Opie was great on air today

His energy was through the roof, he said a few funnies, and he hung up on Levy. Definitely the best O&J show to date.

Opie has been much funnier since the start of the year. You guys don't give him enough credit.
6 rumpumpumpum 2014-04-16
I think we owe him AN APOLOGY!
0 10below 2014-04-16
Opie 'the Destroyer' fucking rules.
-1 CUNTYMOM 2014-04-16
fuck you ive been defending him in every opie hate post, i was glad to see this thread though because he really was great yesterday and it just shows that the show isnt all riding on ant, he adds a ton but opie is fine without him, the other way around no way, ant needs opie or else he's just another podcaster, a shitty one at that, he is a funny fuck but cant keep a radio-like pace going, just a bunch of endless joke tagging.
27 ReDMeridiaN 2014-04-16
It's always funny when Vos is in and Opie points out how stupid Rich is. Especially because Opie is basically just a clone of Vos who can speak better.
8 VeritablyClean 2014-04-16
Opie and Vos have pretty good rapport, they smash each other and Opie is pretty funny when they're together
3 a700hp 2014-04-16
Vos was on the R/F show a few years back just days before east side left the show, Vos 3rd degreed Davy Mac about Dave’s future plans, Vos showed a side of himself I didn't know existed, he was explaining some pretty good life’s lessons to Dave, I was pretty impressed at the time, from that time on I developed a new respect for Rich, the dumb exterior he displays is a good act
3 [deleted] 2014-04-16
Vos being dumb is definitely played up for the show, and you can tell he plays it up himself. I don't doubt that he's probably a little absent minded, and not very book smart but something tells me when it comes to life advice Vos is probably pretty knowledgeable. He's been through a lot of shit himself, and still managed to make it out the other side. Not many people would be able to pull that off.
3 lol_fps_newbie 2014-04-16
He gave Louis CK advice on his divorce that Louis acknowledged as being super helpful. He's certainly not the worst guy to get advice from, apparently.
3 ENTROPYLOVESVAG 2014-04-16
Soder told me Vos is one of the nicest and most helpful people in the business, professionally and personally. I would love to play a round of golf with him.
1 VanDamme79 2014-04-16
I think we have a new (qualified) advise show host!
24 DoubleGuns 2014-04-16
Ant is preferable when there's a full show but if I had to choose between listening to just one of them alongside Jimmy it would definitely be Op.
4 climbon321 2014-04-16
If for no other reason than not having to hear another rant about taxes.
21 Phrunkis2 2014-04-16
Opie always ups his game when Ant's out.
14 bigtonyy 2014-04-16
Ant doesn't really shift gears when Oppehs out.

OPAAAAAAY
21 tedsfurrydingle 2014-04-16
That line made me giggle. Yeah downvote me to shit, but I actually like some of the solo Op shows.
9 JMueller2012 2014-04-16
He's very good when Vos is on
9 pekingoose 2014-04-16
Opie explaining why Otto was a ventriloquist.
It might have been a way to say things he wouldn't say himself
Opie is surely an insightful genius.
10 Its_Just_a_Ridee 2014-04-16
That line made me laugh. Not because it was funny, but because how insanely obvious and retarded that statement was
5 rottengymshorts 2014-04-16
I notice whenever Burr is in and Op says something so obvious, there's just a silence and you know Burr is thinking "Dude, did you really not know that?".
4 Clown_Shoe 2014-04-16
Just because you imagine it doesn't make it true.
6 NoirMagieGateau 2014-04-16
I didn't take it as him trying to say something profound. Everyone else during the discussion were saying anything but the obvious.
1 a700hp 2014-04-16
just call him "captain obvious" the blond version of literal jim
9 sheRATCHETT 2014-04-16
I like opie and vos together especially. Vos seems to be the only one that ever takes jabs at opie
7 dankfranklin 2014-04-16
I like how he told his Mitch Hedberg story again, this time exaggerating it to the point that Hedberg was dead "hours later." He actually met Mitch 9 or 10 days before he died.
14 The_Teachers_Ass 2014-04-16
Well he was dead hours later, even if it was 216-240 hours later.
5 [deleted] 2014-04-16
Do you even pay attention? Opie has over the years many times admitted to hyping stories up for the show. He knows he's doing it. Also, in life most everyone hypes up a story while they tell it. The only difference is its a little easier to catch Opie & Anthony since they're on the radio and talk 20 hours a week, 250 shows a year, for the last 20 years. If I listened to you talk that much I'd find some holes in your life stories too.

