So I was told not to share to social media, but considering the guest tweeted a picture of himself with Jim with the hashtag #jimnortonshow I figure fuck it.
The guest was Dana White and Mike Tyson, Bailey Jay (that loveable trap) was the co-host. The show included a warm up with Jim, brief discussion with Jay (very short segment) and then into the interview with Mike and Dana.
Overall the show was fun. Jim seemed very nervous but eased into it. You can tell he's not 100% sure how to be a "talkshow host" without sounding like a smarmy fuckbag yet. He was self depricating which worked well at times, but other times made the audience a little uncomfortable. I think as time goes on he'll find his stride in terms of balancing his usual stand-up conversational side and his new duties as a host.
There were a few blips and weird moments that had to do with production (knocking over a plant, intros and outros had to be recorded later and needed a few takes to make work, Bailey Jay wasn't sure whether to be in a scene or not) but overall it was a smooth experience. They don't have the big applause sign like you see in movies, but they do have a woman in the bag who gets claps started at key moments to help guide the crowd.
I'd say the show has a really good future ahead of it, especially if they can continue to get interesting guests.

I just don't think the world needs another interview show. What's going to make this a must watch? Jim lecturing people, or kissing their asses? He's not a good interviewer. He just isn't. And, will it constantly be people he's ALREADY talked to on the O&A show?

Not to my knowledge but what's even worse with TV Jimmy is that forced, creepy, way too big/fake smile thing that he does after a joke. The guy is brilliant on the radio but his nervous twitches make it tough not to cringe at his TV shit.

The self deprecation aspect of Jimmy's humor is unfortunately why I'm skeptical that he'll work as a talk show host. In that format it doesn't work to have yourself be the punchline of the majority of the jokes.

Nah I know the 1:30 guest today was Dave Attell but no mention of tomorrow's guest. Honestly they said today's weird hours were simply because of Mike Tyson's schedule. The rest of the guests are probably comedians if I had to guess.
I think some people at the very end were turned away who didn't have tickets but a lot of people were asked to stay for the second show since they weren't 100% sure of turnout. Overall they seemed more concerned with getting a full house for jimmy rather than worrying about ticket bullshit. Just get there early and see what happens.

Yeah I sorta felt the same way but let me defend jim for sec: he def made fun of Dana and Mike a few times and he took this piss out of himself a bunch. There was some really funny content throughout given the fact that tyson is a very difficult guest (I mean dana white was basically his caretaker in that context...pushing tyson for jokes and helping smooth out the awkward patches when mike would get quiet or stop making total sense)
I love mike, he's a good guy...but hes a tough guest because he gets so nervous and has trouble staying on topic or coherently answering questions due to his nerves

-Sketch clip starring Gilbert Gottfried and Jim, along with an amazing alternate ending (which will probably be the aired ending).
-"man on the street" bit with Rich Vos and Sherrod Small
-Rich and Sherrod interviewed together
-Dave Attell brought out and interviewed with Rich and Sherrod still there.
-'Boyhood' director 'Richard Linklater' was supposed to be a guest, but cancelled at the last minute.
There were some hiccups but Jim played off it all well. There was lots of self-deprecation but it worked very well (not uncomfortable at all). They were doing some crowd work picking a lot on the front row, including myself. There was a lot of great 'riffing' in-between the interview and the promos, I really hope they keep that stuff in.
I went there with low expectations since people say Jim isn't as funny off the show, and how his on-air shtick can get repetitive at times, but it was really, really good.
That's not just in movies, they actually have those in shows like 'Late night'/'Tonight Show'/'SNL'
