Hey bbbbbboys!

Maybe I'm just an asshole but I don't get why more people don't call in with that when they know it annoys them. Maybe throw in a "well you obviously don't get the bit then". It would be perfect for an eating on the air segment.

Someone should call in and be like
"Morning, b-b-b-b-b-b-b-b-b-b-b-b-b-b-b-b-b-b-b-b-b-b-b
until they hang up.

I'm such a retard. I just tried to call in for 10 minutes to do that before realizing today was Saturday. I'm an ass.

An action worthy of someone with such a username.

I've always wanted to call in and just use all the hello phrases. Just start with first time long time then go on to morning bbbbboys, then a happy birthday Jimmy, and so on and so on.

I tried to find the video of the caller that did this, but it seems like it was taken down. Op and Jim egged him on while Ant lost his shit (hilariously).

Punching out

Fuck, that is so annoying. Why do we need to know that you're hanging up? You're a nobody. No one cares. Goodbye.

I thought their anger was a joke at first. Really? It's getting old? "Mmmmike" "dan...the man". "Jariiiiid". "Hey there Scott"

Hi John. How did it hahhppen?
6 Viking_Lordbeast 2014-05-03
Do you know why they do that to Mike callers? That happens to be my name so I notice it everytime.
4 dianakurlan2 2014-05-03
It's from The Godfather. Fredo says it like that after Michael publicly scolds Moe Green.
"Mmmike! You don't go to Vegas and talk to Moe Green like THAT!"
4 Viking_Lordbeast 2014-05-03
Thanks man. That's really been bugging me for years.
3 sciencebzzt 2014-05-03
You don't go to Vegas and talk to A MAN LIKE Moe Green like THAT!"

They've been doing it since at least as long as I've been listening. Which is why it's funny that they complain about old jokes
2 vincenzof 2014-05-03
Oh yah? Is it reasonable?
1 Highlander253 2014-05-03
Oh yeah? Is it reeaaasonable?
1 dochattan 2014-05-03
"Briiian".
7 [deleted] 2014-05-03
I liked when that guy called in a couple of weeks ago and said "you guys suck" (a WNEW homage) and Opie immediately got pissed and defensive and was ready to call him a FUCKFACE or DOUCHBAG, or whatever other Opie retort came to mind.
2 WiretapStudios 2014-05-03
Is that a different homage reference than the clip they used to use all the time "Hey assholes! You guys suck!" - from Dodgeball?
2 [deleted] 2014-05-03
Yeah, it's different. This was from WNEW and started in 1998 or 1999. The story I read was that people kept calling in and saying stuff like "you guys kick ass" or "you guys rock" and it got turned around to "you guys suck" just like them doing Worst Of's instead of Best Of's, which started around that time too.
They were also really good at deflecting criticism back then, because if someone called in to tell them they were idiots or jerks or that they sucked, they could just say "yep, we say these things about ourselves every day"
3 LatinoComedian 2014-05-03
I seem to remember it that when they started at WNEW, people used to always call in and tell them, "you guys suck" because they weren't the usual jocks the listeners were used to. Then O&A started gaining traction and get some fans that would call in and say it sarcastically.
At least that's how I remember it going down back then.
1 [deleted] 2014-05-03
You could be right. I didn't listen back then, I've just listened to old shows online. I know "shut up and play the music" was another phrase they used a lot, because that's what everyone would say when they moved into a new market.
1 TheDisastrousGamer 2014-05-03
In the caller's defense, O&A were not what they were used to.
1 WiretapStudios 2014-05-03
Thanks for the info, I'll check out some clips from then.
1 Kirillb85 2014-05-03
that's brilliant way to deflect criticism.
2 vincenzof 2014-05-03
I just shook my head at that one. So ready to pounce they didn't realize the guy was as old school as they come.
6 VeritablyClean 2014-05-03
morning b-b-b-b-boys + happy birthday jimmy + long time listener, first time caller + big fan from the _____ days
just don't use mmm good evening, they like that one
5 FresnoJefferson 2014-05-03
and add a "you guys suck" and "Slabbo!" at the end of that.
1 tlake2525 2014-05-03
....Slobbo. not Slabbo.
4 vincenzof 2014-05-03
The idea of a caller telling them they don't get the bit had me howling.

1 buttriot 2014-05-03
and yet, opie will still say berfday and wershing and not see anything wrong with it.
4 FresnoJefferson 2014-05-03
He does that on purpose.
6 buttriot 2014-05-03
of course he does. It's part of the master "bit" he's doing and he's so brilliant.
3 GleepGlorpFloopdedoo 2014-05-03
It is, because it's annoying you, which entertains me.
0 buttriot 2014-05-03
yeah? And do you tell yourself that opie's kid stories are also entertaining?
2 CUNTYMOM 2014-05-03
i love this myth of opies 40 minutes of kids stories a show, he might reference his kid if its relevant to what they are talking about, he doesnt turn one thing into a 40 minute rant like ant does, the last time i remember a long opie kids story was when he kid got lost in the elevator.
-4 buttriot 2014-05-03
But have you met the fans of this show? All gun toting, anti-social, conspiracy, white powerl, liberal bashers. Ant is sickening to anyone with a brain, but the audience of the show is attracted to his racial rants. At least there is a purpose for the show for what he does. Opie is just talentless and when he isn't making something up, he only has his children to talk about.
1 GleepGlorpFloopdedoo 2014-05-03
Nope, I've never said such a thing.
2 rottenseed 2014-05-03
How many of these geetings along with tweets that people post are just people trying to get them riled up? They seem so sensitive it's easy to get a reaction.
2 BlueScreenOfDer 2014-05-03
I'd like to see people bring back "Over and out, Diamond Dust"
0 GleepGlorpFloopdedoo 2014-05-03
It's not that it's old, it's that it's supposed to be a callback to Bruce Mittman and the way he talked ("boyyyyyys...."), but everyone does it incorrectly, thus it's annoying. And kind of douchey.
