How come when funny people on the left....

0  2014-04-17 by maynardsabeast

Talk about politics it can be really funny. But when the few funny people on the right talk politics, they get really angry, spit on the microphone, and are the least funny they've ever been in their life.

Of course I'm talking about our own Anthony Cumia who is one of the funniest people on earth but when he talks politics he is just an angry, raving, lunatic

I think Ant is hilarious when he goes on his rants.

However, I will say for the most part, both in real life and in the comment sections on the internet, the far-right are fucking lunatics.

SEE: CNN comments, Yahoo News comments

I think the problem with the right talking about politics, there is always a religious or a selfish edge to it which makes it unfunny. Every right-wing political rant comes down to essentially "I want more for me and less for others." It's an understandable viewpoint. But it makes someone come across as a dick and rightly so.

Regardless, I gave you an upvote. Any topic here that bashes the right always gets downvoted to hell, and I feel that the right are at times fucking mongoloids just as much as the left are unrealistic bleeding hearts.

The only reason I even thought of this is because I realized that Anthony can potentially have a very successful show on Fox news at the 11:30 slot. Sure he's not actually delivering punch lines and funny jokes when he's ranting but we all obviously know that he is a very funny guy. Besides Dennis Miller (who is debatably funny) the right does not have a single funny man. And if you watch Bill Maher, John Stewart, and Colbert, being funny in politics DEFINITELY means something and sways people

I think Ant makes great points. And he is able to be funny while he does it. However, he loses me because he never cites anything. And I'll wager more often than not, he is getting his statistics and information from websites with....somewhat a racial bias.

"It's a 90% illegitimacy rate in inner cities (Niggermania, 2009)"

Besides Dennis Miller (who is debatably funny) the right does not have a single funny man.

Your point is totally valid, but I thought I'd point out that there are exceptions in areas outside of NY/LA, and even DiPaolo in NY. Miller is great, but his political views make him a much more niche talent because Fox is the only outlet willing to put out a show with a conservative slant.

well wtf bro. name the exceptions. Dipaolo is the only one thats comes to mind and Anthony is funnier and more famous than him

You're getting into subjective territory. Some successful comedians with conservative tendencies: Joan Rivers, Kevin James, Dennis Miller, Drew Carrey, Nate Bargatze, Adam Sandler, the Blue Collar crew, Bob Hope, Jackie Mason.

White person, please. You bring up politics with liberals and they start sniveling and snarling about "BOOOSH". It's about equal on both sides.

I personally don't think the comedians on the left are all that funny. It comes off as more a mix of smugness and preachiness, with a little condescension mixed in. The anger from the right is part of what makes it funny. Nick DiPaolo or Adam Carolla are worlds funnier than the Daily Show or their biased interviews and lying tactics taken straight from "Rules for Radicals". I'm reminded of a Neil Hamburger joke. He would go in front of some college crowd and say "I don't know about you, but I think that George Bush is the worst president we've ever had", and the audience would, of course, clap and hoot and act like he just came up with "The Seven Dirty Words" bit, and once they quieted down, he would continue, "Which makes it odd that his son, George W. Bush is the BEST president we've ever had!" and watch the crowd just get perplexed. It's like what Tina Fey said about The Daily Show crowd, where she called it "Clapter" instead of "Laughter". The crowd is more willing to OVER applaud an unfunny joke if it's in line with their beliefs, which makes for unfunny comedy with giant laughs.

Fair and interesting points. But I disagree with you if you don't think the Daily Show is funny. I find it pretty hilarious. I think Colbert is even funnier, and am pretty certain that Jon Olivers show will be great. And even if you don't personally think its funny, you can't really deny the ratings and popularity. There's plenty of smart, political shows out there that don't get a quarter of the ratings cuz there's no comedy involved

I just don't enjoy it. I understand that there are a lot of people out there who watch it, but a lot of those people ONLY get their news from The Daily Show, and vote ased on what The Daily Show told them. The fact remains that they edit interviews and motherfuck anyone to the right of Olbermann by making them look stupid. They'll attack the Duke LaCrosse team, and once it turns out they're innocent, never mention it again. But then again, I only watch it when Brietbart links to a video of it twisting the truth and oversimplifying.

The arrogance of Liberals. The problem with Liberals is that they are so certain that they are always right and that the rest of us poor bumkins have either deep character flaws, mental retardation or are closet brown shirts. Shut off Comedy Central and read a book, magazine or newspaper. Funny is funny. Colbert’s show is funny. Not because he’s Liberal. Ever see Airplane or the Naked Gun movies. Conservatives are funny also. There has been a Conservative tradition going from H. L. Mencken to P. J. O’Rourke to David Zucker of biting satire. Indeed one could go back further to Aristophanes’ jibes at the puffed-up seers and pretensions philosophers of Ancient Greece (Cloud Cuckooland) to Jonathan Swift’s lampooning of 18th century conventional thought. The great Samuel Johnson was a master at skewering the utopians of his age. And you know why Ant hates the shows fans.

