If you miss the XM years, check out YKWD

Back when O&A was on XM Radio, there were a lot more comedians on the show. Louis CK, Patrice, Amy Schumer, Bill Burr, Bob Kelly, Otto and George, etc. Almost every week there was someone dropping in.

On Sirius, these appearances are rare. Louis CK drops in about once a year, Schumer does likewise. A couple of regulars sadly died :( Bill Burr is a welcome exception to the rule, and has supported the show through thick and thin.

Whenever I listen to YKWD, it reminds of those great years at XM Radio. Lots of comedians. A high energy level.

I think the part I miss the most is when you can tell that everyone in the room is competing with each other, a whole roomful of great comedians fighting to blurt out the funniest line possible. On Sirius radio it frequently seems that O&A are struggling to come up with material, where on XM Radio it felt like a bunch of people vying to be the funniest person in the room.

I've had a LOT easier time following along the last few months. The shows are better now, for sure.

Nailed it.

Also that fat Australian girl is an annoying cunt.

When people say things like "Opie is so unfunny, he is the hole of the show", this is exactly what they are forgetting.

Opie stops this shit from happening.

The Aussie girl annoys me....AYYYY NAAAAY!

That was Bobo's dream girl. Y-you leave her alone, orroi.. you leave her alone, orroiyytt!

Cut it out SPADE!

"well when you put it like that..."

I kinda know her in real life, and I've never found her particularly funny. When she latched onto this gig I was shocked that she of all people got the opportunity. I can name a dozen funnier 20something chick comics in New York (assuming that was the quota Bobby was filling).

Jahfuckahh?

She's good on the show, her stand up is weak. I hope she's trying for writing gigs or something. Kelly CGI doe.

I've seen her do a lot of sets but the only time I listened to YKWD was Troy's episode and she wasn't there.

I wonder if she got the gig because Soder was trying to mash dat.

I wanna like YKWD but the few times I've listened it felt overcrowded and too many people in studio. Are there always five comics in or is it sometimes just Bobby, Kelly, and Soder?

YKWD is fucking hilarious. Angry Bob trying to wrangle the animals, everyone hating Kelly Fatsucca, Soder's impressions (especially of Gomez), Bob shitting on Luis for going too far and the Artie Lange impression. I listened to some of the early ones with Derosa & Soder. The "joey roses" and "Gata fight" episodes are favorites.

Totally. Joe Rogan has openly admitted that he started doing his podcast because he had a good time on the O&A show, and he liked how they didn't do 'bits' and it was just a 'hang.' 'YKWD' is a lot like that.

I'd rather it was just the Bobby and 2 or 3 comedians rather then having all of bobbys no name friends join along.

Still trying to find the video clip of YKWD live where Luis Gomez sucked a fake dildo so well that Bailey Jay punched out.

Here's the audio: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B5KHIaBzUUA

When they were on XM and E-Lo was the boss, they understood that having comedian friends in was good for the show and since they weren't paid they would allow them to record a plug for their upcoming gigs and run it through the weeks. Sounds fair, right?

Not to Sirius....they put the clamps on that, they can only plug their gigs while they're on the show, no extra commercials run or they have to pay for advertising. It's why Opie and Jimmy try to be super diligent in getting their plugs out when they DO have on ein. Not surprising at all, they've just become such a shitty company to EVERYONE since the merger.

I really don't get it. Having comedians on the show makes for good radio, and it also keeps the hosts from burning out. Even mediocre comedians make for better radio than what they do now. Every single day it's the same shit: watch Youtube for ninety minutes, complain about management, an occasional race rant, some bitching about Obama. That's the show now that comedians stopped coming.

I have never listened and I see there are a LOT of episodes. Could anyone recommend a few good ones to start with?
