The guys handle Roland with kid gloves because they know that Roland's replacement wouldn't fight to get good guests on the show and they would once again get something sub-par from what the rest of the company gets. Roland's connections are one of the few good things that the show has behind the scenes.

Back in the XM days when management got rid of Roland, NO ONE came into the show. There was mostly their friends stopping in, but it is more than cold-calling. That line of work is a lot of ass kissing and smoothing over of ego's (handlers more than the talent sometimes). He has a lot of contacts in the business from his Carson Daly days.

Rumor has it that Roland is an HR tattletale. He's a literal manchild in that he potentially could start something that'll wind up costing someone a job.

Jimmy said exactly what I was thinking. The guys would've been cool to the cronut guy. He put his friendship with the guy over his show, which isn't right. If he would've made sure, seriously, with them that they weren't gonna do anything bad to the guy everything would've been fine. If you listen to Sam's aftershow yesterday, Roland was on and he was clearly pissed that they were calling his baker buddy a "stupid businessman" for not going large-scale with the cronuts. What was sanctimonious about what Jim said today? He called Roland out on putting his personal relationship with the Cronut Douche over the show. He should have been blasted harder than he was.
