Sam Roberts is going to be on the air alot more.

So O and A are using vacation days to do long weekends. This is not something that bothers me like it does some people. Sam has been doing solid radio for a long time. And now he gets a Friday show. I like his show. I really think that O and A may finally end or do something else in October, and Sam is getting ready for a daily show somewhere on the platform. I could be totally wrong and I'm sure someone will call me an idiot, but that's just the vibe I get. Either that or Sam takes over Fridays and O and A cut Fridays in their new contract. Who knows. I know there was a thread pretty similar to this earlier, but just posting some thoughts.

Our Lord and Savior Dennis Falcone will deliver us from the mongrel menace.

Sam slowly grew on me. Went from being glorified intern to someone who can play a decent straight man, good a setting other people up, doesn't get greedy, and his one-liners are getting better. He's not usually funny himself, but has a good sense of humor.
And he's the only mic with relevant pop culture knowledge.

I think his humor is in the straight man act. Not to parrot what you said, but he can set up a line and play off of it. And I also think he's going to be a bigger force because of his pop culture knowledge, and because his on air character is very PC. Even though it's an on air persona, Sam has played the PC angle in a humorous way like a champ. I see him taking a Ron Bennington mixed with his dickhead sarcasm. And Sirius wants that angle. I would kill to have Special Delivery come back, but I know an East Side Dave return isn't gonna happen.

Sam isn't bad at radio (though everyone hates his nasally voice), but his recent success is mostly thanks to DJ Whoo Kid.

Although Sam now has taken the straight man position with as you put it "dickhead sarcasm" it's nothing compared to the role he played on the Than and Sam show, Although unrefined at the time his ability to be incredibly snide was great and I am sure is still within him and if he had a daily show that he could settle into it would come out more over time.

I like the comparison to Ron. Sam is an expect shit stirrer and can set up people pretty nice. Him and the black have great chemistry on air. He's not funny but he can balance someone who is really well.
Even him and Opie seem to work well too. I don't know if anyone listened to the hurricane sandy afternoon shows but I sort of enjoyed them together. Opie hosting the show with him would be interesting.

He's an excellent "straw man" augment delivery mechanism for the show.

You better apologize for that

Unless he's doing a 100% faithful reenactment of the R. Budd Dwyer incident, I'm not listening.

Right about now...

I find he's a lot more listenable without O&A.
He and Jimmy have a good rapport, he's good with guests too.
I think he's a lot meaner, less funny and a lot more face punchingly annoying with O&A in the room. Dunno why.

And at that point I'll be canceling my subscription to SiriusXM. I'm not paying for that shit. Too many quality, free podcasts to pay for substandard crap broadcasted by someone whose voice makes you want to punch your radio.

Sam Roberts isn't really a stand-alone fruit...

Youre partly right

hates to say it but sam's shows with whoo kid and nicole are starting to become more entertaining than whats O&A been doing for the past couple weeks.

As long as Sam isn't trying to channel Opie, he's great. When he tries to be Opie (picking on Erock as if he's his boss, for instance) he reminds me of Danny trying to be Ant.

That or it's renamed to A and J, a show with more comedy and a lot less complaining, cynicism and attention whoring.

And that title is way more misleading than I meant it to be. Sorry Sam fans.

I really liked sams Friday show. I happen to be a huge fan of Special Delivery, and yesterdays show had a slight feel to that with Whoo kid. He's perfect for Sam because he's outrageous and funny with out being too over the top like ESD could've been (although i liked that about him but I could see how that would get annoying quick)
