Looks like Sirius has pissed off shareholders too

I saw this over at the change.org "reinstate anthony cumia" petition, posted by Jared Fried from Syracuse, NY:

"Sirius have failed to recognize that their biggest competitive advantage in their current market is uncensored speech. Sirius was able to differentiate their product by offering unfiltered/uncensored content to their consumers. Firing Anthony Cumia has negated any of their differentiation/competitive advantages that they had built up against their competition. This was a poor choice for their stockholders and paying customers."

I'd bet this guy isn't even a listener. He's just looking at things in terms of what this firing does for Sirius stock. This is good to see.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. I'm kind of excited to see the stock prices next week.

as a professional i am already getting ready for a big dip in stock prices it may take till there next earings report comes out but this is the beginning of the end for them. They have to differentiate themselves from the pandoras of the world. If i want commercial free music theres a lot of ways to get it. Content is everything. thats why netfilx is winning the streaming war.

I don't think it's as big an impact as you're hoping.

I'm not signing anything without my lawyer.

I doubt Sirius stock will ever go up. However around 1998 I had about 15 grand in the bank. A friend of mind said I should invest part of it in Apple stock. I think it was about 2 bucks a share. I could've sold last year and made a healthy profit. Instead I bought a Mustang Gt and the rest went to pot and cocaine. So what do I know?

If you look at a split-adjusted history AAPL in 1998 will look like penny stock. Factor in 28x value for splits, and we're looking at $20s and $30s per share.

I bought in 1996, held, and bought more. But I ain't got no sweet 'Stang.

Me neither. All I have is beer and Nintendo and misery. I have nothing else left.

guy is from NY -- i guarantee he's an O&A fan ...

Competitive advantages are a marketing thing if I remember my stupid marketing class from 10 years ago, something that they can leverage in competition for consumers dollars and their competitors in the ENTIRE marketplace can't. So what this guy is talking about is the fact that one of the main competitive market advantages Sirius has/had over other radio stations was the ability to offer uncensored content. When you compare Sirius to every other awful boring AM/FM/Youtube/whatever podcast radio stations where people literally get fired if they say 1 tiny thing that goes off script and can't be creative at all, that WAS a major advantage. With Cumia's firing they have flushed that competitive advantage down the toilet because now all of the shows on Sirius will become JUST LIKE normal boring AM/FM crap because they don't want to get fired like Ant did. Totally boring, predictable, filled with gaping holes. For your shareholders that is going to suck because your sales will go down. The main reason Walmart has kicked so much ass the past 20 years is because they were one of the first big stores to use computer networks to integrate their distribution making it more effiecient, their main competitive advantage. Sirius firing Cumia would be like Walmart throwing out all their computers and going back to typewriters, both examples of losing a competitive advantage in a marketplace.

Hope that was kind of understandable and not too boring. Maybe I've had too many mushrooms and jagermeisters and I"m totally forgetting marketing class. It's been awhile.

Not a stockholder..but I did write it with a pseudonym that combined the names of creampie jones and bd dave

I own sxm stock. I went long on it and have made profit already.

I will be selling my shares on Monday. (Albeit not many to begin with..)
