Do you think Ant or Jim will ever flip the fuck out at the Opster and tell him he sucks?
1 2014-06-16 by [deleted]
I was listening to the segment they did on The Room.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uZwFqvcO3MI
It was a fun segment in the middle of which Opie started shouting at somebody outside the studio "Who you?!? Who you?!?" and you could tell Jim was pissed with his show stopping bullshit (12:17 if you give a fuck). He was holding in a big shut the fuck up.
Someday one of them is going to say hey Opie, why don't you stand in the corner with your face to the wall for the rest of the show, cunt face?

It will not happen while they are still working together. The closest was the grape argument when Opie said their working relationship had run its course and it was time to go their separate ways and Ant said "You're gonna go back to spinning records?" OH SNAP!

Opie debate style is like a middle schooler.
3 SergeantFartbox 2014-06-16
So you're telling me that making fun of someone, and then saying "Oh, now you're gonna make fun of me?" when they turn on you Is a bad tactic?

As much as Opie sucks, he could easily tear into Ant's legit creepy teenage girl stuff in a serious way that Ant couldn't just laugh off or pretend is a joke like he usually does. Knowing he buys things for literally 14 year old girls made me like the show less.
0 [deleted] 2014-06-16
They're not 14 you dummy, that's an exaggeration. Trust me, Ant doesn't fuck 14 year old girls.
6 captainpissclams 2014-06-16
I didn't say he fucks them you champion of comprehension, he buys things for/tweets with them. He's a creep, legit.
2 BottleOfAon 2014-06-16
Where did you hear that? Did they mention it on the show?
2 slendermon 2014-06-16
I'm pretty sure he got Catfished on Twitter by a guy he thought was a 14 year old girl. I think he bought him an iPad or something.

I don't think it would happen. They both know this show is what puts the money in their pockets. They rarely bust on Opie, and are careful not to be too harsh with him. Even if they decide to quit doing the show, they respect Opie for his part in getting all those dollars in their bank accounts, and they aren't going to nuke him on the way out.

This. I agree that anthony is extremely talented, but it was opie who really gave him his big break. Some could argue that he would have found his way, but big breaks are hard to come by in showbusiness. The same with Jimmy, it was revealed on the unmasked that Opie was the one who kept inviting Jimmy back and told him he would eventually get him paid. Maybe Jimmy would have gotten a bigger career without the show, I'm not too familiar with his career pre-OnA, but being on the show(when it was huge back during the WNEW days) gave him a huge platform and I'm assuming really helped his career. For all his faults, Opie is a pretty good recognizer of talent in those two cases.
9 mancubuss 2014-06-16
No one is familiar with his career pre o and a
6 regis69 2014-06-16
I feel like either one of them would've made it eventually. Opie hosted an overnight show on Long Island. Ant was the reason people actually started listening and the show grew and went to bigger markets. Opie did get Ant into the business, but Ant was Opie's ticket to success. It was Dice that gave Jim his big break. If he hadn't brought him to O&A he likely would've brought him to Stern eventually. Florentine, who was Jim's roommate at the time, did end up being a regular on Stern. O&A wasn't going to be Jim's only shot at making it.
11 DeryDerpette 2014-06-16
His behaviour probably annoys Anthony sometimes, but I don't think Jimmy dislikes him at all.
I think Opie and Jimmy are actually really similar in a lot of ways. If you removed Jimmy's sense of humour/comprehension of comedy, he'd be more like Opie than is immediately obvious.
11 BeerCanThick 2014-06-16
That is what the Chip character is.
5 regis69 2014-06-16
Really? You could see Jim having a good time with the Philly crew? Jim was most like Opie when he was a teenage poser in a Kangol hat.
9 JMueller2012 2014-06-16
"Leave it alone"
10 FresnoJefferson 2014-06-16
Opie saying that over and over was the most fucking annoying thing I've ever heard in the history of O&A.
4 Anton_Lemieux 2014-06-16
I know. It's funny to see him try and act like he's going to say anything that matters at all. You know he would be ripped the fuck apart verbally by Jim, Ant, Sam and even Roland is better at being angry.

He wrecked a bit on The Room to talk to some black woman employee and produce the most hack shit possible from Ant. Oh yeah, brotherman. Steer that ship.
7 zozozoz 2014-06-16
There was also the time Ant almost got to talk about Game of Thrones, the most popular show in HBO's history, but instead we got another dose of KidTalk2k14
4 jisip 2014-06-16
I actually don't mind Opie at all but goddamnit they were just getting into Game of Thrones discussion and Opie interrupted with "Guys...Guys...You know what I can't do?...Watch Game of Thrones with a kid."

I loved last week when Ant had to explain to Opie what feral cats are and why you can't have them in the house.
Ant: "Cats will fuck you up. Like feral cats. Try bringing one of those home..."
Opie: "What's the definition of 'feral'?"
A: "Wild."
O: "So it would get depressed in the house?"
A: "Well, after it fucked up your house and shit and pissed everywhere."
O: "Oh, because it needs to run?"
For christ's sake. It's like a child asking stupid questions. Ant explained that feral means wild. It would be like bringing a wild animal into your living room. The concern isn't that it needs space to run or it will get depressed. It's attacking you and shitting everywhere!

Seeing as this has turned into a Opie hate-fest/Opie's douche-iest moments I'd like to bring one to the table that I discovered this weekend while listening to an old YKWD Podcast. In the intro, Bawby has a bunch of comedians introducing themselves along the lines of , "I am John Smith and this is YKWD." Well, Opie's intro was, "I'm Opie from... well from a lot of thingsss."
No Op, you're from the Opie and Anthony Show. You're not acting in movies and television shows or hosting 3 different radio shows, you're not going up for an EGOT, you have a radio show and you did a season of a TBS game show. Just stop.
Just had to get that off my chest. Carry on, gentleman.

