Even if it's true. They don't want to lose the subs. Drop your account and reinstate once Anthony is back. Make it hurt so they don't get to avoid the additional cancelations.
Do the same shit they did. Cancel immediately without thinking of what happened. Fire THEM, distance yourself from THEM. Then, if he ends up coming back, re-subscribe. It's not hard.
Technically, Anthony was fired, the press statement was made, so wouldn't they have to re-sign him to make that happen? There is no way they would go grovelling back to him and give him that much leverage, especially if they fired him with a morality clause.
Investors probably rank subscribers who only listen to one channel pretty low on the value charts. Retention is high with subscribers like them but their propensity to expose themselves to different ad campaigns on varying channels is low.
So they would make a choice. Either have the company hire back what the public views now as a racist and tarnish the brand, or eat the couple thousand cancellations. It will hurt in the short-term but would keep numbers rock steady in the long run.
Even if they backtracked on this firing (which I promise you they will not, the deed is done), they would have to consider the fallout internally. What would Oprah, Jamie Foxx or Robin think? What of the other black or more liberal DJs and hosts?
Oprah would likely distance herself from the company to save her own brands value. And Sirius needs names like her's and Jamie to attract subscribers (even if she doesn't garner many listeners).
I know it's not the answer most of us want to hear, but it is the nature of business. :(
Seeing as how Jamie Foxx is a comedian, I doubt he'd give a shit. Oprah has far more important things to give a fuck about, and Robin's been sitting next to Howard for years so if she got upset, it would only be related to how much Howard dislikes O&A.
I got the same thing. Said I just needed to contact this guy in Nigeria, give him the cc number info and my account would be credited. I was pleasantly surprised and called the gentleman right away. Sounded very nice....no African accent at all.
When I called to cancel they asked why I was doing it, I politely told them why. They offered no explanation, and made ZERO effort to keep my business. They only asked if I wanted an immediate cancellation or to be canceled at the end of the month. I told them to shut it off immediately.
I don't believe a goddamn word they say until Anthony is back on the air. Frankly, I can't imagine that happening.
Ive been following this yesterday and today through tweetdeck and the @siriusxm column was cycling very fast all day with people saying they had cancelled a lot of them with more than one account and this was with retweets turned off aswell.
Even if only 10% of these were genuine its still thousands of cancellations in one day, it did seem to slow down a bit today but i still needed to pause the realtime stream to be able to read the top tweet as by the time id read the second word two more came in to knock it down the list.
I's say for every 200 cancellation tweets there was 1 person congratulating them on firing ant with no indication that that person was an actual customer.
I know this isn't really a very accurate way to even estimate how many cancellations there are but i thought i might just post what i have seen over these last 2 days.
Id assume these investors/shareholders have social media people who keep an eye on these things and have been given some unsettling stats gleamed from the @mentions alone and have started to ask questions SXM management were hoping they wouldn't have to answer.
It seems like a lot of people are being told this. Let's state the obvious here: They're full of shit. For Sirius to rehire Ant, a lot of people at the top would have to look bad. People are the top don't want to look bad. The best thing to do is still to cancel any and all subscriptions, and give them a reason to rehire Ant, that isn't their own incompetence.
Cancel. IF they put him back then resub. You might even save money in the process if you tell them you are a returning customer.(six months half off) Nothing makes corporate dick harder than a returning customer.
The guy I spoke to asked why. I said it was because Ant was fired. He tried telling me I can listen to other alternatives like Stern. I cut him off and told him just to cancel it

Either trying to desperately cover their ass, or desperately trick people to not canceling.
Either way they still suck. Don't resubscribe, pirate their shit from now on.

It would piss investors off, they would see it as hurting the brand. I don't think it's true.

Either way, investors are going to be extremely pissed on Monday. I'm kind of excited to check the stock price.

If you check it and there is anything interesting on Monday or Tuesday make a post.

Wouldn't investors be more pissed if a large amount of subscribers left?

I listen to a lot of channels, but O&A is the only one I can't replicate for free using Pandora/Spotify/etc.