Dude you are trying way too hard to sound smart. And I'll admit, it worked, and you probably are smarter than me. But that wasn't a great answer. In all of broadcast media there is basically zero funny conservatives with their own shows. Politically, economically, and common sense wise there should be a daily, republican answer and rebuttal to the Daily Show, REal Time, and Colbert. You know that the people at Fox News have been champing at the bit for a decade now trying to find this guy. Republicans are getting destroyed politically by shows like The Daily Show. The youth vote has always been liberal but with the right getting more and more conservative and serious, and the liberals being hilarious on a nightly basis, its just baddddd news for the republicans.

I'm truly not liberal either. I guess I would classify myself as a Libertarian. But in actuality I feel this country truly needs a true "Middle Class Party". A party that recognizes they are being mouth fucked by lazy, dirtbag, leaches that mooch off of the government (and will never be caught because there isn't enough manpower and oversight to make sure they legitimately need or deserve it). While we take fat cocks in the ass by greedy, awful, shyster billion and millionaires. All of use people that are legitimately middle class (anyone making between50k-250k per household is probably the sweet spot) are being polarized into blaming their miserable lives on either the poor (and calling themselves REpublicans) or blaming it all on the rich (and calling themselves Democrats) So the middle class just get tricked into fighting with each other as the shadowy leaches and shysters reap all the reward

Not trying to sound smart. Just trying to point out the arrogance of Liberals. Listen to Carlin a Liberal himself on the arrogance of Liberals on the environment. Thinking Comedy Central is going to sway elections is preposterous. Follow history, this midterm election will be a victory for the Republicans and most likely a win in 2016 Presidential election. It has nothing to do with President Obama. History shows the party that holds the White House for two consecutive terms loses. Bismarck famously said, "if your not a Liberal in your twenties you have no heart, if you are still a Liberal in your thirties you have no brain". By the way I'm not a conservative. I'm an Independent who leans slightly to the left. i just like pointing out the bias in both political ideologies. I'm not saying I'm right. I'm just an old guy who seen all this b.s. before. We probably are real close in our thinking. I just think some people are funny and some are not. It has nothing to do with political leanings. Thank you for not insulting me for not agreeing with you. That's the norm on here. Take care my friend.

Daily Republican answer to The Daily Show and Real Time is Red Eye.

I don't think my post is very arrogant either. What I said is pretty obvious and everyone on here is overwhelmingly agreeing with me.

Political satire and comedy has historically always worked well on the left and not through the right. It's probably just due to their ideologies and how people can poke fun at their liberal/conservative thoughts.

Shows like The Daily Show and Colbert work well because their heavily satirical nature can poke holes in the serious theories presented by conservatives. Similarly they can do the same to liberals. SNL has also been able to poke fun of left and right politicians despite being mainly a liberally produced show.

I cannot think of any conservative comedic/satirical shows that have ever worked. It's just the way the humor works

Watch Red-Eye with Greg Gutfeld

Not even close to being funny.

yeah thats my point. And I consider myself a pretty middle (slightly left leaning guy). But don't you think the point I'm raising has some validity to it? Like republicans have laughibly dumb ideas and points ALL THE TIME, ON THE JOHN DAILY perhaps???. And dems maybe get a solid joke thrown at them once a week? I'm just asking questions. Just Troy Quan'n.

Oh yeah and "just Troy Quan'n reminds me that even a cool guy like Troy goes in the barrell yet Roland Pig is off limits

*edited cuz of an annoyingly fucked up back up laptop

I'm a conservative and yeah I've noticed it. I think it comes down to being anti-establishment is more funny than being pro.

I also think left leaning positions are becoming less humorous and more preachy. Only because it's becoming more the norm. Conservatives aren't becoming funnier.

Add in God. Conservstives tend to adhere to religious values and nothing is more unfunny than saying why can't we be more like Jesus.

Libertarian's can be funny. Stanhope. Jimmy is funny when he makes fun of liberal double standards. But advocating for traditional family values, patriotism is about as funny as describing why a healthy diet is good for your cholesterol.

You're a good dude. All your points make sense and I dig it. Well done sir. I guarantee this will be the best answer I get in this post The one thing I will add is the fact that the left are becoming monsters. This new world of the media covering Suey Park "cancel Colbet" and blacks shutting down Imus is not good. It's that snake that eats itself type shit (don't remember what it's called and too lazy to look it up)

yeesh.

sounds like something jimmy would say. or actually something that Jimmy does say. Do you base your entire existence based on Jim Norton in real life, or do you just do that online? I'm just curious?

I totally understand where you're coming from since I was once a dumbass know it all college kid as well.

Are you drunk, or old? (Random caps, calling Jon Stewart "JOHN DAILY", multiple ???). Conservative political humor just doesn't work. No one can truly do it successfully. I don't think what I said questioned the validity of your post, I just don't think conservative political observation comedy works, and cannot think of any that has. I don't disagree with what you said, but I would like to know where you are going with this.

I'm drunk and (fairly) young. I called him John Daily on purpose for multiple entandres of comedic gold. His names John, he's on daily, there's a golfer named John Daily etc etc. And my point really is this....If it's WAY easier to create jokes and laugh at jokes about republicans, then how are they not sillier?

