Someone on this subreddit accused me of enabling adverts before my uploads. This is not true. As you can see (http://imgur.com/UQGFrlN) I explicitly disable adverts/monetization.
Any adverts you see before my videos are put there by the content holder when copywritten content is flagged—I can't stop that and get no money from it, it's your fault for not having AdBlock installed.
The year is 2014, and a sizeable number of O&A motherfuckers still apparently have little to no idea of the basics involved in battling the youtube copyright detection robot. And who the fuck isn't using AdBlock, is this more phone-using dummies causing trouble?
To the nearest hundred, how many times per day do you get messaged by dummies complaining that "you haven't enabled mobile access" on any video with copyright flagged content.
... The day Youtube decide to stop turning a blind eye, and choose to pull the rug out from underneath AdBlock, is the day I fling myself out a window. Ads on YT would be unbearable.
The vast majority of people don't use Adblock. If they did, it wouldn't work anymore.
MLG has completely shut down adblock with their embedded player, the technology is out there, obviously it's not worth the effort to implement. Personally, if I go to a youtube video on my phone and an ad pops up, I just leave. There's more than enough content I'm interested in that I don't need to waste my time sitting through an ad for a product I'm not interested in.
I probably wouldn't say 'not worth the effort', YouTube could put the kibosh on AdBlocking with the flick of a switch. I'm sure the work has been finished for a while now. As you say, some much smaller sites already do.
It still genuinely surprises me they haven't done it yet, but it's gotta be real close. There must be a slide rattling around YT HQ somewhere with a chart and numbers on it making the strategic marketing case for holding-off on flicking the switch.
I am guessing the calculation is that for now, adblock users are pound for pound probably the more active users of YouTube, more savvy - by definition way less likely to click any ad so you're not losing much revenue, are probably more likely to share/tweet/blog links and/or upload their own content, and thereby generate pageviews that other people will sit and watch ads on, and they use YT instead of TV so you want to keep them around for phase II:
Which I'd guess is holding-off for now until they have the micro-payment infrastructure and content producers in place to be ready to release YouTube subscription packages, and then that'll be your choice: watch ads with no adblocking allowed, or pay a small monthly figure for ad-free YT bundles and channels.

I appreciate all your work (and all the others who do this as well). But I would like to ask a question - why are you so concerned with video views and such? If you're not making money, what difference does it make if you upload 10 new videos in one day or space them over a week? What difference does it ultimately make if a video gets 4000 or 40,000 views, it's not your content and you're not making any money off it.
It gives me something to do, monetary reward (or lack of) doesn't make it any more or less interesting to me to do; promote, etc. Gotta get those numbers. I'm an O&A fan, so this also gets me to listen/find classic stuff I've never heard before either. It's just fun.

You do good work here man. A lot of us are tired and fed up with SiriusXM's bullshit. They don't know how to handle the show or the replay. The shit the fans do for the show is a thousand times better than what the show's actual employers do.
I have NEVER paid SiriusXM a fucking dime. Instead, I look to good people like the fans who put the show up online, and on Youtube.

Copyright infringement is copyright infringement. Distribution w/o permission is distribution w/o permission. Whether money is made by whom or not. We can go on and on whether pros outweigh the cons for everyone involved, including SXM, or whether something is justified & ethical or not, but the facts are the facts.
