SiriusXM's response to my cancellation notices sent to corporate "brass-holes (tssss)"
7 2014-07-10 by NiceBreakfast
Hello PinkSocks,
We appreciate you taking the time to contact us regarding the termination of Anthony Cumia’s contract with SiriusXM. As we announced, the company carefully considered this situation and decided to terminate the relationship. We understand that not everyone will agree with our position and respect that your opinion may vary from ours, but his remarks and behavior are inconsistent with what SiriusXM represents. Opie and Jim Norton will be back on the air on Monday, 7/14 on channel 206 for Sirius radios and channel 103 for XM radios. We hope that you continue to enjoy SiriusXM programming and remain a customer.
Best regards,
SiriusXM Corporate Relations Team
anyone else get this?

So what are SiriusXM going to call the show now? If they actually change it to The Opie Show, that will cause a lot of problems.

What about 'The Nighttime Attitude'?

The Kidd Kraddick morning show continues to be the Kidd Kraddick morning show. BTW , the guy has been dead almost a year.

no way O&J would ever disrespect 20 years of history by renaming the show. I expect a 3 month bashing of siriusxm.

Followed by OnJ re-signing. They've been bitching about SXM for years. Now is their chance to make big on all their shit talk.

Resigning is what you mean. Could get confusing

Sxm has a contract with an entity to provide a show called the o and a show to its airwaves. The show brand is what is contracted. The fact that they terminated the relationship with a member of that show does not null the contractual obligation the entity has. Therefore everything should remain the same except the individual who is no longer allowed on sxm property and its airwaves.

Do you not see the problem with one half of the name of a show not being there though? His name is in the title, I think firing one third of the brand that they have contracted means changes.

the trademark itself belongs to opie and bob eatman

Actually it is owned solely by Opie. The c/o stands for care of. Basically, as the agent, Bob took care of the paperwork for Opie but he holds no ownership.

I'm not going to cancel until I see what next week brings, but in the meanwhile, I will refuse to give my business to any company who I know is a sponsor of SiriusXM (I have been unable to find a list of sponsors online). If I am unsatisfied with what comes out of next weeks shows, I will cancel my subscription and I shall continue my personal boycott of their sponsors in perpetuity, and encourage friends and family to do the same to said products or services, whenever the opportunities present themselves. I'm only one person, so I'm sure the "powers that be" don't really give a fuck, but it will be my own little "fuck you" to SiriusXM, and the businesses who, by proxy, support their restrictions on free speech and expression.

But without your support, Steven Singer and the Squatty Potty may fold, causing the rest of the company to collapse like dominoes

Or, if enough people do it (unlikely) they will spend their advertising dollars elsewhere. One time, I bought a bitch one of the gold dipped roses, because of advertising that I heard on O&A.
-1 NiceBreakfast 2014-07-10
in all honesty im waiting until i hear what Opie & Jimmy have to say next week (possibly 2), and then its over charlie. I pay siriusXM 2 subs because i want to listen to O&A while i drive. I have no qualms about just downloading the shows to listen to instead. Syndication Underground!
I've been an O&A fan going on 15 years, an XM subscriber for 6. I paid for my sub because i felt guilty about not paying the boys what they were due, but i fucking refuse to deal with a company that fires people for their free speech on their own free time. Fuck all radio wizards.

I had 2 sub's but canceled one and will just download from the app.