It wouldn't be a big deal if he had said "from the Opie and Anthony show and a few other things" or something along those lines, but to downplay the only significant thing you've done; the only thing that has given you notoriety is just being glib and comes off as pompous and self-aggrandizing.
I mean, what else do you expect Bob Kelly fans to know you from, a TBS prank/hidden cam show that lasted a season? XFL pre-game show? Rockstar video game voiceovers? Opie's Night Time Attitude? Brother Wease? his work as Spuds Buckley? SUNY Geneseo radio? Caddying? Which of these other "thingssss" is worth mentioning? ( I think I have most of his jobs down)
Not a single thing has provided OP with any additional recognition beyond the radio show. That's not a bad thing - He's on one of the most notorious and popular talk radio shows in history. But nothing was worth mentioning before O&A and nothing he has done since is the result of anything other than his being on O&A.
2 [deleted] 2014-06-16
What game show was he on? Was he the host?
1 AssholeinSpanish 2014-06-16
He was on some TBS Prank/Hidden Camera show for a season. I forget the name and its honestly not worth looking up.
8 Soultp 2014-06-16
Jimmy ruins bits too. I was just listening to where Opie and Sam bet TVs and had to turn it off because I got sick of Jimmy saying Sam had OCD because he was frugal. He kept trying to relate it to Sam's childhood instead of going with the flow and laughing at Sam. At least Ant is usually funny.
4 MBartholomae1 2014-06-16
Jimmy's great but will ruin whole shows if there is a situation with a celebrity photo. Look at the Metallica show to see how the entire show was focused on him getting that stupid picture while Florentine and I forget who else was in
6 BeerCanThick 2014-06-16
If it ever happens, it will be glorious.
6 BRUTAL_ANAL_RAPE8888 2014-06-16
Oh god I hope so. When opie starts complaining that his building wont let him hang up stupid fuck kid drawings on their door or leave dirty shoes in the hallway or when he said he let his kid run around first class I feel like ant is on the verge of exploding and meticulously explaining how fucking dumb he is
4 fuckpig 2014-06-16
I don't know if you know this, because I've never heard anyone say it hundreds of times before, but Opie keeps the show moving, you see. He is the ship's captain, if you will. Imagine a ship and Opie is the guy steering it. The crew would never disrespect the captain of the goodship O&A.
4 FresnoJefferson 2014-06-16
so you're saying the show is like a ship and Opie is at the steering wheel?
3 [deleted] 2014-06-16
HOLD ON HOLD ON HOLD ON
To tell you the truth, I'm gonna be brutally honest with ya. I NEED to take everyone inside the bit for a second here, so here's how it works. You're making a point now and you're saying that I am the captain of the ship, and that people can't say SHIT about me cos I'm steering this boat. He he, very good.
6 FresnoJefferson 2014-06-16
So you're saying a ship needs a captain, and Opie is like the captain of the show. So if you don't have a captain then the ship can't be steered, thus the ship can't go anywhere if there's no captain?????
3 [deleted] 2014-06-16
I've been trying to explain that to these fuuuuccckkinngggg DUMMIIIIIIES for a while now, DAMN IT. It's unbelievable...these idiots. Why won't they learn?

You are not a bright person and the definition of troll. Back up the video to 12:11.
Jimmy was the first person to say "Who's that Lady?"
0 BottleOfAon 2014-06-16
You're not a bright person and you also fuck your dad. See, anyone can claim stuff on the internet. Makes you look kind of silly though.
2 xBrianSmithx 2014-06-16
Sure. However, I have backed up my claim using the clip you linked.
Your entire post was based on the point that Opie interrupted the flow of the conversation by pointing out the woman in the hallway. Since, it was in fact Jim who did this and not Opie you should feel diminished in the head.
You - "Here everyone listen to Opie being a untalented douche at 12:17"
Me - "Go to 12:11 and be stunned that it was actually Jim. OP is the biggest bundle of sticks I have ever seen post here."
0 BottleOfAon 2014-06-16
Ok if you're going to make me reply for real. 1, they point at people outside the studio all the time, but this time Opie decided to pull the breaks and call her in over the course of about a minute, THEN 2) kept her in there talking inane bullshit for ages. It's in no way similar to the other occasions (as well as Jimmy's comment) when they mention people passing the studio and the difference was Opie's fucking show stopping bullshit of pursuing a dead end for 5 minutes mid segment. If you don't see the difference you can fuck off because it's pretty obvious.
2 xBrianSmithx 2014-06-16
You are blinded by your Opie hate. It is making you weak.
3 hey-its-that-guy 2014-06-16
Why don't we just go back to hating on Roland
2 NoirMagieGateau 2014-06-16
I think they will go their separate ways and get catty and talk shit after the show ends.
2 cooper367 2014-06-16
Opie and Jim got into an argument a couple years ago. I think it was about the way Opie treated one of Jimmy's comedian friends(obviously not part of the Philly crew) and Jimmy was calling him out on his bullshit. He didn't come out and say that the Opster sucked. That's the last argument I "a rememba a reminda"
2 FresnoJefferson 2014-06-16
Opie doesn't understand the concept of a Homeowner's Association.

2 FresnoJefferson 2014-06-16
Don't know if anyone else noticed this, but I've noticed Opie has been a lot "slower" on-air due to having kids in the last 4 years which is a cause for his lack of sleep, increased stress and lack of overall performance. He doesn't have that upbeat on-air vocal tone and doesn't hide his speech impediment as much today like he did pre-2009.
