He just doesn't fit in with O&A honestly, the guy isn't a bad comic by no means.

yah I agree hes really more of a guy who tells these wandering stories with subtle jokes throughout and a strong end, but getting to the end can be treacherous if your not into what hes doing. OandA is really all about as fast as you can improvisation in a context of telling joke after joke. When Birbiglia would come on he wouldn't change his game and still attempted his long form story telling while most in studio were to bored to listen intently for his subtle jokes or to impatient to wait long enough for the pay off at the end.

Isn't that basically what Breuer does? He comes in and tells stories from his act.

Agreed, and if you asked him about it in an interview, I'm sure he'd be upfront about it. I've heard him on several podcasts and he definitely is self deprecating and honest about his career and personality. I'd love to see him live, but I wouldn't expect a machine gunning of laughter, like a Bill Burr type would be getting.

I was at the virus tour show at the PNC when he got booed off stage, that was fucking brutal. Really I think he's funny but they put him in a terrible spot, right after the intermission when everyone was waiting for the "headline acts"

In his defense there were virus tours in which Patrice and regular friends of the show were booed and yelled at too.

If it's the one with the sports award show story then This is one of my favorite shows but I don't think he bombed that bad.He actually stood up to nick a bunch of times and as much as I love nick its fun to see him get knocked down, it rarely happens.

Yeah idk if he bombed but he was doing written material and telling some pretty bland stories.

Yeah I guess those sucked but otherwise he surprised me listening to him interact with the boys.I used to hate him because his whole vibe seemed forced to me, but then I listened to him as a guest and he actually can be "mean funny" and pretty good generally speaking.

Poor Mike.

i liked him when JBL and Vos were in and they were just ripping each other part. Was pretty surprised at much he took shots at JBL too.

JBL?

Or just read this..

I love Birbig's he's just a different comic and doesn't mesh well with those guys.

Bombs? Really? I didn't hear that. He does NPR bits so he's not a perfect fit for the show, but did you hear that Bill Burr impression? I was dying! I like Mike but he just tries too hard when he's on O&A.

They should have in Ira Glass and Pat Cooper - see how that goes.
