I wouldn't have been shocked with the firing if this was his first time ranting about blacks on twitter and SiriusXM canned him for it. What was shocking was that it was nothing he hasn't done a million times before and it was significantly tamer than some of his twitter rants from the past. It was shocking that Sirius didn't even hesitate to put some thought into their decision before going ahead with the firing. Maybe it shouldn't be shocking considering they've been treated like shit since the merger.

I've been an everyday listener for the last few years and firing was the last thing I expected. When you hear the stunts that got them fired before, I thought "well they are way passed that awesome stuff these days"

It just feels weird. Unless they go podcast (which it sounds like they don't plan to) we won't hear Opie & Anthony with Little Jimmy again.

Agreed. It hasn't set in for me yet. After having listened every day for ten years, the idea of the show being broken up doesn't seem real yet. It feels like the boys are on vacation but on Monday it will be very real. Cautiously optimistic that whatever manifests from this whole thing will be positive.

Yeah. I logged on twitter in the midst of his initial rant and immediately thought "uh oh" as he kept going on and on. Was surreal to watch it all unfold over the following 48 hours or whatever.

When I get away from this subreddit and just think about this whole thing to myself, yeah, honestly it makes me really sad. Hard to believe three guys doing a radio show should have such a major impact on your everyday life.

Didn't settle in with me until I heard "Ant-less" Best of this morning with Opie and Ronnie B. I like Ronnie B just fine - but Anthony was a one of a kind.

Yeah its just going to be so weird. I wish they had just not re-signed with Sirius and done their own thing (even in 2012), but hindsights 20-20.

I definitely kind of assumed they would have all come back, until the recent incident. Especially since the drama was REALLY amped up for signing in 2010 and (a little less) for 2012 and they seemed a little more forward-thinking in the Unmasked interview.

I've moved on to sorrowful acceptance. It's going to get worse when it's five months of The Gregg & Jim Show vis-a-vis LFtC. Two entities working apart when they should be together.

I think it has to do with the contracts being up in October and them bashing Sirius. Both Opie and Anthony hinting they wouldn't sign new contracts stop doing the show etc.

Maybe I"m thinking to much into it. But now with just Opie and Jim they can offer them a lot less money and don't have to pay Ant anything.

And no one on this sub is actually talking about them. I can't understand why. I never listened to the show but I'm a fan of Norton and I know he was on the show. I've also listened to Patrice's stuff. The ensuing news mess made me interested in the show. Aaaaand then I read the tweets. I don't know Anthony's other opinions but he seems like he's taken Carolla's casual racism and upped it to 11.

I wasn't surprised that Anthony got fired. I always knew his racism could end the show; I was just surprised at how mild it was. He got punched by a black woman, and then he called her a cunt, a savage, an animal and a nigger. Then says there is a problem with violence in black community. It was all very mild.
