Yo I know ill get shit for this but fuck it.

I only read technical books and tbf I read a lot, but OnA, CQ, Norton even Old patreeky made me realise I want to improve my vocab. The only way to improve it is to read well written books. Any suggestions by you guys, remember I'm a noob...

I'd love to have a vocab like CQ, holy shit it makes jokes so much funnier.. Even the most uninteresting jokes can be made brilliant with good word selection.

Not only vocab, but learning idioms and good references would be fantastic as well. Anyway what you think?

I shudder to think how mind-blowingly dumb you are, if you think these dummies are well spoken (CQ being the exception).

haha thats funny, I do have PhD so some people would say I'm quite intelligent.. But I guess I am a bit of a dummy when it comes to vocab

A PhD in cock sucking?

The Dictionary

lol who just sits there reading the dictionary...

I watched some rap documentary on Netflix and there was a rapper who read the dictionary every day to improve his vocabulary in rap battles. It's almost exactly the same thing you're looking for. Go get a dictionary you no-words-knowing fuck

Nation of Islam converts do it while in prison.

Rich Vos parks outside that prisons, gets out of his car, stares at it, and thinks about those converts reading dicionaries. Mm, yeah. Prison is so hot.

It was a joke, sir.

Everybody Poops.

Isn't this an REM song?

Yeah, it's called Shiny Happy People.

The Protocols of the Elders of Zion is a real page-turner.

You should read something that you relate to, like a Confederacy of Dunces.

If you've got a Kindle, read some literature classics in the Amazon store. Many are free to download. Google any number of lists of famous and/or important literature and authors and cross-reference a bit to see what tickles your fancy. Reading and enjoying literature is an aquired skill, but it's very much worth it in the end.

Cheers man!

is this a joke?

Of course not. Did you think O&A fans were highly literate? You go listen to NPR if you're one of those fuckers.

Read Jimmy's book

Read Tolstoy. I'd start with the Death OF Ivan Ilyich And Other Stories translated Pevear & Volokhonsky, then go on to Anna Karenina or War & Peace.

Shut up, ass.

fight me faggot!

Do you read, John? Do you read booksh??

Yeah, I read, okay. Now c'mon.

The boys favorite book is Mike Tysons biography apparently.

Thanks dude thats great

Try to polish off a book every week or two. If it's a weekday, if I'm not watching sports on TV, I'm reading -- for three to four hours a night. Even putting the Yanks on mute if I'm engorged in a particular book. I recommend Amazon Kindle books through your laptop. You can highlight a word and get its meaning instantly. I scored a 710 verbal (with a pathetic 580 in math) on my SATs 12 years and probably three-hundred books ago, but I still find words I don't know.

Read what you enjoy. I love history, the odd autobiography, and fiction piece once in a while. If you find non-fiction interesting, that's your taste. There isn't anything wrong with not knowing a word. The real losers are those who don't highlight the word to see its meaning.

In the true spirit of this board I will add keywords: AIDS, Bobo, Lady Di, retard (Opie), pedophile, Anthony, tranny, Norton.

Thanks man

Go to the thrift store and buy some of those old Ripley's Believe It Or Not books. You can double your vocabulary AND learn about freaks at the same time! Plus there's often huge, full color pictures of those freaks.
