Denny's technique is actually completely correct when it comes to music DJs, and this guy is pretty on as well (with the exception of talking over the last song). Too bad the Big D never got his break.
My theory is that Denny was bi-curious and was in love with this guy when he was young and impressionable, and is forever trying to chase the dragon of their glory days giving each other knowing looks over the board. That's why he's stuck in an arrested development type stage in his career.
