I predict that, unless Opie and Lil' Yimmy come along, Ant is gonna be bankrupt in 5 years. He's a tremendously talented and funny guy, but he's something of a man-child; he's not a responsible dude. When he was on the SiriusXM payroll, all he had to do was show up and be funny for four hours and people threw enough money at him to keep his lifestyle going. Running your own enterprise is something else entirely; it takes business sense and responsibility and hard work.

I think he's already making a misstep with his pricing structure, which is much too high. I guess Brother Joe is going to be a big part of the operation, presumably because he's Ant's brother and Ant likes him. That's not a good reason. Ant needs to be involving "suits"; those pukey serious businesspeople that he hated at SiriusXM because they were wet blankets creatively. Those are the people that are good at monetizing creativity, wet blankets though they may be. He needs marketing people that can write a competent press release and get the word out through effective channels. He needs talented production folks. He needs lawyers.

He can't just be funny anymore. He needs to get a team together and run a business. I don't think he has the chops or the inclination to do that. I hope I'm wrong.

Sure. But almost every other "podcast" format show is free. Jay Mohr, Bill Burr, Joe Rogan, Bill Simmons, Marc Maron -- shit, even Dan Savage, and that's just to name a few.

And let's be honest: Ant's shows are going to show up on YouTube and various other streaming video sites. Lots of people are going to consume the show through those media; think about how many people listened to O&A exclusively through YouTube (I did, and still do). There's a robust discussion to be had about the morality of doing that, but the hard truth is that lots of people will "steal" when nobody's watching and there's practically no chance of being caught or punished. Why commit to paying $5 per month for a year when you can get the content for free? That's money that slips through Ant's fingers because a he's operating a subscription service. On the other hand, if you're running an ad-based service, then hey! From the sponsors' perspective, any listener is a good listener. If a million people are listening to the show through YouTube as opposed to anthonycumia.com, well, that's a selling point when you're negotiating with advertisers ("look at all the people that listen to my show!!"); it ain't a detriment.

A "cheap" price looks expensive when most comparable products are free and the very same product is available for free if you're willing to be a scumbag in private.

I'm very hopeful for an exciting new kind of show. My only fear is if it's all about hangers-on like his female twitter followers, Brother Joe and KTC sitting poolside looking at their cell phones.

I signed up for a 6 month sub. I am a bit worried about the same old rants - and I actually agree with Anthony on guns, race issues, politics (mostly), but it gets stale. I think he is smart enough to know that while this will definitely be a part of the show, it won't be a racial tirade every moment.

Like when O&A had boring celebrities, cooks, or athletes as guests, I would just tune out. I don't have to love every minute of the show, but I still get a lot of enjoyment from it as a whole. So I'm not too worried.

I predict the show going down the same route as the Joe Rogan Podcast. At first it'll feel fun and fresh, but then quickly the show will quickly become repetitive with gun and race rants (as opposed to Rogan''s overbearing mushroom philosophy).

I hope not (Ant doesn't have Rogan's stand-up and UFC income; this is it for him), but I have a feeling the proposed content and the intended audience are just too narrow to make this anything more than a modest success in the podcasting racket.

He lives near the LIE and it's only about a 40 minute drive. Since it's a subscription service, he can have a budget for sending town cars. He could also just have some of the "hanger-ons" work as drivers.

Also, he could film "remote" interviews in the city, and then throw to them during the live show.

Anthony by himself, I don't think is going to make a very funny show, it's just not possible without dialogue with funny guys like Louis CK, Bill Burr, Jim Norton, Jim Florentine, Dan Soder or at the very least with his partner Opie.

And if Anthony kind of goes unleashed with this racial stuff, without being made fun or argued with by co-hosts, he'll only attract the Storm-Front crowd, and put off everyone else because he's no longer a foil to someone on the other side (Bill Burr, Louis CK, Patrice) on racial matters.

The smart silent majority out there want to listen to Ant & Jim be fast and funny, and they sit there quietly as it happens. The arseholes think they've got something to contribute and call the show. If they're fucking dumb enough to think they can improve what Ant&Jim said, then they're too fucking dumb to be allowed on air. Hence, Opie sucks.

I'm nervous as well...it's tough doing a solo radio show. But it's Ant so it'll have laughs, but it could get stale if he doesn't have guests or comedians on.

