Dan Soder super guest?
146 2014-06-17 by heytheretim
Dan Soder consistently kills on the show. His analogies and observations are spot on. Finally a guy to do impressions with Anthony. Plus he has the radio backround that Opie loves. I make the case for "Dan Soder Super Guest".

Soder is 10X more entertaining than anyone Roland has put on the show.
3 Ojisan1 2014-06-17
Just reminds me of the time when the show was all comics, musicians, and naked girls testing out the whiffle ball bat. No celebrity interviews and the show was great.
The boys keep saying they don't want to do too many celebrity interviews, and I'm sure they turn down more than a few, but it's still a big part of the current form of the show.

Love Dan Soder and hope they feature him more. I tune into O&A to laugh and escape...not hear Fox News-shilling political rants.
38 relics0 2014-06-17
dan's appearance is just reminder that a good comedian joining or sitting in for norden increases the entertainment value ten-fold
28 mintwaltman 2014-06-17
Not comparing them as stand-ups, but I think Soder shows are must listen - like Attell shows
4 numba13 2014-06-17
Soder is more entertaining. And before anyone says "Purple suit and giant coffin", go fuck yourself. Its been 3 years and I'm tired of that being the only reference to anything funny Attell's done on this show.
2 [deleted] 2014-06-17
I thought that joke was pretty easy. I have yet to understand why people find Atell so funny, yet he isn't so unfunny as to find irritating. IMO
1 racerx969 2014-06-17
Attell is great every appearance.

I love when Soder is on o&a and Ron and fez.....he always has something to talk about and his African voice killed me today
17 phyrexianlovepump 2014-06-17
the african accent was fucking spot on.
5 rumpumpumpum 2014-06-17
I want to hear him and Nairobi Jimmy riffing with each other.
1 dubsteez 2014-06-17
"I cannot eat if I see a little girl with a clit" I need more African Dan Soder!
22 Mottaman 2014-06-17
fuck that, he should be super 3rd mic. I'm so tired of Norton
5 Epithemus 2014-06-17
I like Norton and think hes really funny, but while Soder and Ant were riffing endlessly I couldn't help but think "I wonder if Jimmy would've ruined this with Chip or one of his go to angles."
8 Mottaman 2014-06-17
jimmy has funny standup, and funny moments sure... but i'm tired of him. His characters are no longer funny, his rants have gotten very repititious, he is just tiresome as 3rd mic. Yesterday Ant seemed to be having fun in a way that I havent heard in years. There was an energy that brought me back to the WNEW days
4 dontcallmejames 2014-06-17
i'm still a big fan of Jimmy, but you're right. I heard something different yesterday that I haven't heard in a long time. I always though Soder had good chemistry in there, but yesterday was one of the funniest shows I've heard since Patrice died.
2 Ojisan1 2014-06-17
I think having more comics in there more frequently would elevate Yimmy's game.
1 KnickedUp 2014-06-17
Jimmy doesnt care anymore. He is clearly trying to pivot off to something else at this point. He doesnt feel well compensated or respected at Sirius.

Soder is a much better guest than Voss
14 MaxKawalski 2014-06-17
Fuck y'all. Vaas for life.
8 sillypig69 2014-06-17
If it were just Ant Soder and Yimmy the show would be GOAT
1 KnickedUp 2014-06-17
but who would stop all the fun and explain-rape everything?
3 thoughtcrimeboss 2014-06-17
Thats like saying "Cake is better to eat than shit."
2 halareous 2014-06-17
Let's just agree to disagree on that.
1 drexler57346 2014-06-17
I could go for Vos being in too though. They need to have more comedians in period.
-9 Icculus1833 2014-06-17
Paris Hilton is a better guest than Vos. Funnier too.
11 ElPatreeecko 2014-06-17
But why have a funny comic on the show all the time when you've got Bob Kelley, Vos and the now unemployed Joe De Rosa?
9 GleepGlorpFloopdedoo 2014-06-17
I do miss Joey Roses.

