To paraphrase for both of you.

Roland has sort of drawn the ire of the listeners over the past week or two due to the way he acts. The downhill roll started when the boys found out that Dominic Ansel, the cronut guy, was mysteriously not on the show the day he was booked after the boys joked around about cronuts and questioned the logic of not being more reasonable about producing his product. While Roland said that he was contacted by Dominic's wife, the tweet she sent was hardly something indicating he wouldn't want to be on. He was also heard saying after the postshow that he may just cancel. When confronted on Twitter, he ignored and blocked any questions while hurling insults, which made things worse for him. Folks started to call the staff on how often he gets passed over when people get ribbed, and how he's extremely negative towards Erock by attacking his weight, when Roland is nearly double Erock's weight at his worst.

You must not remember the days before a booker worked with the show.

Their best guests are the comedians who regularly do the show anyway with or without Roland. Who cares if he gets a bunch of boring actors, ufc fighters, and local restaurant owners on the show?

I maintain that the show is better off with Roland than it was without him. The days of Steve C. booking guests were fairly awful. Also, EVERY time Opie heard about another show getting "a bunch of boring actors" he, Jim and Ant bitched about why they weren't seeing any of them. --Cast of Breaking bad, cast of The Wire, all those "friends" were brought in by the fat man.

The consequences of this bridge-burning policy were not exactly difficult to predict. Very quickly it became impossible for the show to book guests, PR agencies may be scum, but they are not complete imbeciles.

Opie & Anthony have since admitted to very consciously making a decision to change how they went about things. And now will sit there and nod as some vacuous non-entity bores us to death. Roland was re-hired simultaneous to this deliberate change of mind.

You therefore have cause and effect mixed up. Steve didn't book shit guests, he booked what he could get. Roland didn't book good guests, he booked what the show not shitting on shitty guests allowed him to get.

No-one was brought to the show by fatso. They were in the building already. When they are running late that is because they are doing another show on the floor, when they have to leave, that is because they have to do another show on the floor.

I do not think Roland is an opie and Anthony staff member proper, like a sal or an Erock or a Sam. He's like a freelancer/contractor that works for Sirius to book guests, which is why he is immune to the mushroom stamp.

I really don't get what you guys want here. Roland doesn't get shit on as much as the rest of the staff because they know he's more sensitive. If they constantly shit on him knowing that it actually hurts him that would be a really shitty thing to do to a co-worker/friend and they probably aren't willing to do that for a few laughs on the show.

It's a glaring double-standard on the show that is so "real" they will say Opie benefited from Obamacare (big whoop), but will destroy any other show or institution for not being "real" and not calling people out on things yet they walk on ice for this weakling. They've made their show based on being real and on that basis having some legitimate basis for criticizing everyone else for not being so. So I think people have the right to criticize the show when it comes to matters like this that are completely counter to what they try to sell themselves as.

I suppose the options going forward would be to address the issue on the air and make Roland man-up and get "real" like the rest of them, OR at least keep him off the air and don't coddle him and kiss his ass on the air. Put him in the shadows like D-boy or Troy (even though I had/have no issue with those two) and this who die off and go away.

This is retarded. Roland is still good at his job. He's paranoid about maintaining good relationships with the guests (or their publicists) that he books for the show. Sometimes get he's paranoid to a fault (i.e. the cronut guy thing), but these publicists often represent multiple celebrities, some higher on the alphabet list than others, so ruining one relationship can result in never getting a multitude of guests who all go through that one publicist. This sort of paranoia is not a bad trait to have for someone who's job it is to book guests for a show.