He's going to have to have a co host or at least guest co host daily. If it's just him and tail riders it probably won't go well. Just off the top of my head some people that aren't out of the realm of possibility that could help co host that I'd like to see: Ari Shaffir, Bailey Jay, Sherrod Small, Andy Levy, Big Jay, etc. Hopefully he mixes it up like O&J have and this doesn't turn into LFTC renamed, that would be very bad. That being said... I'm subbed, I'm getting a month and hoping for the best.

I think all of those I listed would, that's why I included 'not out of the realm of possibility'. Going and doing a quality show with a good host is good exposure to a different audience than a Andy Levy or the rest would reach. Plus, Ant is friends, or at least friendly with all of them and they would do it for fun, or as a favor, either way I think he can pull in some folks... It's not like I'm saying Louis CK and Bill Burr are cruising to LI. Hell, maybe Ant will Ralphie May over, he would do it. Jay Mohr, Ronny B, etc. would do it. I think you're underestimating Ant's ability to make quality friends and connections. This is all up to him though, he can't expect people to just show up

He's been on radio for years, he's smart and hilarious, the product itself won't suck I'm pretty sure. The only problem I foresee is the fact that it's costing money right out of the gate. That will exclude a decent chunk of casual listeners and if he's getting small audiences he might lose interest himself.

I'll give it a month or two before I decide to cancel/continue. I trust that Ant has enough shit on the back burner that he wasn't able to talk about on the show to at least get him off the ground. Two months worth of this is still less than I paid for SXM per month, so I don't see much of a downside at this point.

I'm about 60/40 optimism/pessimism right now

I wish I was that optimistic. I've tried watching LFTC many times and was never able to hang in there for more than a few minutes.

I will absolutely check out his new show and wish the Moor all the best, but without him having someone steering the ship I could see this being pretty uncompelling radio. Pre-firing Opester was trying too hard to be important (and deserved the shit he received here,) but someone acting like post-firing Opie (great) helping to move the Ant show in the right direction could make for fantastic show.

I think he needs someone else steering the show. Obviously it's the Anthony Cumia Show, but if he just goes on about guns and black people for hours, completely unchallenged and with no one to get things back on track the way Opie did, it's going to fizzle. At the very least he needs someone else controlling the board and taking care of the visual stuff, because that distracts him from being entertaining way too often on LFTC.

That said, he seems to be taking this way more seriously than LFTC so far, which is great. That was fun to check out from time to time, but it's not something that would hold my attention for two hours a day, and it's not something I'd pay for. I want to listen to an actual show, not him rambling while 5 guys are standing around him drinking beer and laughing amongst each other. It needs to be structured and he needs to know when to put a leash on certain things.

I hate the idea of them apart, and do not agree with how Ant is going about this.

The Paywall is going to kill him, he needs something on I-tunes/whatever android app you use.

Start with that, add sponsors, talk to friends like Rogan, Florentine, Vos, , etc and ask for an in with those sponsors, free audio, paid video/live chat room, custom icon/emotes.

It's impossible to know until it starts (and probably at least a week goes by as I'm sure the first shows will be a lot of tinkering with buttons).

I doubt it'll just be LFTC though. That was just him at home drunk and bored. Now that this is his only outlet hopefully it'll be a legit show (although still him being drunk). The earlier and scheduled time slot should help and the fact people are paying for it will hopefully mean he'll put on a good show.

They NEED to have free content. The reason I paid for O&A is because I heard so much of the show already and thought it was worth paying for.

I'll give the Anthony show a month but if it bombs, I got plenty other stuff to listen to. One thing for sure, I'm not going back to O&J. It's not worth it, the company showed no spine in cutting Anthony, they never respect Opie or Jimmy or their staff at all. They're despicable and I will never give them a dime of my money.

Just to be fair, those songs were put together by a fan by cutting up clips of the show. They became so popular with other fans that they sang them live a few times. That said, those songs are good for a once or twice a year listen.

The man was forcibly separated from a show that has his name in the title a mere two weeks ago. Ant is doing the best he can considering the circumstances. Right now he probably feels that he can only trust his friends so these are the people he needs to start this. So give him like 1/100th of a break.