1 SergeantFartbox 2014-06-17
What do you mean by "now unemployed"? Did a project of his fall apart or something?
8 GleepGlorpFloopdedoo 2014-06-17
I believe his show with Pete Holmes got canceled (I could be wrong).
3 mad-lab 2014-06-17
He was writing for the Pete Holmes show, which wasn't renewed; so he's out of a job when that show ends soon.
11 Rondog01 2014-06-17
When I first heard Dan Soder on the show, I hated him because of that annoying voice. But the dude is constantly funny and I finally had to give him his props.
If you listen to Bob Kelleys podcast, Soder is probably the funniest one there.
4 Threkin 2014-06-17
How can you hear what Dan is saying on Bawbys podcast? Everytime I try to listen there are 30 people all talking over each other
1 Rondog01 2014-06-17
Out of the guys I can hear. Dan is the funniest.
-3 JeremyF 2014-06-17
Joe List is funnier imo.
0 GeorgeAndPFunl 2014-06-17
Have to agree, I'll join you with a (-) sign in front of my karma.
11 arter1al 2014-06-17
Soder is the shit, he is my fave replacement mic/guest, i almost like him more than burr. I never really get tired of ant for some reason, jim get old sometimes.
10 DAC027 2014-06-17
I was trying not to crack up at work while listening to his African voice.
6 bert-rhodes 2014-06-17
I actually had to stop what I was doing when I heard his African voice. Amazing show today because of Soder.
3 thoughtcrimeboss 2014-06-17
The african voice killed!, havent laughed like that in a while
2 Wsallgood 2014-06-17
I was losing it at work to soder riffing on pitt bulls being "land alligators" who death roll on toddlers.
9 FrunkisOA 2014-06-17
When they were talking about the little girls face... I was expecting jimmy to say something serious about these assholes and blah blah blah then Soder comes in with the 6th death shake line. Fucking great
8 UncPa57yrzyng 2014-06-17
Soder feels like the 2nd coming of Jim Bruer on the show. His chemistry with Anthony today, going toe to toe with coming up with material AND impressions, the guy is awesome.
2 mrbildo 2014-06-17
Fucking spot on. Came here to compare his appearances to the energy of Bruer. And I say energy because that's what it is. He ramps up Ant and they play off each other like Bruer and Ant always did. Even Ant talks about how much he loves Soder coming in. Best comedian guest going right now.
1 nojoyinthepast 2014-06-17
Absolutely. It's what Jimmy should be doing: adding comedy and pushing Ope and Ant to do more and stay out of their usual routine.
8 Danielson799 2014-06-17
It helps he's gotta be 20 years younger than them.
8 davelaws 2014-06-17
Dan Soder made the apology bit funny. After that, I'm convinced his dulcet tones could cure cancer
7 Houghton91 2014-06-17
He's hilarious. Definitely a great guest. I wish they would get Big Jay on more.
7 ucfgavin 2014-06-17
Big Jay still seems to be more comfortable on Ron and Fez. Maybe its because hes just been on there more, I don't know.
0 KnickedUp 2014-06-17
They both seem more comfortable with Ron. I love Soder, but I feel like he is almost trying to "outjoke" Cumia while he is there. It is a little exhausting after a while... R&F is more of a stoner hang type vibe. That show breathes. Unfortunately, there is no room for a show to breathe with Opie and Sam on mic.
3 Tuvor77 2014-06-17
I think O&A is usually way too early for Big Jay to want to come in.
1 Houghton91 2014-06-17
Yeah, that's what i figured. Plus Ronnie B is the man.
6 Unshavenhelga 2014-06-17
He is an amazing guest. Best show in a while.
6 xoemoscrubxo 2014-06-17
Dan Soder and Luis J Gomez kill it on the YKWD podcast. Hopefully the two can make a joint appearance sometime.
2 dontcallmejames 2014-06-17
Gomez is so fucking obnoxious. he even annoys Bobby on every podcast. Soder and List rule though
6 MBartholomae1 2014-06-17
Soder was great. Those two breaks with the Pitbull/KFC girl and the Sorrentino reality show were two of the best breaks in a long time. I would love if he consistently filled in while Jimmy was out when he's around.
6 Hibidi-Shibidi 2014-06-17
YKWD has sucked dick since Soder and List left. I listen to Tuesdays with Stories and it's still not as good as YKWD was with both of them. I could seriously listen to Soder trash Louis (fuck the J) Gomez for hours.
6 shutyourgob 2014-06-17
He was hilarious but I wish there was some way I could mute Sam's microphone from my audio. I don't need to hear that voice trying to claw its way into every bit.
5 KnickedUp 2014-06-17
"If I just laugh really hard after every joke, everyone will know I'm here hanging with my guys"
4 NitratePrint 2014-06-17
Looks like Dan was on the post show too. Might have to actually listen.
4 ucfgavin 2014-06-17
Soder has been a good replacement I think for a lot of the established guys that have escalated their career and don't come around as frequently. Keep him coming!
3 phyrexianlovepump 2014-06-17
2nd'd
3 [deleted] 2014-06-17
I'm a new fan - he was hilarious today. I'd heard the name before, but never really heard him. He's like a low key Breuer!
2 Touch_Of_Red 2014-06-17
Go listen to the last time he was on and they spent an hour breaking down the Summer Is Great song.
3 thoughtcrimeboss 2014-06-17
very funny, I make sure to catch the show live when he is on

Dan Soder is the man. I heard him on Bobby Kelly's podcasts and have been a fan since.
2 account9211 2014-06-17
Soder is powerful enough to overcome opie trying to steer the ship into the rocks despite being able to see the lighthouse from miles out.
2 -Strummer- 2014-06-17
He's gonna be fucking huge one day..
2 ig0tworms 2014-06-17
Today was a little exhausting to listen to. Like a fuckin hummingbird of voices. Between him and Ant with the impressions... god damn. Good show overall. His African voice was really good.
2 FresnoJefferson 2014-06-17
Soder was really damn good, but w/o Opie there to steer the ship into those bits and impressions then none of it wouldn't have happened. Thus, he wouldn't have been that great w/o the Opster.