I'm going to assume you mean how are republicans not sillier? It's their general philosophies which deny them a "silly" demeanor. They generally come across as serious people who cannot see the slight hilarities in life. Conservative opinion has largely been straight forward and rarely strayed from the path of generalities they use. Opposingly, liberal humor can take what both conservatives and liberals say and use their own words against them.

Cause some people have thin skin, even if it looks rough enough to strike a match.

Ant's not a political humorist. His humor and politics are pretty separate. Also, most comedians are lefties.

Do you agree that the fact that (A)most comedians are lefties and (B) theres ALOT of humor in making fun of republicans and basically zero humor making fun of democrats means something?

I don't think there's more humor in making fun of one side than the other, but no one goes after the left because you have to cater to your audience. I saw Jay Mohr do a theater gig in a fairly conservative area and he flipped the script a little bit, and I'm pretty sure he's a lib. This is rare though.

I love Jay Mohr but he's a bad example when it comes to things like morals and standards

Who's talking about morals or standards?

ok i see your point. we're only talking about funny right now and morals and standards dont count. Was he actually successfull when he flipped the script or did he start screaming "GIT R DUNN" like he was the one who created it?

No, it was organic. I like regular Jay and he scaled back the vulgarity and his normal antics a bit so I didn't love it, but he killed.

I seem to remember back in the 80's and 90's there were plenty of angry liberals.

Yeah angry FUNNY liberals

Yea, what happened to the funny part?

They also weren't lackeys. Carlin was liberal but would rip on any hipocracy. Being for a candidate is too close to PR.

It's when it goes from this is my perspective to towing the party line, it's just not fun to hear.

Subjective.

Reddit is bleeding into this sub....so many fuckin liberal posts on here recently what da fuckkkkk

Instead of just calling me a liberal pussy, why not prove me wrong? Show me funny conservative comedy that doesn't invoke Jeff foxworthy

You just don't like it because you don't agree with what he's saying. What Ant says is fuckin hilarious and if you ever watch his arguments on Twitter, theyre funny as fuck. And Foxworthy's terrible but, sticking within the blue collar comedy tour, Ron White is hilarious. Also -- a couple of the comedians they have on the show are right-leaning or libertarian and talk about politics or other contemporary topics-- like Joe Rogan. So much better than hearing liberals babble about Bush or whatever.

Joe Rogan leans way more left then he does right on most issues. And Anthony is not funny when he talks politics. He just starts yelling and I guess him becoming so hostile and mad is kinda funny, but the content isn't there.

Listen, I'm not a liberal. I'm pro gun, and I cringe and get embarrassed as an American when I hear this PC, anti first amendment garbage that the liberals are pretty much solely responsible for. All this Salon .com faggot, thought policing, garbage that thinks people should be fired and shamed because their opinions may hurt someone else's feelings. Or the way we are too scared to just simply admit FACTS about race and crime. Or the way everyone in this country is just champing at the bit to sue someone, for anything they can possibly think of. It's disgusting. If you think that a hardcore liberal can have these thoughts, and also think that Anthony is correct about his political views probably more than 50% of the time, then whatever. But the fact is, the comedy that comes from the left makes me laugh. And the comedy coming from the right barely exists. And I just think there's something significant to that

How is Joe Rogan left leaning at all as opposed to libertarian

Ant gets riled up about it. That's fine and all, I just wish I didn't have to hear the same argument every time. I don't generally agree with Ant on a lot of issues (actually I don't really give a shit about those issues), but I can tell exactly how he's going to respond to a caller's points because of how often he talks about it.

SHAAADUP SHAAAADUP SHAAAAD UP SHAAAAAAAAAD UP

Almost all leftist comedians are awful when talking politics.

Case in point: the daily show, and colbert report, the two most unfunny overrated "comedy" shows on TV.

Dumbest comment ever. Even ant agree Colbert is hilarious and has a hard time admitting Stewart isn't funny. You are an idiot and so insanely biased that you say ridiculous thinrs

Last time I watched the colbert show, he had some faggot guest on for an interview, about how the spike footed goat in China was being raised for angora sweaters or some shit, but that the prevalence of these goats were creating a new dustbowl that could DESTROY THE ENVIRONMENT! Then colbert follows that up with, "yes but the environment is just for those tree hugging hippies right?" and the crowd laughed and laughed. After they calmed down the guest responded seriously with the "no but this is a very serious situation" and colbert let him babble about his pet cause, plugged the book after a couple minutes, and then went to commercial.

I'm sorry, were you saying something about bias?

I never said it wasn't biased. I just said it IS FUNNY, very funny. Colbert character is undeniably hilarious

It's too late. You have suffered a severe emotional trauma.

I will notify a rape crisis center.

Faggot. 8)

WHAT? Ugh you are a douche bag. I just cringed at this comment. Way to pat yourself on the back for bringing nothing to the table. You said the Daily Show and Colbert were not funny and then declared yourself the winner. Good work bro!!
