Callers who repeat a topic right after another caller
3 2014-03-13 by Sentinel_Event
I was listening to the callers mention the Rolls Royce engines on the Malaysian flight right after one another, and they asked how that can happen if the show is playing on the phone. Isn't the show on enough of a delay that the caller wouldn't hear that, and they see the topic and pick up the call anyway. I presume this is just a bit to have a good natured chuckle at the callers, but is there something in the call screening process that I'm missing?

I think you are right. At least this is what I've always thought. They do this all the time and then complain about the callers repeating topics. It's a bit.

I thought i remembered hearing that when you are on hold there is no delay through the phone. Ive never called a radio show so I dont know for sure.

Well then I guess the callers are so anxious to get on the air that they tune out the other, but next time I wish one would ask them why they picked up if they knew it was the same topic. Eh, they'll probably just say it's to fuck with them.

Gotta be a bit. Opie can see what the callers want to talk about.

Of course, Opie does it on purpose. It kills 5 minutes and they can continue to make fun of the retarded callers/listeners that they take calls from EVERY day but the boys "don't know" why they're fans.

There is a delay when you are on hold but it's maybe five to ten seconds. You can still hear the caller in front of you.

Listening on hold = no delay at all Listening over the radio = 20 second to a minute delay Listening over the web app = up to 7 or 8 minutes of delay.

Lots of mouth breathing hayseed truckers call the show.

Most likely the phones are on some sort of delay, but it's annoying that they pretend that they don't know what the next caller is talking about.

Holy shit I saw a thread on here not too long ago about how Opie always says what the caller is going to say before they go to him. Which is it???

Callers call into the show. A screener answers and asks them their name, location, and what they want to talk about. The screener then puts that info onto Opie's screen.
