Pre-Show, Post-Show, Jimmy-Show
1 2014-03-03 by [deleted]
Anyone else think they need a revamp of the show schedule . . .
Every Pre-Show is just playing the same clips that they played on the Post-Show the day before. Just seems like they're wasting air-time.
Then does anyone know why Jimmy's show was stopped? I tapped out before it finished because it was just the same advice over and over.
Anyway I think it would be great once a week for Jimmy to get some younger, new comics in for an hour to talk about comic-shit or stories from the road or whatever - kinda like Joe List's podcast if you've heard it. Anyone, comment?
It'd be a great way to find the next bunch of regular comics to come through on the show now that CK is too big, Quinn's always busy, Bawby's got a family and Patrice is gone.
Just thought I'd share . . .

The post-show comes across as a glorified live read. I wouldn't be surprised if the new management came up with the idea so they could charge a premium to the advertisers played during it since it's "show time" rather than "commercial time".
(I've only heard the pre-show once or twice and can't remember if they did live reads during it or not)

I think Jimmy is pretty good at interviewing and we all know he's great off the cuff. Instead of giving him a serious show he should have some comics on and just shoot the shit
I love Sam but the 30 minutes in and 30 minutes out format doesn't give him enough time to brew any evil bits, he's just stuck rehashing what we heard

jimmy good at interviewing? you cray?

I gave you credibility until I read "I love Sam" unles what you really meant to say was "I love Sam dead" then we cool again

Sam is brilliant and he stirs up shit like no other. We ain't cool, friendo

Sam is like Puffy to me. He's great at what he does behind the scenes and the occasional pipe in but when he is the focus, then his stock drops as fast as Puffy's when he comes out with his own album.

I think Sam plays off people way better than Diddy. He's more of a Dr. Dre if we're gonna do hip hop analogies. Special Delivery with Sam & Dave is one of the best teams in history, the shows are great, and Sam knows how to rein in and harness East Side Dave's craziness.

Enough of the comics talking/jerking each other off. Yuck.

Yeah I like listening to that sorta thing from time to time but literally every comic (or person who is trying to be a comic) has a podcast where they have other comics come in and talk about how great/unique it is to be a comic. After a while you are just listening to different people say the same shit.

Yeah I get your point. I only used to listen to Bawby's podcast other than the show, then that's what it became every episode.
I just think the show was at its best when they had either CK or Patrice as a regular doing full shows every now and then. With the way the show is now I can't see there ever being a proper regular who'll do full shows again.

I couldn't agree more. The show has suffered from Louis' success and Patrice's death.

I can't think of anyone who can come in and fill that role either.

How can you forego/forgo bobo?
1 just_plain_yogurt 2014-03-03
Easily. He's not funny.

I hope bobo never comes back to the show ever again. I don't love to hate him, I just hate him. Enough with the tards, already! Jimmy can give us literal jim, ted, chip, there's enough ironically horrendous material to go around from Mr James Sybil Norton, we don't need bobo or stupid lady di!

The only thing good about the pre show is that when I use my app and listen about an hour after the show starts I can press the >> button and skip right to the beginning of the show. Best perk ever!!!

my theory is that they were already paying sam to host the shit show. tim didn't like the shit show and wanted a pre and post. cancel the sam show instead of moving it to a later time and having travis or e-rock or someone host the pre and post. if sam wants his cash hell do the two shows and like it.
they put dave on hiatus so they could cut his hours and bring him back a month later.

I remember Opie mentioning that the hours were changed because they could get some better guests if they stayed until 10:30.
1 dazwah 2014-03-03
I like that they stay the extra half-hour. I feel like it seems less rushed when they do have a guest in later on in the show.

Wasn't the main reason he was doing the advice show was because he was missing shows to go do leno and used that to makeup some of the time ? I though he mentioned that once or twice.

he asked for a raise and they said he had to do more shows. im assuming they needed to move O&A to 1030 and just said it was all good with jimmy.

Bring Ron and Fez back to the channel. I miss them and don't ever think to go to RawDog SiriusXM Comedy Hits 99.
They ought to nix the pre-show. Just play best-of from 6-6:30. Show runs 6:30-10:30. After Show runs from 10:30-Noon. Then R&F from 12-3. Replays follow accordingly. Give R&F their late-night replay back. They don't even get that over at RawDog SiriusXM Comedy Hits 99.

sorry to burst your bubble, but sxm is not taking programming advice from opie and anthony fans anytime soon.
1 dazwah 2014-03-03
You had no bubble to burst. I'm not expecting anyone to make any changes because some commenter on reddit said something. It's just what I'd like to see
