What Do You Guys Think About Religion and the Afterlife?

0  2014-03-31 by [deleted]

We always hear the boys talk about their opinions on God and what happens when you die. What do you guys think I'm curious to hear how religious you guys are. I personally think we cease to exist but that's because I'm a total weenie

I have firm beliefs that Opie sucks and decided to became an apostle to pass on the word of his terribleness. May you all spread word of his douchey, lying stories. In the name of the Bookie, and of the Candy Kid, and of the Jury Duty.. Amen.

damn you're dedicated

Preach on, brother.

brotherman.

Dennis Falcone.

This is going to go well...

I love God and Jesus, but I normally keep it to myself because it's my business. I wish other people would do the same thing. I give a shit what anyone believes, I don't try to convince anyone to believe what I believe, or like what I like. But I fucking hate it when people try to knock down religion because they don't believe, its fucking lame. "I don't believe in what you believe, and now I'm going to spend and hour telling you why I think you're an asshole for liking what you do."

I'm not religious but the only time I really engage in any sort of anti religious talk is when religion is used as a reason for not allowing things like assisted suicide, abortion, or stem cell research, and when Christians try to get creationism to be taught in schools as an alternative to the big bang theory/evolution. People can believe whatever they want and it doesn't bother me but when they use their beliefs coupled with tax dollars to legislate it bothers me.

Yeah, I totally agree! That is using religion to pass your own agenda. I have my own personal relationship with God. I don't bring Noah or Adam and Eve or the 7 dwarfs into the mix. I don't go to church and have ZERO problem with people banging on the church which to me is a business like 7-11. But saying "You are a fool for believing in God" is fucking dickheaded and makes you sound like an asshole.

I agree with that. I never attack people for believing in God. I only criticize their use of God as a way to push their agenda on other people.

Almost anyone who starts talking about their beliefs without it being asked or brought up, is an asshole.

Penn Jillette

I believe religion was created to force man to follow morals in times where they had no laws or real reasons to follow morality. We should've outgrown religion by now, but there are some people that are terrified of not existing so they fill their heads with bullshit spewed by millionaires such as Joel Osteen to make themselves feel better.

I don't really believe in any interventionist God and my best guess would be that when you die it's just lights out. I kinda like the way Penn Jillette described it: (paraphrasing) "2090 will feel just like 1890 did. You weren't there and it wasn't scary for you so don't worry about it."

Protestant checking in. Believe in Heaven and Hell. No Limbo or Purgatory.

So you believe that when you die, you will be seated at the right hand of Denny?

That's kind of the whole motivation. I was a hardcore atheist before Tequila and Donuts Day. Now I'm planning a mission trip to Somalia to spread the word about Denny.

You know, I still have never listened to that show, I think I'll do that soon

do u have any evidence for their existence aside from a book written by desert nomads over a thousand years ago lol

good one, jabroni.

This debate is pointless because, obviously unlike atheists, Christians believe that these nomads were divinely inspired. The word of God is proof enough.

When i die, nothing happens, or i go up to my creator dennis falcone. either way i win.

There's SOMETHING out there. Not saying it's Jeezus or fuckin' Buddah or whatever the hell Mormons believe or whatever, but one thing that keeps me from being an outright atheist dick.... the world has no fuckin' meaning whatsoever if someone like Mother Teresa suffers the exact same fate as Adolf Hitler in the end. That's all I got on it.

I've always been curious about this, why say there's "something" when you've eliminated everything that's been established and accepted life has no meaning. Isn't that just making up your own "god" for comfort or meaning in a sense?

Everything that Ronnie James Dio said

I wholeheartedly believe in the Christian God, Jesus Christ, and an afterlife. However, I'm willing to acknowledge the problems within today's church, and it saddens me that so many nonbelievers (including all 3 hosts) are turned away from Christianity because of some of its members.

Honestly, I've considered calling into the show during one of their religion breaks. I think I'd be okay at defending myself and my beliefs. But then I realized it would probably end with being called "silly" and my beliefs being over-simplified into something euphoric like "magic man in the clouds."

This post is too long. I suck.
