I missed the live feed but watched the replay. Watched on my iphone and one cool thing which I don't know if it's an iphone thing or the site but I accidentally stopped half way through and went back to the page. When I hit play again though it went right back to where it left off. That's good cause I hate when the app crashes or feed dies and I have to start over and try to remember where I was at and fast forward to it.

I helped Ant setup the site last year before all the hub-bub. The actual domain is hosted on a VPS, which is lackluster at best even at the level he is on... I tried to contact him to either change his host to a more shared environment with better bandwidth/hosting or to bump up to the next level VPN. Since the site is running through livestream and he's using scripting or iframe embeds to just plugin the merch, it would be best to tell inmotion hosting to go fuck themselves.

EDIT: The streaming is coming from livestream - which we use for live events all the time, runs like a champ, but again - inmotion hosting kinda sucks.

I work at a large online video provider. I'm hoping Ant (if he's rolling his own shit) is working with a CDN like Akamai or if not, is planning to have a reliable host for everything. I've seen far too many big ideas crash and burn by not investing in the right setup/infrastructure and losing their initial audience.

EDIT: Cool - he's using Livestream in tandem with Akamai. Now make sure your site can handle the traffic, Ant!

He keeps talking about changing servers. I don't understand why he doesn't just put the site up in the cloud and set it to scale out during showtime.

the video looked great to me on my comp, really nice hd quality. However I couldn't get into the site at all on my phone.

The lighting needs some tweaking, the colors he wore and set aren't the best either, so much brown. Nothing that can't be fixed.

Does anyone know if Ant can be censored by livestream for any content visual or audio? He would be if he was streaming on livestream website, but I don't think he is. it's purely an imbeded video on Ant's website. So not sure if livestream is the new sirius or if ant truly is his own boss and he can say or show anythiing

He may have issues - Rogan got nailed for showing YouTube clips, so Ant may get a C&D over that, and if he plays music he'll need to pay ASCAP fees.

To answer your question, I think his audio could use a little compression. In fact I think he should invest in some lapel mics and ditch the big studio mics and headphones. They get in the way of the guest's faces and are too directional for untrained speakers. Big mics and booms are fine for radio or studio work but this is essentially a TV show where the idea is that you can look at the people without obstructions.

But then he'd have to redesign his stolen Guinness logo.

I think he did it this way because he knows that the fans are clamoring to see something. These public test allow the fans to feel like they're helping him out, which is something that they want to do.

What you say would make more sense in a situation where you're booting up a show or a website cold, without an existing fanbase. Contrary to popular belief I think the majority of fans are more patient and less harshly critical than they are portrayed to be.
