Where do we go from here?

Someone please explain why the boys can't create a web-based, subscription driven show? I'd gladly pay $10/month for a 4 hour show with a visual element, with access to previous shows on demand.

They have the start-up capital to get something like this off the ground and certainly have a rabid fan base to support this venture.

Don't Sirius/XM own most if not all of their past content?

Stuff like this can be negotiated. Sirius could hold them to their contracts, make Ant sit out and Opie do the show on his own until October, just letting the whole thing wither....or we could cancel the show now, let you out of your contract, but O&A get rights to old material.

I'm sure SiriusXM would love to negotiate with O & A, they seem like a reasonable company.

Yeah and since they've always been true to their word and prompt to fulfill onligations, I'm sure the boys totally want to work with them some more after this.

Sirius saves hundreds of thousands, maybe more, by shutting down the entire show months early. O&A get tapes that are worthless to Sirius in their business model. Honestly, would Sirius even want to give their past shows an airing now that this has happened?

depending on their contract, they might own the rights to the old material

The problem is precedent has been set with podcasts. The majority of the top podcasts are free, so while people here might pay, a lot of potential listeners wouldn't.

If the boys were to do podcasting, they would have to do it for the love of broadcasting over money. They can make good money selling ads on a free podcast but they won't make Sirius XM contract money.

They aren't making SXM contract money anymore anyway.

Because the vast majority of listeners won't pay for it. They'll get it for free wherever it can be gotten.

i get the torrent thing, resorted to that when my job changed and couldn't listen live. But you cant tell me there isn't enough support out there, that want to listen/watch live each day.

Add to that if they can find some sponsors who aren't pussies, thats all icing on the cake.

Only drawback is probably the staff would have to be drastically cut back (sorry SLABBO!).

Slobbo = Erock

Blobbo = Roland

Slabbo = ?
