Is there any realistic chance that O and J will walk off the show on the air next week?

Because that would be the way to go out.

And before they do it they can make clear that they don't necessarily agree with ant's words or his feelings in general.....it's just a principled stand about both speech being censored and the show as we know it ceasing.

Opie and Jim come in fuming. They tell Sam, Erock, and the rest of the staff to walk out, while they first resist, eventually everyone complies. The air falls silent for several minutes after the sound of the door slamming rings out into space. Then, suddenly, a slow creeping din of squeaky wing-tipped shoes with a short gait slowly builds across the mic, first sounding almost like static, until they can clearly be made out as footsteps. Suddenly, they stop and the sound of shuffling miscellaneous items on a desk can be heard before the quiet scrape of a mic boom being lowered. The mystery guest clears his throat; open mouthed, and then speaks

"Thish ish Rich Vosh, I'll be at Yakov's Comedy Club July 10th shthrough the 12th."

I thought you were going to go into one of Jim's Soprano's finale fantasies....in which Jim and Opie ask for a press conference and the media gathers and Jim and Opie walk out and passionately kiss.....leaving everyone everywhere speechless.

Opie, like a caterpillar shedding his cocoon to reveal a majestic butterfly, rips his shirt to reveal a 6-pack and 24-inch pythons, as well as the top of a mad V. Suddenly, he grows a long, flowing head of BrothermanTM hair and begins suplexing SXM management live on television. Jim seizes the opportunity to mount Kenny, who has been outfitted with a large saddle and tank guns loaned from Anthony, and opens fire on the building itself. As the National Guard arrives at the scene, a beating noise can be heard from above, where none other than Dennis "The Scorched Earth Menace" Falcone is leading a squadron of stolen Bell AH-1 Cobra attack helicopters to airlift the b-b-b-b-boys out to the safety of the Compound, where a hidden fallout shelter equipped with self-sustainable resources and broadcasting equipment has been unearthed.

Fucking best thing I ever read lmfao

If you gilded my comment, sir, you are a sad, sad, sad (but respectable) man.

It was worth the 4 bucks haha

long way to go.

Where do I buy your novels?

Believe it or not, there's pipe dreams, man.

I predict they come in Mon, say a few things then walk off...to dead air

I predict that Jim Norton will plug a few of his shows before they walk off.

If we don't get a "your mom's box" from anyone, I'll be steeped in disappointment.

at the very least, they need to isolate an old clip of Ant saying it....and act like it is live.

Opie should preface it by saying...."are you sure you want to say something??? ok, go ahead....."

Jim will leave, or appear very rarely. Opie sticks it out as 2nd mic on The Sam Roberts show.

The Sam Roberts show couldn't draw flies for an audience...even if you dipped it in a three day-old used tampon.

Yuck

What's stopping Ant from calling his favorite radio program and voicing his opinions about the situation?

probably a contractual order of some kind that makes it clear they don't have to pay him if he makes any appearances on their or anyone else's air between now and end of contract.

that's how lawyers word their contracts.

Personal tweets would probably not be covered, but compound broadcasts probably are.

I'm sure he can podcast, but not go on a competing show and still get paid. I mean, I'm sure he's pissed, and I'm sure people want a compound show, but is that really the best idea right now? Ant has money, but it's not like he has Stern money.

They can probably give him a little somethin' somethin' to shut the fuck up and go away for a few years. That'd destroy everything. If I were cunty SiriusXM that's what I would do. Divide and conquer.

They come in and Opie jerks off with Mars about the sound levels for 30min or so. They bitch about the new studio never coming. Opie tells a great Philly Crew vacation story that is at least 70% fabrication. Opie brings Roland in to discuss his pandering tshirt of the day, that's an hour at least. They discuss a viral video and reset the apology clock for someone. During PC talk they make veiled references to Anthony but toss it aside as "Things that are happening they can't talk about".

I hope they stay on air and just ceaselessly shit on Sirius/XM until they get canned. That would be beautiful.

I think if Ant said somthing on air and got fired they would walk. But this is different.

Jim's being living paycheck to paycheck for 20 years, spending all his money on prostitutes because he stopped drinking.

He needs the work.

They've got to,

I wasn't thinking that before, but the more you think about it, the more it makes sense. The show is the opie and Anthony show. Jim counts too, but the point is that it's them.....not any one or two of them. opie is smart enough to know that he can't deal with a long term O and J show, even if someone like dan soder was brought in.

Opie also has to know that the key to the show all these years was having comedians hang out....not movie stars. They can do a similar show from the compound. And they'd still be able to draw guests that are friendly with them like penn Jillette.

And if the show was done from the compound, you can add a Skype element to get guests from out of town.

Yeah bc the show probably won't get picked up again anyway

maybe not, but i wouldnt be surprised if sirius/xm offers O and J a big raise to try to get them to stay, considering they wont have to pay Ant.

Not unless SXM is letting them do a "last show," which as they've made clear over the years doesn't happen. If SXM wants Opie and Jim on the air, they're going to do the show for the duration of their contracts because of the money at stake.

My prediction is we've heard the last of Opie on satellite.

I dont know about their contracts of course, but I think quitting would void the contract, and prevent them from being paid. I think Ant and co. Will be paid regardless, but quitting nullifies any obligation on xm's part.

No chance what so evah! I predict they will do nothing of substance.

actually his condo costs so much more than a big sized suburban house, that just by selling the condo, he will be in great financial shape

No. No chance.

Do you have inside knowledge? If they don't show up to work, I'm sure they don't get paid, but can they be sued?

I just think they both have limits on how much they're prepared to sacrifice for someone who destroyed the show because he couldn't keep his fool mouth shut.

That makes some sense, but he was what made the show the show. Opie has spoken way too much about the freedom of podcasting to not seriously consider it now that Anthony has no choice.

You're assuming he still wants to work with Ant and not, say, on his own.

I wouldn't be so quick to make that assumption, myself.

Well, Opie has to realize that his only market value in show business is as a host of this kind of show.....in other words, as a point guard that passes the ball to others.

He can't do viral videos....unless they were done in the context of something supplementary to a podcast or radio show.

He isn't likeable or political enough for people to ever rally behind. He should run an entire podcasting network and have an O and A show as part of it.
