Florentine rules

15 minutes into today's show, already laughing my ass off. Besides Burr & Ant talking about old workplace stories, there's nothing I love better than old road stories from Norton & Florentine. I detest sports, but Florentine is the only guy I can listen to talk about sports for a long time, esp when the callers call & start fucking with him. It's funny & I don't even know who they're talking about.
He's a super nice guy too if you ever meet him, I never miss him in LA because I know he'll get a lot of groans & then tell the audience "Oh, fuck you..."

I met Florentine after his recent Buffalo show and I agree, really cool nice guy. I think he's actually almost the opposite of his psuedo-masculine tough guy persona in real life.

He had a strong show today, I don't care much for his act but his road stories are awesome and hearing him talk about bombing had me cracking up.

Florentine is always funny, and entertaining.
If you go to Florentine for advice on sports, or anything it's you with the issues not him. He's funny though.

He did his "Im Your Savior" one man show out here a year or two ago, and it was FREE. Maybe like 50 people showed up, and he hung out with everyone after for like 45 minutes. Im such a nervous dope around my favorite comics, Im so bad at talking to them. He's a big dude too, he looks like a football player and shit.
He's got so many good stories. He is a funny bastard.

I saw him a couple years ago at a club in Boston, and he eviscerated a heckler. This dude and his idiot friend kept loudly clinking beer bottles together in the middle of his jokes and was annoying everyone. It was bruuutal when Florentine tore into him; it was so awesome.

Do you remember some of the lines he threw?

Since you don't watch sports, I'll fill you in and let you know that Florentine has no fucking idea what he's talking about.
But he's funny and I enjoy him.

Tend to agree with this. I enjoy him, but often find myself disagreeing when it comes to his takes on sports.

I almost understand Florentine's "too old for candy" stance, but saying the same thing about ketchup is ridiculous. Yeah, who likes ketchup on fries?
8 klitchell 2014-06-26
yeah fuck ketchup!

Too old for Ketchup but not too old for a band designed for 13 year olds

Yeah, he gets a little silly about some of that. But I love when he talks about cakes or dessert, "No, I don't need that, I'm not 11 anymore..." And then Jimmy gets him going: "You don't like desserts?" Ha ha

You can tell sometimes when he takes an unusual stance that's probably mostly true, and then tweaks a little bit harder to get a reaction. "You don't like Ketchup?! What about on fries?" "I don't eat fries, but if I did they'd be plain." He also says the phrase "Goodnight Facebook," makes him actively angry and he thinks about it frequently and it pisses him off, which is just part of the whole act. A little serious, but at the same time, just a joke. Jim isn't walking around muttering about ketchup and facebook posts. Just topics. (well maybe he is). Sorry for blowing up your spot Jim.

Even though most fans can't relate to dating and a social life, it's great to hear him talk about chasing girls and getting burned in relationships.

Ya ur rite... girls date themselves... men can't get laid

That's the bit!

I love that his stance on things being childish (soda, chocolate, ketchup) piss off the enormous, gluttonous man-children in this sub.

I don't like his cantankerous old man "I don't like the following things" persona, but he is funny as fuck when he's just shooting the shit or telling stories.

Florentine is great. Say what you will about his act, but I saw him a couple years ago and he slayed. I shook his hand after the show while he was trying to hawk his CD's.

Florentine Vos combo was so awesome. They should come in together more.

I concur

He's too similar to Norton (or vice versa) IMO but today he was good
1 boogersonsteve 2014-06-26
Florentine doesn't know shit about sports, just FYI. He's just a loud blowhard who hates fantasy football passionately for some reason.
1 CUNTYMOM 2014-06-26
this guy plays fantasy football, but he knows sports but he just has a lot of stupid opinions.
1 brandonrambo 2014-06-26
Florentine should have his own sports talk show. He is the best. His line about Ronaldo looking like he just got out of a nightclub in Miami Beach was great.
1 MartyVanB 2014-06-26
Florentine's story about the wrestling photos was the best radio I have ever heard. His "I worked for those photos" line had me "howling"

Florentine dated Robin Quivers.

Florentine is a heavy metal rain man.
"Ozzy was phenomenal. I got 550 shirts. Yeah, 550 shirts. Yeah. Yeah. Ozzy is phenomenal of course. Yeah. Bon Scott was a big blues guy. Yeah. Of course I know everything about music. Yeah. Phenominal."
I love when that blockhead tries to lecture them how the music industry works, he doesn't have a clue, he operates on conjecture, urban legend and fairy stories. He's that guy, who's read all the books on the shitty metal bands, so he thinks he knows how it works. And, he couldn't be more wrong a lot of the time. His schtick is he's got a good memory for trivia. Every club has one asshole like Florentine.
