The absence of impressions and TV/movie references is a huge hole.

I'm willing to give the new format a chance so this isn't a, "Waaaah! Bring back Anthony!" post. He's gone and this is the new reality. It's just overwhelming how different the conversational dynamic is now. This is most noticeable to me when they take a call; Anthony had a name, voice, and reference for damn near every situation.

"He's gone, and we could do nothing about it."

Tomorrow I'm going to listen to OJ in The Morning and stream Seinfeld, Independence Day, and that clip about the Moors in True Romance.

It's still real to me damnit.

I think it won't be a real representation of what they are trying to do with the show until tomorrow or maybe Wednesday. Today was all about the firing but tomorrow they will probably have to try to do some real material.

You're very hopeful.

Don't get me wrong, I already cancelled my sub last week and I think it's gonna probably stink, but unless they are gonna talk about Ant's firing all show every show until their contract is up today was just a one-off.

Yeah, you know what? You're right! This negativity is so pointless, we should all be hoping for the best! Maybe tomorrow's show will be the best show Opie & Jimmy have ever done!

Listens to tomorrow's show

At the start of the show "Hi, who's this?"

Fuck.

I will miss Ant saying "he needed the money". God if only he did that more often.

Oh ya?

I like how today's show is being critiqued as if they should have tried to be funny and riff on news stories like nothing happened, and also how today went is how the rest of the contract will be.

The impressions had mostly become annoying - something he would do just because he could. but the references will be hugely missed, by me anyway. Jimmy knows a lot of them but you need someone to bounce them off of.

Hopefully they will bring in some good guests who can add another dimension to the show.

For real. At the end of yesterday's show Opie said the line "its a very difficult situation". I kept expecting ant to repeat it in the Tony Soprano voice.

I think Anthony was the most entertaining permanent fixture of the show. Opie drives the conversation and gets $3 million a year for it, but Ant constantly riffed and had shit coming out of his mouth, and that's why I listened to the show, not to hear a guy constantly make it about himself HOLD ON HOLD ON HOLD ONNNNNNNNNN

Maybe someone under the age of 50 can join the show and use references newer than 1985?

That's satellite's audience though. 20 year olds aren't paying for Sirius, at least not in any great numbers.

this, those references were way overused, i love those movies too but holy shit.

One year into the XM run and I never wanted to see The Shining ever again
