The entire Dave segment was really deceptive and weird.

You could tell Opie was trying to do his detach-from-someone-and-turn-them-into-an-enemy routine to Dave. All that murmuring of "To be honest I haven't even listened to his show in two years," "I couldn't even tell you what his show is about, to be honest with you." He plays this game with guests and "friends of the show" all the time.

It was a really scummy break and hard to listen to. Anytime I start to like the dude he pulls some shit like this.

Unless their contracts specified authority over hiring and firing personnel, everyone, including O&A&J are employees of SiriusXM Satellite Radio.

IIRC O&A (not Jim/Sam/Slobo/RestofAssholes) are their own company and their service is contracted through that company by SiriusXM, which technically make O&A independent contractors and not direct employees. The rest of the staff are employed by SiriusXM and I'm sure O&A's contract states that they can choose what staff they want to use, but if SiriusXM wants to cut ties with their own employee then there's nothing O&A can do.

If Tim Sabean wants to reprogram the channel that's his managerial right, but it sounds too unprofessional that he would do so without running it by O&A first, at the same, O&A staunchly refuse to talk to management so I'm going to assume a lot of this Dave shit is on them.

All decisions are run by them first, even if they don't have as much control over it; but yes, at least Opie knew of this before it publicly broke. Bottom line, Dave was a liability. You put your backing behind Steve, not Dave.