Shows like today where Opie actually talks and drives the show when Ant is out makes me think he purposely lets Jimmy and Ant be the funny guys while he plays the straight man. Everyone knocks the guy but he knows radio. Especially when he only has Vos to deal with. Vos sucks a dick.
0 WadeWilsonsSoul 2014-04-16
Vos is not funny..at all..unless he's being laughed at. Never laughed with.
And he has the worst analogies of all time. Sounded like a fucking moron Re: the Southwest flight attendant video. Pathetic.
5 powers55 2014-04-16
Great show today, laid back hang type vibe. Vos was quick and stupid which is all you can ask for...also seemed less gunny and racisty to me.
3 FrunkisOA 2014-04-16
He was great... He set the tone for the show and sounded angry. Much better than I thought it was going to be
3 rterrana691 2014-04-16
I was laughing out loud with the poster thing. May have dragged it out a bit but still funny
3 finestelite 2014-04-16
Man of the people!
3 PureHufflepuff 2014-04-16
Opie was great today. And, god help me...Vos actually seemed really quick-witted. I guess he gets in lines more effectively when fewer people are waiting to kick the shit out of him the instant he opens that cavernous gauntlet of chiclets he calls a mouth
3 [deleted] 2014-04-16
Vos has always been quick with the comebacks the difference is he usually ruins it by saying something incredibly dumb 2 seconds later.
2 Chamomileable 2014-04-16
Opie + Vos is one of the better modified lineups. Ronnie + Opie + Anthony is probably the best, but I REALLY want to hear a Dennis + Anthony show some time, but there's so many folks who'd get the Opie seat before Denny that it probably won't ever happen.
2 readicculus610 2014-04-16
The worst was the Opie + Joe DeRosa show a while back, I'd take Denny + Ant over that. I really want to hear a regular show one day except no Jimmy only Chip the entire show. FAWK YEA.
2 CBAnaesthesia 2014-04-16
That Chip podcast someone posted earlier was a work of art.
1 ooohkay 2014-04-16
you didnt like when they dimmed the lights and got into derosa's childhood?
2 VanDamme79 2014-04-16
I actually thought that it was entertaining. Not funny entertaining, but it made me like Joe more.

"ok lets redo the posters..." - opie
1 RzK 2014-04-16
Opie is a pretty funny guy you just have to listen close. It's hard to notice when the room is full of actual comedians.
0 andrewsj1 2014-04-16
That "limited edition" break was boring as fuck tho.
-1 iamfromreallife 2014-04-16
A few funnies? Eww....
3 [deleted] 2014-04-16
Typing out a disgusted response that Jim Norton frequently uses on the radio? Yech....
1 iamfromreallife 2014-04-16
Whatevs...
-7 opiesucks 2014-04-16
i haven't listened to todays episode and I know he wasn't great.
-8 OpiesTits 2014-04-16
Do none of you find it pathetic that 20 years into this show and you have to start circle-jerky threads when the co-host had "a few funnies" that day?
Start some more Roland threads.
12 SergeantFartbox 2014-04-16
No, because this is a subreddit for the show, and this is a post about today's show. Your novelty account really is a riot, but I don't think it's necessary right now.
8 TheHotsauceKid 2014-04-16
I see it as a response to the overwhelming negativity that Opie gets on here, and most fansites. It's not trying to validate Opie's existence or say, "No see, he said a funny at 7:15 so you guys are wrong!!". I see it as people who are fans of his trying to offset all the negative shit that gets posted here.
2 a700hp 2014-04-16
stop laying so much importance on this reddit i doubt they even check out this site,
0 OpiesTits 2014-04-16
Here's my thing. Everyone shitting on Roland because he get's "White Glove" treatment right? Does anyone realize that's what happens everyday with Opie? Why isn't he broken to pieces for selling his shitty Instagram photos. Or that T-Shirt that somehow looks worse than something you'd find on the wall of a Spencer Gifts. Op bombs hard. LOTS. Ruins flows. Interrupts. Has bad crutches. Tells go nowhere stories that NOBODY finds interesting yet they sit there, listen and NEVER CALL HIM OUT. Nobody bats an eye.
I've read enough of people mocking him here that they understand that his "You just don't GET the bit" line actually means "You called me out on my terrible shit and now I'm embarrassed and have no comeback".
So when Roland pulls his "White Glove" nonsense, he's crucified. Opie does it everyday and his 2 lines worthy of a mild chuckle gets a praise thread.
3 VanDamme79 2014-04-16
Don't forget that they never play "fuck you Opie" calls on the fuck-you line. Lots of Sam, some of Jim, a couple toward Ant, but NEVER Opie. White gloves!
2 Happy_ScrappyHeroPup 2014-04-16
To play devil's advocate: Op's a radio guy doing a show next to two really quick comedians (I'm including Ant). He can't not talk, and those guys operate out of his comfort zone so sometimes he looks ridiculous when he talks to remind you he's there. Shows like today are fun because we get to see him control the pace for the whole show.
-4 OpiesTits 2014-04-16
Sir, you must be mistaken. Opie is the MASTER of SHOCK comedy. Didn't you know?
Edit - Why is this being downvoted when that's what he called himself on his Twitter title. You guys sure love downvoting the truth.
2 [deleted] 2014-04-16
Uh, maybe because its Opie's fucking show you dumb motherfucker and that's why he gets special treatment. That's like saying how come Howard Stern trashes people on his show, but never gets trashed himself. Well its his fucking show of course he isn't going to get trashed the same way the staff, or a celebrity might. How god damn thick headed are you? Ant never gets trashed himself, and you hardly ever see Jimmy get trashed too. You have no point here. Oh, and lets not act like Ant has never ruined the flow of the show either. Before he called out sick today the last 2 or 3 shows have been nothing but rants about guns, race, health care, and Obama. The same old boring shit brought up over, and over again with the same shitty facts reiterated 100 times.
1 Djs3634 2014-04-16
Well said.
1 delphian1 2014-04-16
It seems to me that Opies performance gets nitpicked and bashed almost daily here though. I've seen weekly posts dedicated to how much Opie sucks for the past year so when you say "nobody..calls him out" I have to disagree.
And Roland is low hanging fruit that people know they can get a rise out of. Opie, whether you think is funny or not, doesn't give a fuck and won't give the same level of satisfaction that people know they can get out of Roland.
1 OpiesTits 2014-04-16
When I say nobody, I'm meaning Ant/Jim/Staff. You're giving this sub too much credit.
1 delphian1 2014-04-16
Ok I see what you mean
In regards to the former or latter?
