so fucking cool, weird how gary knew so much about opie's show, ant hasnt changed a bit.

Gary is there Erock when it comes to radio knowledge. Notice how anytime O&A need to know something about a particular show, or channel they immediately go to Erock. Gary knows his shit when it comes to music, and radio. No one would even come close to Gary when Stern show did Rock N Roll trivia except for Hank the Angry Drunken Dwarf.

Anthony rules! Best thing to happen to radio since the vacuum tube.

I remember seeing this thinking that Ant was wearing a goofy wig as a costume!

Whenever there's a Howie feud break , Ant will mention that they were fans and that he was even on the show. In '94 though they must have just started together. It's funny to think of how big the show was just 4-5 years later.

There's video of the entire segment. It's about a half hour a long and kind of fascinating. A really interesting snap-shot of the kind of weirdos and drop-outs that were die hard talk radio fans then. One guy starts ranting about having failed the police exam multiple times.

"Then"?

When he says , "the opie show" it really does sound embarrassing.

If opie had a normal fucking name people woulda been saying howard who by now.

Opie pretends like the name was forced on him.

"They wanted to call me Howdy-Doody but I was like, 'No way, maaan,' so they were like, 'Well then how about Opie?' and I was like, 'All right, whatever, it's been my dumb nickname since I was 12, so I guess we'll go with that.'"

I guarantee Gregg loved the idea of being called Opie when he first started out.

OPIE. Ugh. It's the reason I don't recommend the show to people. I'm embarrassed to say the name. It's the reason people say "O&A".

Little did Howard know he was speaking to his future #1 competition

I'm a younger guy so when I look at the clip, see its from 94 and then hear fa-fa fooey say "he does your show he's outrageous ect". Was stern that big in 94 that he already had people "stealing his show"?

OF COURSE THEY WERE!!! I INVENTED IT HOYBOE!! TELL EM FRED

Howard was big in the '80s, at least in New York. Early '90s was when he began to spread over the country.

Didn't know there was video for it, only heard the audio.

He really did look like a total creep

Great piece of history

Holy shit, have they mentioned this before on air?

I believe so. They played the clip on the show once that I am aware of. Wasn't a long bit I think.

"are you a professional comedian?"

No, but I will be, and a much better one than you,Howie hoo! hoo! hoo!
