Sirius XM Subscribers, Do You Get Your Money's Worth?

I listen to the same shows for free and I'm wondering what's the difference between subscribing and listening for free if you get the same content only a little later?

I've been signing up for a free 30 day trial every month for 5 years now.

Worth every penny.

This. Use a throwaway email like 10minutemail.com.

It's also worth noting that the TOS of the trial accounts make no mention of them being limited to one person. As long as the email is different its totally legal.

I had it for 2 years and loved it for the 3 minutes a week it wasn't acting like a fucking rolling hunk of shit. I only used online/app though. Can't speak for the radios

I actually canceled my subscription today. It came due this week and I haven't really gotten the enjoyment from the new Media Destination that I used to before all of the programming changes. That and Sirius XM thinks that everyone wants to listen to Jimmy Buffet and other niche channels. I can use the money elsewhere.

I do - I'm in my car for about an hour or more every day. It's something I thought about last year before renewing. I listen to that and get legitimate entertainment from O&A every day, used to get R&F (not since the channel and time change), listen to some of the music stations. Overall I do get a lot of entertainment for what I spend. I spend more on fucking DirecTV every month than I do on SXM per year, and most TV is complete shit.

I'm riding out the rest of my current contract and then not renewing. I only found Steven Knight and Logan and the others on youtube within the last couple of months and with my work schedule I rarely get to listen to the show live anyways. I thought I'd feel like a scumbag if I cancelled my script and just mooched the material for free but fuck it. I really don't listen to the music channels enough to feel like it's justified. If they had some plan that just let me select the few channels I like and pay a few bucks a month instead of the full price I'd do that but that isn't an option.

Well yeah it's lame to listen for free but even if I had SiriusXM I'd still have to go on youtube and watch VideOandA to see all the visual elements they use on a daily basis.

Well there are many free options available a few hours after the shows over. So I just play it on my iPhone off the youtube app and listen to it wherever I am. It's really convenient. And do you watch VideOandA's channel since it's hard to follow when the guys are watching videos

don't worry, the android app sucks as much balls as the iphone app does

I enjoy having the service. Bought a Lynx radio in December 2012, it has a touch screen and works on Wifi, it works really well. The music channels are nice as well but if you don't like multiple types of music then it might not be worth it. Used to download the shows and be a day or two behind but I enjoy getting involved in twitter and feedback live with the show. Also I don't like being a theif, I was in many ways years ago and it's a road I don't want to travel anymore. It doesn't help the show anyway. I figure the better their numbers the better SiriusXm will treat them. If everyone had a sub and frequented the channel & On-Demand content then the company would get a better example of how many listeners they actually have, but what do I know.

After paying monthly for a few years I purchased a "lifetime" contract back in 08/09 from XM for about $399 and have only had to pay a fee (a ripoff of $25) when I bought a new car to "transfer" the account.

I'm glad I did because I only listen when I'm in my car, which isn't often. I use the available internet sources and listen on my phone or laptop 90% of the time.

I like having the capability of listening to it live during rush hour traffic in the mornings. I switch to the app when I get into my job's parking lot and listen to the remainder of the show on my phone, or the web player on my work PC. Fortunately, I have never experienced the app problems that others have. I pay for the convenience of listening live and because I can afford it without it being a noticeable expense month-to-month. If I had to though, I would listen for free.

I pay for it to keep the boys employed. If it werent for the show id be asking for my money back for the shit service. Iphone app.

I do, but I listen to a lot more than O&A, and appreciate the music channels. I know I could replace it with Pandora or something, but I really like radio despite it singing it's swan song, and enjoy some of the other specific programming SXM offers.

I drive an hour each way to and from my job. That's around 40 hours of entertainment a week for under 15 bucks. I get my money's worth.

I tell you what I hate...the fucking billing that hits you in chunks. Used to be just 10$ a month off my checking account, not bad for a broke bitch like me but now you pay in blocks and the price went up so I hate being surprised when I lose $100 in a draft and I'm not expecting it.

I don't make much, I take care of old people. I have had satrad since 2005. I love the music channels. The merger was the worst thing, tho. The price went up and now it hurts me when they bill. When it was just 9$ a month I barely noticed. Now it sucks. Bill drafted last week and i went -54$ in my checking!

any job?

I get my money's worth, I feel. I spend a lot of time in my car and with the talk channels, the comedy channels, and the music all together, i think its def worth it.

I had mobile XM since 2010 and I wish Sirius would hire a more a serious app Dev and update the android ui of the app to the latest Google standard holo menu layout for maximum screen real estate in the app and utilize the picture display area better with a live slideshow from maybe instagram or twitter or possibly live video in studio.

I had xm as a free trial when I bought my new car. When it came time to reup, I'd threaten to cancel (legit) and they would beg me to stay for another 6 months for $10. I'd agree, and then 6 months later they would beg again and I'd say 'no, disconnect me.' Then I would have xm for the next 3 years, for free.

So, no, $10 for 4 years is not a good value.

I use the radio in the car a few times a week but the online stream (shitty interface and down a lot) - when it works, works great - use it while screenprinting - have the phone hooked to (2) old PC speakers on a charger riding a wireless access point - instant no commercials radio - I also listen on the PC all day as well - no regrets so far.

I think I do. I have a great internet connection at home and work so the app/online player normally doesn't give me many problems, but trying to listen while just walking around is frustrating and I'll normally queue up a podcast. Honestly, what it comes down to is that I can afford it and I'm happy to support the guys.

I use the police scanner app and I get the live show.

Absolutely not. I have three cars with satellite units and I'm not registering the third unless I can get a serious discount. Waiting until renew time to negotiate.

I listen almost exclusively to the O&A channel. Occasionally Raw Dog, and even more occasionally the NY traffic channel. When I try to listen to the music, it's so compressed it's unlistenable. Are some music channels higher fidelity than others? I know O&A sound better over the internet.

Oh, one other thing I use it for is a portable GPS; I can listen to O&A on a motorcycle way out in the boonies, and it has NavTraffic and the weather service. Works pretty well.

Literally every other station sucks except o and a in the morning.

SiriusXM would be a good deal if they charged about the same as Netflix, and let you activate on multiple radios. Nobody wants to spend $14.99 a month on radio, and it gets a lot more expensive than that if you don't use the shitty online app and want to have multiple radios.

I listen to this shit free on youtube and I still don't get my monies worth.

I have moral and ethical issues with stealing the show. Just like Ronnie B said (regarding stealing music), you don't have a right to something just because it exists. There are serious issues (no pun intended) with the online/app shit, but, in my mind that doesn't change the fact that the show is a product that's apart of a paid service.

Well yeah it's lame to listen for free but even if I had SiriusXM I'd still have to go on youtube and watch VideOandA to see all the visual elements they use on a daily basis.