1 heytheretim 2014-06-17
yeahhhh i heard some tippy in there. long live tippy tom!
1 Hard_Fiskur 2014-06-17
Dan Soder = Tippy Tom ? Oh myyyy....
1 Houghton91 2014-06-17
IT'S A QUAN-SPIRACY...
2 [deleted] 2014-06-17
Dan Soder is the best guest they have right now outside of maybe Vos since Vos getting trashed is always classic.
2 Hard_Fiskur 2014-06-17
O&A bring out the best in Soder. He is radio gold!
2 i_saw_nothing 2014-06-17
I came to the conclusion that maybe, just maybe, "the show has passed me by" and decided to listen to a music channel yesterday morning, when I noticed the O&A favorites icon said "Dan Soder". Immediately turned it on during the dog attack discussion.
He absolutely killed, as usual, and the one thing I took away from it is realizing that I haven't heard Anthony laughing that hard or having that much fun with their temporary third mic since Patrice. And it was a real laugh, not his forced "fucked chicken" laugh. You know the one, "caaaaaw caw caw caw caw. Oh, yimmy!"
I was just disappointed that he didn't do Ron & Fez later in the day, like he often does after O&A.
1 mjgialanella 2014-06-17
I usually delete shows after I listen to them. I keep anything with Soder. I saved a best of of Ron & Fez with Soder on it. Today's O&A episode will be saved, as well. I like how he doesn't really get in to politics like Ant and Burr do when are together. I'm sure if Burr was in there today he would have defended the whole pit bull thing in some way. It probably would have been great, but damn that shit was HILARIOUS today. Soder kills me. He's up there with Louie, Patrice, and Atell for me as a guest. I hope he's back in tomorrow.
2 NitratePrint 2014-06-17
Good point about politics. It can be a quick way to kill comedy, either from soapboxing some ridiculous position or triggering tired rants (or both).
1 KnickedUp 2014-06-17
Yep, when these comedians think that we want to hear them talk seriously about politics....its like, "get over yourself." I'm talking to you Yimmy Nordon!
1 CryptoZappa 2014-06-17
oh hell yeah!
1 occult91 2014-06-17
dan soder golden ticket
1 sukotsuto 2014-06-17
Dan Soder has great radio comedy chemistry with Ant - I feel they would make legendary bits with both of them in the same room.
1 txzen 2014-06-17
Ant and Dan riffing back and forth with impressions was impossible to turn off it was so good.
And they kept coming up with great ideas like instead of apologizing big companies should blame the people demanding apologies.
It made me feel funny about Jimmy not being there, now I have to see how Jimmy and Dan go together. BUt ant was on fire and dan fanned the flames.
-7 WoopEmGangbangStyle 2014-06-17
I don't like him at all.
1 mjgialanella 2014-06-17
I disagree, but up vote for your honesty.
-10 jewy_kikeburger 2014-06-17
I've not heard much of him but I find him quite good, I really don't get the reverence he attracts from this subreddit though.
-20 spinuch 2014-06-17
I'd agree but he's too nice. A conventional O&A super guest would be a complete asshole. That's why vos always kills. Dan is too much of a yes man. They do like him enough to have him on for 2 hours though. That's the most time a comedian has stayed in a long time i think.
9 FancyAndImportantMan 2014-06-17
Soder's a different type of asshole. He's one of those types who believes in offending everyone, there are no limits/consequences to free speech, etc. That said, I don't know if he's the type of asshole who can hold his own in a Vos/Bawby/CQ thrashing marathon.
3 GleepGlorpFloopdedoo 2014-06-17
He does pretty well on YKWD, though.
6 xBrianSmithx 2014-06-17

4 FancyAndImportantMan 2014-06-17
I agree with your agreement that he is too agreeable.
1 txzen 2014-06-17
I think your point about agreeableness could have some merit. He was hilarious because he was agreeing with a very funny Anthony Cumia. That may have made his seem better. But he was going with the flow and adding in good impressions and great lines.
4 Clown_Shoe 2014-06-17
