Knee Jerk Reaction VS Free Market.

I think it's interesting how this is all playing out among us listeners. That SXM fired him before even seeing any market reaction to his tweets, and now, us as listeners are trying to use the "market" angle to get him back. Rather than the market deciding that he should be fired, the market is (HOPEFULLY) deciding that it wants Anthony back (à la Phil Robertson)

pandering to cultural Marxists (read: social justice warriors), is not the free market. The free market is based on numbers / science / math and not hurt feelings. Anthony being ousted is literally a response to 'hurt feelings' and not sound business practice.

That's what I'm saying. They didn't use the free market to make the decision, now we're trying to use it to reverse their decision.

you are the part of the problem and you dont even realize it. this has nothing to do with any liberalism at all. there was no ground swell of anti-anthony tweets or no facebook pages, there were no protests. it was only a few pieces restating what was tweeted. stop think inside your small little bubble and thinking you are fighting the "good fight". when you strip this down it is nothing more than corporatism at it's finest, all of these things are now. with all the power and money being consolidated into few and few sources it cause these corporation to have knee jerk reactions now. they need as much money from as many sources to keep the structure alive. corporations dont have political agendas or social responsibilities, they only have to deal with is their bottom line and they react to with the slightest chance it will effect them in a negative way.

Entertainment execs dont use the free market anymore. They just fire at the drop of a hat. They're all afraid and panic in a knee jerk reaction.

all they care about is bad press and the bottom line. they have their own charting system. they want to minimize the damage fast so it doenst hit the market. sad but true.

free market reaction to sxm is to cancel subs, it'd work but... sadly a huge % hear them via non-live pirated sudo-podcasts... for those folks their "cancellation" voice will never be heard.

I sub, but never judged if you don't, just a shame you can't contribute now when it matters most.

'Wants Anthony back'??

Back to what? There likely isn't going to be another live show.

And as for Phil Robertson, please remember that he was suspended, not fired.

Seriously? You can't see the similarities between the two situations?

None. Robertson was suspended, pending a decision by A&E to fire him or not. The suspension was lifted when the network decided not to.

Ant was fired. Period. No suspension, no review, nothing. Fired.

The O&A show might possibly continue as a podcast of some kind (I don't think it will, but it's certainly possible); but as for SiriusXM? It's over. The O&A Show is gone for good.

Dude they made a decision before letting the market react to it. then the market made their impact afterwards. There is a parallel. Stop acting like you see none.

Why do you want to believe this?

You do realize that Duck Dynasty makes many times over the amount of money for A&E than O&A do for Sirius

I'm talking about the way they took him off then there was a response from the fans. What does the fan base size have to do with it.

Since this thread is about the free market they amount of money involved seems relevant.

Once again, I'm not talking about the ability. In both cases the network reacted before seeing any market reaction, and in both cases the markets were forced to try reversing change. They were successful with duck dynasty because of the size of the fanbase. Who knows i'f this will change sirius' mind. The point is, the sequence of events was the same.
