It's time to renew the SiriusXM in one of my cars. How low have you gotten your SiriusXM subscription down to? Tips for negotiating?

My only subscription is Steven knight

yo i got that shit free for a month, tell em that shit sucks

Flat out say "Whats the lowest you put my subscription rate too" Then still go through with the cancel.

I called and said I was going to cancel, they offered to give me twelve months for $30. Deal.

Will this tactic work if I am not currently subscribed?

Doubt it. We'd had an account with them since before Howard even had his first show.

I got them to add XM channels to my subscription for no extra fee and to lower my rate to about $7 a month from $10.

They will offer you Half price for a year at first, then they will go a little bit lower. The cheapest they are offering right now is $19.99 for 6 months, so if they don't offer that, tell them you are canceling because of financial reasons and just cancel it. They will send you a offer to re-up in a month or so.

Is it worth it to subscribe to SiriusXM?

I let it go for about two weeks then they called me. I was busy so I told them I would call back. When I did the operator thought I was calling to activate my trial subscription and I played dumb. Got another three months for free.

I should also include that the radio was activated when I rolled it out of the dealership

Edit: after that

I tried to do it again but it didn't work. I let it lapse for two or 3 weeks and I was called with an offer to come back, rather then extend. I got the next year for $80. The final year I just paid whatever it was I thought I won by that point.

Leased car in April of 2010 paid the $80 for 2011 to 2012.

I hear they are much tougher these days and the costs are significantly higher especially for those with multiple radios.

I paid their regular fee for 6 months, complained, now I'm on a 30 dollar every 6 months plan with two radios and the extended package.

I pay a la carte. About a year or two ago though, some genius in another country decided when I said I wanted to pay for my account month to month instead of yearly, to cut off my service completely. Corporate gave me service for free for a while, six month if I remember correctly.

Talk to someone in the US office if you can, possibly in the retention department. Express your issues with the online player, etc.

Every Month I tell them I'm leaving and they give me a month free, so $0

I had no idea you could negotiate a lower rate. I've been paying $22/month for years.

Not sure what problems tyou had, but I've been subscribed for ten years and rarely have technical problems. I still have the same radio I've had since day one and it works every day.

I drive a semi locally and have to break down my SiriusXM rig every day. I know it's not designed to have that done to it but the wires begin to wear very fast. The power cord frays at the bases in about a month. After two with tape not working I finally used super glue on a new one and that's taken care of it.

New hardware is also way too expensive. Other than those things I don't much to complain about.

Semi circle?

Weird. I've had my antenna cable running through my entire car and never had an issue.

I have one in my car also. The car is fine because I never remove it. The reason my truck radio gets screwed up is because I've got to take it out at the end of every shift. Like I said obviously they didn't design the hardware with that in mind but the rate at which the power cord in particular wears down is pretty sad. The antenna cable seems to be more rugged, probably because it needs to deal with the elements a bit more.

Oh I see what you mean. Yeah I could see that definitely being annoying.

I had the same issue with my first XM (Way back in the Roady XT days)

Except it was the antenna instead of the power cord having the wire issues.

Also, everytime I went off the main highway, the service would just stop. Wide open spaces, not a cloud in the sky, and couldn't keep a signal. It was really irritating. When I called to cancel, they offered to sell me the same version of the radio that didn't even last for 2 months.

"Fellas..."
