Carolla is good guy, I figured we'd be able to rely on him for support.

Alison also talks about him in the news section, After the Joan Rivers story. I just perused through the podcast to find the Ant stuff(i'm subscribed to carolla's podcast and him talking about cumia was in the show description),but it's worth a listen. He talks about how the people that do this don't care about the people they are supposedly defending, how SiriusXM started out as a hip company and is now the man, also referenced Jonah hill, he invited them on the show to talk about it etc etc. Mostly very supportive considering their past differences. Great exposure,he is one of the most popular podcasts out there. A lot of thanks to that caller in Boston. EDIT:How fucking weird it is that Ed Asner is today's guest,You know the one that gave Opie his nickname "The destroyer"

"Ed Asner is today's guest" - he clearly didn't recognize the name Opie and Anthony though!

I kept hoping he'd remember that and call them names.

I feel like the only time I hear of Ed Asner is when he's on the 2nd tier media outlets I listen to like Carolla and O&A

Ant will be on Carolla pretty soon, in the next month or two. He's gonna hit the podcast circuit to promote LFTC and whatever new ventures he gets into.

He's so fucking right about the reverse-mccarthyism thing

Carolla is a great broadcaster and made some valid points. I just wish he wouldn't have to lap Howard's ball's in the process. To say Howard is anti-PC in these times is just a lie.

Adam is a HUGE Stern guy. Can't knock him for the love he throws his way.

Well, it was 15-20minutes, but some bullet points:

Sirius is within its legal right to fire him, just like when a comedian says something in his stand-up act, and he gets fired from his sitcom.

But, SiriusXM was created for, and marketed as, being edgy. "We can say 'cunt' and 'fuck' here." It's just weird when someone who starts out going up against "the man" becomes "The Man."

It's almost this reverse McCarthyism, where everyone is telling on everyone, and the really weird part is that no one is sincere about being offended anyway.

Carrolla said "we started a pirate ship here, no one can fire us, and O&A need to build a pirate ship."

O&A need to build a pirate ship

he's supporting anthony

Very vague.... "It's strange now a days that you can get fired over twitter" Dudes just totally uninformed, which is fine I suppose

...he was using the word "over" as in "because of", not as in "via". Any was fired because of the twitter rants that got picked up by internet tabloids. Sirius fired him via email, not via Twitter, which Carolla didn't comment on the method used to fire him anyway.

Carolla's interview with Gavin Newsom is the sort of thing Anthony could be doing if he can keep his anger in check.

Love how Ed Asner of all people defended some of ants tweets lol

They go over it again near the end. Some hole read out the tweets that he put up and Adam said that if it was a white person who attacked him and he called them animals no one would care. He's basically saying Ant was justified in saying things out of anger.

Alison Rosen is actually funny and completely not a "hole" whatsoever.

true statement, alison is the (wo)man

I was furious when they hired another 'newswoman' but Alison has been hilarious since day 1.

Haha! I knew someone would pick me up on that. I've honestly got no prior knowledge of Carolla's show and was just being flippant.

Alison is less of a hole then most men are in the radio/podcasting business.

Yea if it were a white person he wouldn't have said animals or savages. That's the point.

I don't think you can know that for definite. Carolla made that point that if he personally was attacked by a group of white guys he would have conceivably described them as a "gang of savages".

Why are we going to act like we don't know Anthony? I mean come on we know what it was and we've been hearing it for quite a few years.

Plausible deniability? I dunno. It was more from an outsiders perspective. Carolla made the point and I agree with it. But you're right Anthony's views and previous statements do muddy the waters somewhat. In this case it was slightly more justified though because he was attacked...and he chose to insult those attackers on Twitter with insults. Also personally when I hear the word "savage" my thought isn't black person. I either think of Tarzan/amazonian types...or I think of a UFC fighter who beats people up for a living. That's all subjective though I guess...I'm adding nothing now...just worthless babble. Sorry.

No reason to be sorry i don't have a particular agenda for the discussion. This definitely hurts a bit cause I often see Opie and Anthony as a show that's fairly "meta" in that they understand and discuss the nature of media, what public comments and actions really mean, and the reasoning behind them.

While not everyone thinks of these things the same way, Anthony definitely knows what he was saying. I say if he wants back in he goes with a condition or something.

I bet if they were ghetto acting white kids he would have.

I'm sure he has another word for that. Anyway he got fucked up on angst. I can tell cause now his latest tweets are "I have a black friend" which he almost certainly wouldn't do normally cause of how obvious it is.

Like wiggers? Or white thugs? He's known Carlton for a while and has tweeted and talked about him before. He's making fun of the fact that everyone thinks he's talking about all black people when he's really talking about a certain group of them.

Wow he is long winded and uninteresting. I've tried listening to his podcast three or four times and find him unbearably boring.

I think his main point is that people should be able to say unpopular things without losing their jobs. And that Sirius has gone from being sort of 'against the man' to being 'the man.'

Give it a few tries it grows on u

I wanted to like it but two things drove me insane. It felt like a staged radio show, like they had bullet points to get to and I hate that rigid boring format. The other thing is I heard a comic go on and just did his act, which was stuff he had in a Comedy Central hour special. I just couldn't stomach listening to another show.
