Do people consider Colin Quinn a good host? IMO, Tough Crowd was only good because of the guests. Colin was an absolute bumbling trainwreck of a host. You can clearly see him not knowing what he's doing throughout that show's entire run.
It had potential, but it got cancelled for a good reason.
conan needs that show. I hate the guys always being like "wow ya kimmel and fallon are so great with the internet huh?". Conan invented that. Anbody remember the whole TeamCoco thing right when he was being canned. He rode that wave to a live tour and a new show. He will rise from the ashes of cable lol.
How can you blame Conan, they set him up to fail. They moved Leno to the spot right before his. The tonight show fans just tuned in earlier. Everyone that would have given Conan a shot didn't even have to cuz the guy they're used to was on earlier. then after 6 months they canned him.
Conan's contract only stated that he would succeed Leno, never demanded that he step or specified a date. The NBC execs made that call when Leno renewed. They mad it clear it was his last one.
He sacrificed a lot to stay with NBC though. Fox was offering him like 21 million when NBC was paying 3. Then NBC's answer was to pay him 8 and he fucking stayed because he wanted the Tonight show that bad. If you're worth 21mil and you accept 8 out of loyalty and desire to be the next in line, that says a lot about his loyalty to NBC and their lack there of to him.
Yes but Fox isn't exactly a small company either. And ANY you take a $13 million pay cut for the possibility of being given what is basically rightfully yours eventually is loyalty.
Rightfully his? Come on. Not at all. They can do whatever they want with the spot. And usually do.
Conan is definitely out for conan first. He don't care bout nbc come on youre crazy. Make less with more profile and the tonight show name or pay raise and less profile. Nbc loyalty never factored into his decision.
He had worked there his entire career. Can we stop thinking there's no one left who thinks that way? It's obvious he's sentimental if he turned down $13mil for a fucking chance at the show. And it was his to take. He was on late night right after him for years. Why bring in an outsider with less experience. Now after a mere 5 years Fallon gets whisked through the system right to the top?? come onnnn
I say now that he basically works for CBS, he should slide into the late show spot.
Look how late night host successions always work out. No one inherhits it. And he had the show for what 10 or 15 years. Long time. But ENTIRE CAREER is an exaggeration.
Yeah, so well put. Conan was Kimmel and Fallon before Kimmel and Fallon.
I think part of the problem is that the sweet spot of Conan's potential fanbase isn't going to watch a late night talk show regularly on TV. If he did a fucking video podcast or something with the same jokes and production quality, I think he'd kill it.
Ya true. I just hate how they3y fucked him over. And leno/leterman were the big two shows forever. So to me it's like, tonight show fucked Letterman. Letterman gave conan late night. Tonight show fucked conan he needs to stick with letterman and take up the mantel so the tonight show/late show can continue this showdown. That's something I can get behind.
Colin's delivery is sporadic and uneven. He makes speaking sound as thought it's a very difficult thing to do. You've got to be a smooth motherfucker for late night.

No, just bring Tough Crowd back.

Actually that's a great idea. With Fallon, Conan, Kimmell, whatshisname and whatshisname, a discussion panel show would be a refreshing break.

The McCoughlin Group but with Bobo, Lady Di, and DJ to the Stars Denny Falcone!

Hosted by Intern David. Missing Marion IMOTBQH.

Yeah Colin would make a GREAT replacement here in 1996! Is anyone else worried about this Y2K thing, or do you think it's bullshit?

I always loved conan and hated Leno. But I only blame conan for how things went.
And now I am sick of his goofy dancing shtick. His and ellens monologues could be interchangeable.
Still hate leno though.

Well conan demanded the tonite show. They should have let him walk. So they gave him the tonite show but didnt wanna give up lenos ratings.
They made the right decision for them. Conan shoulda stayed at late night. Hed be alot more relevant today if he just waited his turn.

Dude. You know damn well it wasnt loyalty to nbc. He wanted the prestige of the tonite show.
He didn't want to be forgotten about like he is on tbs.

Love Colin, but he wouldn't fit in on that show.
He would be a better off host on the slot right after the Tonight Show/Late Show or the even later Carson Daly time slot.

I don't see Louis doing a talk show but damn that story arc was fantastic.
1 CUNTYMOM 2014-04-03
that would be so cool
0 [deleted] 2014-04-03
Wasn't that based on a true story too?
2 Happy_ScrappyHeroPup 2014-04-03
More of a Colin Kane guy myself.

Haha I keep seeing suggestions like Louis CK and a #letterwoman campaign starting up, but few are talking about fucking Craig Ferguson.
How sad for him, eh. But yeah it's going to be a woman to appease the PC crowd.
0 [deleted] 2014-04-03
Could be why Chelsea Handler suddenly ended her show last week...
1 CryptoZappa 2014-04-03
I want a Tough Crowd podcast. Totally doable.
3 GoFudgeUrself 2014-04-03
colin will never ever in a million years lower himself to doing a podcast
1 acidninja 2014-04-03
Conans contract for tbs runs out at the same time.
My idea would be for CBS and letterman to get conan as the new host as a giant fuck you to NBC.
2 creep_boot 2014-04-03
And simultaneously a giant fuck you to CBS stockholders as audience repellent Conan works his patented magic and collapses their late-night ad-rates.
You are right, that plan would certainly hurt NBC though, putting their backs out carrying all that extra money round in sacks.
2 acidninja 2014-04-03
I have a feeling you do not like conan. I can just feel it.

I highly doubt he's going to get it. They want to compete with Fallon, not roll over and accept second/third best.

His standup is unwatchable so I can't imagine anyone sitting through his monologues night after night.

Your ability to be unfunny while editorializing headlines on this sub is surpassed only by your terrible calls to the show, Lady Trucker.
