I actually felt the Opie and Derosa shows were decent because Opie was the confident seasoned radio vet in that situation. I believe it gave him back some mojo.

Derosa is kind of hit or miss, but I actually like the guy.

Opie thrives when he is the "Alpha and Omega" of the room. That doesnt happen very much...but that show he did alone with Derosa was perfect for him. He is confident when he is in control and feels like the most respected guy on mic. When he is with anyone else...he is insecure and it comes through over the air more and more each year.

Jay went into a lot of detail in the WTF podcast with Maron (I think that's what it's called).

The summary is Jay was repeatedly asked to tell the story, and after a while finally gave in and told it on stage in front of Kercher. He continued to tell it on stage in front of Kercher multiple times with him being totally fine with it. Then after a few weeks/months of telling the story, he spent a week telling the story as if it happened to him. After that week he realized after talking with his wife that it was a really shitty thing to do, so he went back with using Kercher as the character.

The whole controversy is so stupid.

I heard Bert kreischer explain on the air once that it was a story that he didn't want to do on stage and he said Jay could have it. I guess the reason he didnt want to do it was that he couldnt do a Tracy impression....i dont know.

The thing is, Louie doesn't stop by as often and not only that, the time he's gone the dude does a LOT. Back when Louie came in all the time, he didn't have anything going on, but it's totally different now. Of course you want to ask him about everything going on instead of just wanting to sit back and fuck with some callers.

I will say that when Jay hears something he wants to imitate precisely, he does repeat it a lot. Also, on his podcast he constantly big ups so many different people, I think he just repeated it because he loved the line. I don't think he's being an ass, I think he just loves it and is in the moment and goofing off and whatnot.

Jay is really at home when he is hosting a tv/entertainment show. He was awesome filling in for Rome on Rome is Burning back in the day... and also when he did that Andy Cohen Bravo show. He is funny/entertaining enough to do those 30 minute shows. When he feels like he has to be "interesting" for an hour.... its TOO MUCH MOHR.

I love Jay, and I've listened to 90% of all Mohr Stories podcasts....but Jay has washed the balls of dozens and dozens of his guests....people of reasonable but not blinding talent like Eric Roberts and John DiMaggio.

Brody Stephens and Gary Gulman both had episodes had zero laughs and turned into a full interventions. that can be interesting stuff, but it wasnt because I didn't get any feel for how funny those guys can be when they're performing. It just seemed like two mental patients.
