Tough Crowd Part 2

Does anyone else crave a Tough Crowd remake? My truly favorite O&A shows are when it's a bunch of comedians all just pounding each other. Laugh my ass off. I would love to see them all on there just making jokes at each other.

Side question: why wasn't Ant ever on tough crowd?

Op and Ant were not allowed on radio/TV due to the non-compete after the Sex for Sam firing

Which is why it would be dumb for Opie, and Jimmy especially to walk away now. Sxm would slap them with no competes faster than they could say "we're done". A no compete could ruin jimmys career and probably have his vice show taken from him.

Tough Crowd on Comedy Central today... It would be Janeane Garofalo moderating with Tig Notaro, Margaret Cho, Wanda Sykes, and Mo Rocca on panel. They would be debating how to properly refer to pre-op transexual males. HILARIOUS!

Literally everyone that's heard of Tough Crowd wants it to come back.

It has cult status now, and America and CC wasn't ready then.

Tough Crowd on today's Comedy Central. Yeah, totally possible.

It doesn't have to be on Comedy Central you idiot.

HBO, SHOWTIME, NETFLIX, IFC, YOUTUBE etc. There are tons of different platforms where the show could be commercially successful or at least has the potential too.

The Anthony Cumia Show.

The name "Tough Crowd" could still belong to Comedy Central/Viacom.

"Ladylegs and friends"

"The frienemies of Quinn"

"Old finished man rambles"

"Broadway star interviews lowlifes"

"The way we were - A retrospect into the life of Colin Quinn and the ungreatful people he made in the biz"

Comics Unleashed with Ken Fresno

Haha. Why did we all get tricked into thinking about it without realizing that obvious point right away. Magic...

Are you being sarcastic? I honestly don't follow Comedy Central. Do you mean it's too PC or whatever to allow something like that?

My sarcasm gets quite cunty, my apologies, sir. Yeah, I really couldn't imagine them pulling it off in this day and age, they would make the host and panel new, young, Comedy Central-approved comedians. I always considered Tough Crowd to be for it's time anyway.

I totally see what you mean. It would be like Aziz, Amy Schumer's ex (can't recall his name) and Zach Galifinakis. Haha terrible.

Patrice at the Sheen roast: "I refuse to learn his last shitty name. I learned Galifinakis, that's the last shitty last name this nigga's gonna learn in this fuckin' funky town"

Anthony Jeselnik is the comedian who dated Schumer

South Park and Tosh.0 aren't politically correct. Always Sunny reruns air on Comedy Central and that might be the least politically correct show of all time. I don't think there would be any problem as far as content goes. It'd be a good show to follow The Daily Show when Colbert leaves for Letterman's job.

If political correctness isn't an issue, then having the same comics from Tough Crowd on again would be, since the people at Comedy Central would say something like "they're great, but we need comics our audience can relate to", cue the guy that tells jokes while playing a keyboard and the quirky awkward bearded fella that seems to only own flannel. And they would all be pandering to the audience, so that jar that would come down that the pandering comic would put $20 in wouldn't exist.

Well if they are trying to appeal to the Tought Crowd audience, they wouldn't really do well to get shithead comics. However, there really aren't many good comics left who aren't doing their own thing now. Except for Vos... and he's a dummy.

Another reason having the same comics would be an issue is that many of them are dead.

Yeah, that'll usually put a damper on things

Greg Geraldo was the head writer despite Colin being the host, Patrice was also a huge part of that show.

I would love to see a show with a similar format though.

Not to mention Executive Producer/Blues Traveler Video Star/ Remote Control alum Ken Ober. Dead as well.

You sound like Jimmy when he asked if Colin was shopping it to other networks "Oh my god it hadn't occurred to me!"

I'm just not sure it could ever be replicated. I used to think that it might work on radio or something (this was in 2004 right after it got canceled) but I quickly realized that even that wouldn't be the same. Not to get too melodramatic about it, but it was just the right group of comedians, at the right point in time.

Why not have the new Tough Crowd on the Anthony Cumia Network!?

Oh man. If Anthony became a media mogul that would be amazing!

Oh man. If Anthony became a media mogul that would be amazing!

I just wish we knew how many O&A fans there are.

He doesn't have to be a media mogul to let them use his studio.

why stop there, why not have him be a superstar b-ball player and a ten inch dick media mogul, it's your own fantasy world, a place of endless wonder

Tough Crowd is the reason I started listening to O&A. I had never heard of Opie and Anthony, but I knew Jim Norton from Tough Crowd. I heard that Jimmy was part of the Opie and Anthony show, so I started listening. Not too long after that, I heard other familiar voices from Tough Crowd, like Patrice, Vos, Dipaolo, Colin Quinn, and Giraldo. O&A filled the void that was once filled by Tough Crowd.

In this PC age with more of the major networks getting a leftward slant, no way is tough crowd coming back. On TV, probably the closest thing to an honest discussion is Fox's Red Eye, after that you have a few podcasts that have great discussions, but the only host who is truly un-PC is Carolla. And even he primarily pontificates without debate, though he'll debate anyone, but after the Gavin Newsom interview, I doubt many will take up that challenge.

People saying the core group, Colin, Patrice, Geraldo, Nick, Jimmy, Vos and Keith were the show are 100% right. They had points of view, but even then, half of the best parts of the show were them just slamming each other...."Shut up stupid!"...."Have another sip of timing"..."You stink!!"

We'll never get that chemistry again. Ever.

PC? Waddya mean, computers of sumpin? tsss tsss

It's been almost 10 years since it was cancelled. Jesus.

Maybe they can make it happen in Ant's studio, if not a comedy club out there. We've got to pound Colin Quinn with a request for Tough Crowd part 2, he somehow has the power to (barely) rein in the (un)stable of comedians to make it a show as a host.

People that think the show couldn't be replicated today because of the current crop of available comedians are idiots. Potential comedians who could be on the show: Attell, Burr, Burress, Jimmy, Ant, DiPaolo, Vos, Bobby, Derosa, Jim Jeffries, Amy Schumer, John Mulaney, Todd Barry, Zach Galifinakis, Aziz, and plenty of other comedians.

Would be great but I think it would have to be on premium cable. Based on the success of Talking Funny I think the demand is clearly there. People love watching comedians talk about shit. Unfortunately I think any network would try to push it in an overly progressive/PC type way and might destroy the show.

Also, Jay Mohr needs to be co-host in Colin character for every show.

Sherrod smalls, Metzger, big Jay, soder... Endless amounts of up and coming comedians that could easily fill the void.

JBL V Vos v Roland. Youtube it. Funniest o n a battle

Tough crowd sucked and the ratings showed that

You sucked and the mushroom stamp on the back of your throat showed it.

PC? Waddya mean, computers of sumpin? tsss tsss
