What could happen

This is all just my dumb opinion.

Pessimistic View:

Ant goes all in on LFTC and it becomes a Conservative rant-fest. It lacks the structure and guests that he needs to be funny and it peters out after a year or so. Jimmy sticks to his Vice show and achieves approximately Chelsea Handler-level fame where he has a fan base, but not much of an impact. Opie retools the show and brings on a new second mic (Soder, maybe) and it stays in the marginally-funny range while the show sinks into obscurity and dies a few years later because of equipment issues.

Optimistic View:

After a brief hiatus, the boys bounce back like they have before and use their newfound notoriety to increase their audience. There is basically no reason to believe this will happen.

Oh-Please-God-Let-This-Happen:

Opie comes back on air later this week announcing Jim as the 2nd mic and a rotating 3rd mic of great comedians. They all lie low for a while while Ant builds up his podcast channels. In October when their contracts are up, the guys start into Jocktober with a vengeance while teasing a Jocktoberfest party at the end of the month. Since months have passed, Ant is allowed to come in to plug his podcast and to join in the festivities. Friends of the show arrive on the 31st for one last hurrah as Opie the Destroyer goes after Howard Stern. He plays through clips of Howie name-dropping A-listers and droning on about AGT and proves that whatever made him famous is long gone. At the end of the show, Opie smashes up the studio while finally saying what he's always wanted to say about Sirius and announcing that he and Jim are joining Ant on LFTC to pick up where they left off. They reveal a new website and dedicated app to listen and interact with and memberships are $5/mo. All is right with the world.

Well at least if that happend we'd be totally up to date on reality shows

I dont think Opie wants his final radio legacy to be a slow burnout. He's gotta try to do something with Ant even of its only a week - long podcast wrap-up tell-all. Also it's doubtful we'll ever hear Ant on SXM ever again, whether it's in person or over the phone. The company legally distanced themselves from him and any deviation of that might have ramifications.

Jimmy needs to do a metal show doing his comedy with florentine on a music channel somewhere interviewing legends of rock, but on tv instead of radio. It is what he knows, and he knows a lot of rockers to get them on the show. I would watch the shit out of it.

Opie needs to start a new show with a great crew around him in a market in buffalo.

Ant will rock it at LFTC, seething in hatred for the government and minorities, slamming drinks while fucking hot trailer park girls.

Sam will go on to join the McMahon team, once he is introduced to steroids his career will explode.

Erock will go on to be a rich radio executive.

Who cares about Sal.

Their contracts are up at the end of October, right?

Pretty sure it's September 30th. They've joked before that the only reason they re-signed was to be able to do Jocktober.

:(

What I'm really wondering is whether they have a non-compete period after the contract lapses. I'm hoping they could jump into a podcast right away.

Who knows? Not a lawyer in any sense of the word, but would a non-compete clause really apply to a podcast? Especially if their contract lapses naturally like they're most likely gonna let it?

Not a lawyer either. I think that the language of most non-compete clauses is to restrict a, let's say, on-air personality from immediately jumping ship to an established, competing station.

To my understanding, it is murky whether or not this applies to a podcast. In this case we are not really dealing with the transfer of trade secrets, clientèle information, business practices, or the unveiling of new products, so it's hard to see how SXM could claim injury on any of these grounds but I don't know.

I think it is the beginning of October, but regardless, around that time.

That sucks if true. That means we won't be getting a Jocktober if they don't renew :(

ENOUGH with these threads about what you want to happen for fucks sake.

I'm sorry I made you read this. I really should know better.

Your sarcasm is pointless because you should know better.

Why do you think people would care specifically about what you want?

I agree wholeheartedly with your (possibly optimistic) prediction, right down to the pricing structure. :) /r/opieandanthony/comments/2a2eni/an_opie_anthony_jimmy_podcast_supported_by_the/

haha..people are starting to write their own O&A fan fiction...you are officially Erock
