anthony put an end to O&A. He didn't - SXM did that. If SXM did what any other publicly traded company would have, they would have fired him had he tweeted it or said it. If anything you can make an argument that saying it over their air is much worse than on his private social media account.
She has no valid point. Opie was doing a lot better than he had any business doing, and if you don't believe me, check the "Opie has a new viral video" thread.
Are we really saying people deserve to get fired over racist tweets? It's like the world's gone mad. If Opie clings to this stupid company that he's complained about for years I'm done.
I turn on the tube and what do I see
A whole lotta people cryin' "Don't blame me"
They point their crooked little fingers ar everybody else
Spend all their time feelin' sorry for themselves
Victim of this, victim of that
Your momma's too thin; your daddy's too fat
Get over it
Get over it
All this whinin' and cryin' and pitchin' a fit
Get over it, get over it
You say you haven't been the same since you had your little crash
But you might feel better if I gave you some cash
The more I think about it, Old Billy was right
Let's kill all the lawyers, kill 'em tonight
You don't want to work, you want to live like a king
But the big, bad world doesn't owe you a thing
Get over it
Get over it
If you don't want to play, then you might as well split
Get over it, Get over it
It's like going to confession every time I hear you speak
You're makin' the most of your losin' streak
Some call it sick, but I call it weak
You drag it around like a ball and chain
You wallow in the guilt; you wallow in the pain
You wave it like a flag, you wear it like a crown
Got your mind in the gutter, bringin' everybody down
Complain about the present and blame it on the past
I'd like to find your inner child and kick its little ass
Get over it
Get over it
All this bitchin' and moanin' and pitchin' a fit
Get over it, get over it
Get over it
Get over it
It's gotta stop sometime, so why don't you quit
Get over it, get over it

She makes a valid point. Ant's irresponsibility does have the potential to fuck over Jimmy & Opie financially if SiriusXM does not re-sign them.

In other news, paying taxes sucks.

Oh geez, don't get Anthony started on taxes.
1 elitemrp 2014-07-24
At least he won't have to pay NYC taxes anymore right?
2 JCP_1975 2014-07-24
Wrong. He'll still be a millionaire, so him and the other millionaires will be paying 99% of the taxes while us working schlubs pay nothing. ugh.

He really shouldn't say bad words when a fist hits his face next time.
8 JCP_1975 2014-07-24
He shouldn't say them on the most popular social media site when he is employed by a publicly traded company.

Joe, you have a refreshing outlook on the world. So simple, yet so eloquent.
2 FancyAndImportantMan 2014-07-24
But Regular Joe, don't you think a free cup of coffee is entitlement?

Yeah, this don't sound like the real Joe.

You're right, but when you're angry because an insane hooker punched you in the face, these things don't cross your mind as easily.
I guess he should have read the "Words Hurt And Harm" booklet.

Opie was the one who said it would be different if Ant had said it on the air. Because they would have made it humorous.

I don't know why he's so twitter sad-face; Opie has said, several times, that he doesn't need to work anymore.
2 mancubuss 2014-07-24
He also says how sxm doesn't tell them how many people listen. So why would he care if people cancel?

Not even Tucker Max would believe that one.
