How long will it take to get the two of them back together?

Jimmy said on twitter that they are bound by contract. But said contract can't last forever, and I can't see Ope and Jimmy re-signing at SXM without Ant. Which leaves the obvious outcome of The boys getting the band back together for a podcast. So just how much time is left in their contract?

October....

But if you have been listening to anything Anthony has been saying, it doesn't seem that way. Ant is going to do a produced version of Live From The Compound starting in August.

Nobody has made a mention to the guys getting back together, and the general vibe is they are wishing one another luck in future endeavors

My hope is that Ant is getting all the equipment set-up for when Opie & Jimmy are free (along with Erock, Sam, and others) to start a podcast that is all theirs with no lawyers or management. But that may just be my hopes

A bit of an update

RT @craighymo: do you ever think you @OpieRadio and @JimNorton will be reunited someday?

-I'd hope and yeah, expect it some day. We rule!

I have interpreted all that as vagueness about the future because there is no reason for any of them to decide what will happen in October at this point. It is unlikely Anthony is doing anything that locks him into a long term commitment. The best way to decide what should happen in October is to experiment with separate shows and see what might work.

It's in both of their best interests, financially and otherwise, to not be vocal about what Opie's intention is after the contract is up.

I don't think it will ever happen. I hope I'm wrong.

Even if Ant had stayed, I really saw this being their last renewal anyways. When you think about it, we're really only robbed of 2 years of new radio with the classic formula. One silver lining in all of this is that it seems like it's sort of lit a fire under Anthony's ass and it's getting him excited again. I think Sirius really has been crushing their spirits.

It's very likely that it will never happen.

I suspect they'll cross paths again someday. But even if Opie and Jim were completely all in on that idea they can't come out and say it. Contracts are silly and stubborn things. lawyers even more. Especially since all eyes are on all three of them right now.

I'm sure come October, they'll have Anthony coming back as a clause in the negotiations. If that doesn't work, podcasting it is.

It is much easier to fake an "OK, I've learned my lesson while I was gone" than an apology.
