There won't be an Opie and Jim show.

Sirius XM isn't stupid (well...). They would not broadcast a show (containing Anthony's name, as others have pointed out) that consists of two people that are furious at management and have very little to lose.

Op and Jim would bitch about the situation constantly (think about how much bitching we've heard about stupid shit like audio equipment over the years). Also, they could NOT take phone calls.

Essentially there would be a fuck Sirius XM channel on the SXM platform. That's a tougher pill to swallow than eating 3-4 months of salary for three radio guys.

I think you're right and I said similar on one of the other threads. The most likely scenario is that Sirius parks the show until Opie and Jimmy's contracts are up in the fall. I honestly think this is it.

Do you think they'll make an O&A podcast? I can't see them putting in the effort. A podcast is an absolute grind.

To be honest, I don't think O&A would be good in a weekly broadcast format anyway. If we only got one of their SXM shows a week, I'd probably never listen because I can name five or ten comedy/talk format podcasts that are significantly stronger.

The radio show was incredible because of the sheer amount of material they put out.

Since it looks like I need something new to listen to, could you share which podcasts you enjoy please?

No doubt.

  • Talkin' Shit with Jim and Eddie. Hosted by Jim Jefferies, his comic roommate Eddie Ifft and their dumb friend who they constantly shit on way worse than E-Rock gets it. That link is good for some early episodes, and a quick google search gives you later ones. Jefferies stopped doing it at some point because he had a kid and landed an FX show.

  • Norm MacDonald Live (video podcast). Hosted by Norm MacDonald and a younger guy who's managed comedy clubs and plays the "dopy sidekick" really well. Guest on every episode, usually a big name, usually a comedian. This is my favorite podcast by a mile, but Norm's sense of humor doesn't click with everyone.

  • Race Wars. Hosted by Kurt Metzger (writes for Schumer and Jim's shows, hilarious comic) and Sherrod Small. Basically black guy, white guy and usually white guy's girlfriend discuss sex/race issues in the media. Sounds serious but it's generally not and it's always really fucking funny. Metzger really shines because he gets to be himself as the lead as opposed to third or fourth mic on O&A or someone else's podcast.

  • Those are my three go-tos, but Mohr Stories (Jay Mohr), My Wife Hates Me (Rich Vos and Bonnie Mcfarlane), Joe Rogan Experience, Monday Morning Podcast (Bill Burr), and a lot of others are good too.

Many thanks!

Also:

  • You Know What Dude (aka "YKWD") hosted by Robert Kelley, with regulars Dan Soder, Joe List, and Luis J. Gomez. Frequently has NYC comics on.

  • Legion of Skanks hosted by Big Jay Oakerson, Dave Smith, and Luis J Gomez.

I've never really felt an OnA podcast would work personally...even just logistically. A radio show has a vastly different feel to it than a podcast...hard to describe though. Maybe separately they might do their own thing and have some kind of crossover...but not collectively.

Spot on, that's exactly what I think will happen.

I agree. The Opie and Anthony channel is now the FUCK SIRIUS channel. Drastic changes are ensuing.

Let's get some production done. Pew pew.

I think your right. It will be a couple days of best ofs and then the channel goes away. maybe filled by another edgy talk show. But who knows or cares at that point.

They are going to change the name of the channel to Howard 105 just to send Opie into a suicidal rage.

I doubt I would listen to a O&J show more than a couple times. I hope Ant does more from the compound shows, or podcasting.

Listening to Opie cry about his studio conditions or pimp shitty photography is really not my kind of entertainment.

Unfortunately NO ONE is going to put Anthony Cumia in a satellite, terrestrial or television gig. I doubt he'll even be back on Fox News unless it's specifically to discuss the events.

Yeah I can't see any way that would happen, he's on his own from here on out. I still think he can make it work via podcast or some type of streaming.

That or walk away completely, enjoy his toys, put this shit in the rearview mirror and rip it off the windshield.

GRIM in the morning?

The Opie Show, coming this week!

I'm gonna call it now.. "Opie Radio" coming Monday! Ties in with his youtube, twitter, and instagram and will help raise those "numbers!"

That it!

All of you are wrong! Wrong! It's gonna be the "Uncle Paul Show" starring that wonderful boy Jimmy. He's a saint, ya know?

SiriusXM wouldn't care. They'd let everyone vent for 3 months and, in the meantime, work on putting together the new channel that debuts in October.
